George Harrison actually came to me in a dream once. He knocked on my door and when I recognized it was him I ran up to him and hugged him and started crying then he started crying too. It's like he knew how much him and the other Beatles meant to me. Ever since then I've been trying to get more spiritual with myself. Thank you so much for doing this video. I've loved George since the first time I saw him (in person) & up close, in Brisbane 1964. I was seven & perched on my Dad's shoulders. Dad had just set up the press conference & staging on behalf of the TV channel he worked for, which is why we were allowed into the cordoned-off caged area. I had no idea who The Beatles were before I saw them, but then recognised them as "those men" whose pictures adorned my 2 teenage sister's bedroom mirrors. George smiled & I shyly looked at the ground. I didn't even notice the other three Beatles because George's kind smile sparked something in me that has lasted my whole life.
I adored, still adore, his humanitarianism, philanthropy, kindness, humour & of course his incredible talent.
I even married the beautiful, kind, shy boy I met at high school, who looked & acted very similarly to George Harrison, and we grew up listening to all our beloved Beatles albums being that The Beatles drew us to each other.
We still play them regularly for our six grandchildren. They love The Beatles too!
Also, I've watched The Hollyhobs YT videos since you started your channel. I deeply appreciate you & your research, Thank you..whatever your name is! - Linda

Nice video but just a few things - George said in an interview in 1990 that he got up early (before 10am) to chant, meditate and do yoga. He ate Scott's Porridge Oats for breakfast and then power walked around his garden per his doctor's advice. He also was a fan of egg sandwiches. And, he always had tea time in the afternoon as most Brits do. He loved to have friends over to play guitars and hang out and, when not doing that, he liked to go to the local pub for a pint.

Nice presentation of George Harrison's routine. My life has been heavily influenced by George Harrison, Eastern philosophy, meditation, mantras, studying the sitar, Kirtan music. I fortunately got to meet George's sister Louise Harrison and studied Sitar with Ravi Shankar's Sitar technician who also toured with Raviji as a musician. I could relate to George's routine, minus the vegetarian lifestyle!

George obviously began to realize -- early on in his career, obviously -- that fame and fortune had very little bearing on one's peace of mind. He once said that (paraphrased) "(the Beatles) were the world's reason to go mad...it was like being in the center of a storm, and the four of us were the only sane people in the world." He obviously found his connection to God through meditation and prayer -- more of an inward experience. It became a major part of his life.
I was struck at how much of a whole and happier George had emerged, as time went on. He chose to distance himself from the temporary woes of life into a much lighter hearted man. He was a deep person, obviously. I would have loved to sit in meditation with him, or discuss his views on spirituality.

i think the unsung hero in the life of George Harrison was a guy they backed on a record named Tony Sheridan. This was when they were still laboring in the vineyards in Germany. Sheridan was a "studio guitarist" who let George follow him around and spent hours tutoring him on the guitar. That plus the hours they spent playing in those German clubs forged him into the player who appeared with them in front of the queen mother with that great solo he created for McCartney's iconic version of "Till There Was You" etc. He was awfully good for his age, and especially for his age THEN.

  •  Před 3 lety +1

What blew me away about George, was how quickly he learned slide guitar. From what I hear, he actually picked it up in 69, and by the time he recorded All Things Must Pass, he was an amazing slide player. I don’t know of any musician that learned slide so quickly.

George Harrison and Ronnie Spector were out partying one night, so he invited her to his flat for breakfast.
She was stunned by what she saw.
"Everything was canned," she said. "Canned corn, canned ham...everything." I do believe, though, that even when he was young, beans on toast was his favorite food.

Thanks for the upload, HH. I grew up rurally -- the forest was my playground for the first 17 years. Songs came to me out there among those trees by that pond, and I'd come home to my guitar and hash them out and write down the lyrics and chords. Fast-forward to downtown Philadelphia in the 90's, I lived across the street from a small park at 11th & Pine. On sunny Sundays, I'd smoke half a herbal jazz cigarette and take my acoustic guitar to the park and just play. Songs came to me there, too, among the traffic and the other people and the smell of cheese-steaks. I guess my point is, I've found that music comes to you wherever you can relax and really be one with YOU.

