I believe that surrender part at the end is his song he added on. He speaks about his love for the lord and how he surrenders. He is a cancer survivor and has no stomach yet can still hit those notes just shows what God can do and bring out the best out of us even with our limitations

Does anyone else feel like they have been blessed? Wow Stan is living now through the grace of God. We nearly lost him from a cruel illness which meant he had to have his stomach removed...But he 'Surrendered to Jesus' and now lives in gratitude. the performance warms my heart. Thank you so much for sharing it. Stan is from New Zealand but he is an honorary Australian. We love him here in Australia.

Yes Stan has lost over 20 family members to a particular type of cancer. I believe Stan had stomach cancer, and his family carry a certain gene for it. We do love him here in Australia, we even made him our Australian Idol winner!!

Yes you are right. New Zealand is a beautiful country. I now live in the United States but went to school in New Zealand. They have some beautiful voices too. I've heard a lot of this famous Lyric but for me his version is the best so far. The Levites sounds like a Whole Choir n the instruments playing, the drums played so perfectly. Yes Amazing Grace is one that has a special place especially in the black church. And though it has many versions and stamps of approval, it's one song so simple in melody yet has a strength as it builds to a strong finish 💪🏾 In a similiar ranking though is "Precious Lord" "Because He Lives" "His Eye is On the Sparrow" and "How Great Thou Art" ... but sung in the black church soul gospel tradition. These songs were often the mournful cry of my enslaved ancestors from plantation barnyards delivered in the most authentic form, sung with command from the gut before the invention of microphones so folks miles away could hear their testimony of "Grace and Mercy" and triumph through painful times .

If you haven't already, his cover of Don't Dream It's Over (originally by Crowded House, a Kiwi group) is incredible. Well worth a look. He also incorporates te reo Maori, to reflect his beautiful culture. Stan also has a documentary on his CZcams channel which is about his battle with cancer. And his original audition on Australian Idol at the age of 18 is a fun watch as well. He is a beautiful soul.