Meditation ultimately is about watching the mind, learning how fleeting it is, and coming to understand that it is not “you.” That realization is the place of relaxation. The mind simply does what it does and the core consciousness that is “you” is experiencing the up and down of the mind and the youth, aging and demise of the body. It -you - is neither the body or the mind, but the consciousness experiencing both.

I learned TM in the early 1970’s, of course, influenced by George and others who introduced us to it. I do other forms of meditation (Yoga and martial arts forms,) but the 2 most important ideas behind TM is 1) allow your mind to wander. Don’t try to stop the flow which you think is distraction. The distraction is forced blockage of the flow, which is what you were trying to do, instead, just keep returning to the mantra, image, idea, etc. 2) recognize the individuality in yourself and others. Don’t try to imitate others; find the answers through your own observations. I might try beans and toast as an idea, but it’s for me to decide if it’s what my body needs. You can never replicate a Beatles’ life, but you can be informed by it, as you can by anything. It’s your journey, you get to decide.

Love the analogy and the presentation. Nature is nurture, your soul, your mind, your temperament all develop a softer sensibility. Love you’re videos and the area you live in. I used to live in West Chester County. Beautiful ,stunning, you can feel the history. I sure miss living there. It fed my soul.

Ok so far. But first put butter on the toast, I like a dash of Worcestershire Sauce on the beans and eat it with a knife and fork. Fork in left hand knife in right. No swapping over.

I have a George Harrison story that very few people know about. I am good friends with a woman named Claire, who for several years was the nanny of George's beloved son Dhani. One day while nannying, Claire walked into a room at his estate, like she had done a million times. For some reason, this time she completely startled George's wife Olivia: an extreme over-reaction; like Olivia nearly jumped out of her own skin. Claire apologetically asked her why she got so frightened and jumpy, to which Olivia replied, "You could've been anyone. You could've been a madman with a knife, breaking into the house and trying to kill us." It all was bit out of character, as Olivia was typically chill and cool as a cucumber.
Well. Cosmically and tragically, about 15 years later, a madman with a knife would break into that exact same room. What are the odds. heinousAnyway

Great that you tried beans on toast (one of my favourites for breakfast too) but we Brits eat it with a knife and fork and most of us use butter or a can’t believe it’s not butter type of spread.
If you come to the UK in the summer try visiting N Wales (Snowdonia) and look for a quiet spot you can walk to then sit down take in the view listen to the sounds and just play your guitar. You can also meditate to enhance the experience even more. Bangor where the Beatles went to meet the Yogi is in the area it’s beautiful with mountains lakes waterfalls and farms and Wales even has its own language Welsh which sounds nothing like English.
Loved the video as always thanks oh and if I may say you and your partner make a lovely couple. Stay safe 😊👍

This video is brilliant - In fact, your videos are always essential viewing for me because I simply love your passion and insight for one of the greatest bands to have ever graced this planet... but, side note, how can you never have had beans on toast? In Australia, this is a frequent 'quick meal' that is high in fibre and relatively good for you.

Don't think there's enough info available to be able to plan a day in the life of the legendary Alan (Blind Owl) Wilson but he spent as much time as he could in nature, often turning up at home with dirt in this finger nails and leaves and twigs in his hair. He also practised yoga and loved Indian music. His was a beautiful soul. Btw, you didn't put enough beans on that toast 😊 Nice video, well done.

I have the same experience with meditation... don't know how to relax/keep my thoughts from racing... thanks for being open about that haha. I walk in the woods by my house most days and it seems to be very therapeutic I believe there's a word for it in Japanese that translates to "forest bathing." I believe they've done a lot of studies about how it's good for your brain.

Owendey ZonZon. Meditation is not for everyone. It takes a lot of practice to get into the right frame of mind. I can do it but it’s difficult for me. It takes several minutes to get into the headspace. So don’t worry about it. Your probably one of the people who meditation isn’t for.
