Be careful with the 40vol developer. It’s not recommended on natural hair, especially the roots. If you used a 30 you will get the same results, just may have to let it process an extra 10 minutes. For your ends, I recommend using the Aztec clay mask, it’ll help repair it some. Overall you did a good job and the color looks bomb on you 😍
Yo I’m in love with everyone pulling up with the tips ! Thanks for the knowledge sis I’m absolutely going to apply that moving forward. One thing though I do find when I do the Aztec clay( I include acv) it alters my color drastically so I use it only for cleansing purposes and very carefully lol
@@albywityou yes be careful! I would only do it when I would want to get the red out of my hair so before a touch up you can and especially if you want to change colors!
@@albywityou I use 40 developer & it's absolutely fine. The difference is that it's faster than other levels so I'd leave it on as long as you did & call it a day.
@@yes2hvn 30 and 40 basically do the same, there's been professional videos on it. Saturation is key to good bleaching.
If your hair seems to be fragile and weak then, by all means. Otherwise 40vol is great imo, of course to each their own. I’ve been messing w my type 4 hair (and the damn dogs) for awhile now and I think you’re about as good as the state your hair is already in at the time. If it needs repair let it get routine moisture and strength before dying at all. Some people lift easily or have a lot of hair but not necessarily dense hair, and I think it makes a difference. It also depends on the colors you want to do in general. 40 seems really intense in this oddly fitting way to me. No rd bleaching no toning. One and done and you don’t mess with your hair again until almost a year has gone by, even then, it fades really nicely depending on colors used and still looks pretty good. 30vol can be left on about 30mins while 40vol should just be about 20...not gonna lie I usually go 30 just by the time I get through the whole head 10 mins is already gone. And my very front takes longer than any other area. The difference really is the higher number you go, the faster it gets rid of the hair pigment, thus the faster it can cause damage. Every single volume above 10 WILL cause damage, the crazy brittle breaking kind happens on crazy damaged unhealthy hair ,or allergies in some cases (to the certain bleached mixed in). While all lighteners technically damage your hair, you can rebuild its strength with a consistent hair routine and a few deep conditioners, or protein treatments if that’s what your hair prefers. I’ve even heard and seen a few people that add a booster serum to their bleaching agent to help protect damage from your strands a little bit, but it knocks the developer used down by a notch, which in my mind just means to use a lower volume then. The hair journey is great and adventurous and we dig the video! That color looks good on her!

The bleach actually breaks some of the molecular bonds in the hair which is why it straightens a little bit not moisture being stripped

Yep that's true ! My curl pattern loosened up after bleaching but it was still soft and didn't have a lot of split ends. I hate when people say bleach is the devil 😂
I’ve never dyed my hair in my whole 28 years but I really want to. Is there any natural dye that won’t be harsh on my hair. I’m scared I’ll be bald if I dye it 😩

You have certain things like hair colour wax or other products you can apply that are temporary and work without dying. Some colours can be done without bleaching like red but it might not look as bright. You do have some natural dyes like henna dye that also strengthen the hair but you'd have to like the colour. It'll take some research on what you want and What works.

Olaplex can stop this effect and so can Fanola fiber fix, and Lanza Trauma treatment leave-in. When mixing your bleach, you should always put in a bond re-connector or rebuilder that buffers the side effects of bleach. My profile pic is of my actual hair, but I'm all pink now. My curls are intact, the same 3c it's always been, lol. But the reason for that is because of the products I've mentioned. I only do it professionally though, cause I have far too much hair to be attempt bleaching it myself. When you bleach again love, just get you some Olaplex number 3 since the first two you can only get at a salon, and place some squirts of it in your bleach, and if that's too pricey for you, get iON reconstructor treatment in the red bottle from Sally's into your bleach though that is just a protein treatment whereas Olaplex is not. At least while you're bleaching your hair is getting protein at the same time. Olaplex would have been relinking the bonds that are broken down while the bleached took away your natural pigment. Next time you won't get straight strands let alone any loosening of curls.

Too many times I would be burning my hands and thighs because I didn’t have gloves.. dying from the fumes because I didn’t have a mask and trying to throw water on my edges when the burn got too real because of the LACK of Vaseline around the hairlines. Sleeping with the occasional deep conditioning is a bug fave of mine. Especially on hair dye nights. I’ve even slapped a deep conditioner on with my hair dye and left on fora out 10ish hours, it came out amazing. Like a deep blue oil painting with purple undertones since I like to mix my colors sometimes. I’ve never bothered toning, I’m gonna try that vitamin c tip soon!! I usually don’t mind and treat it as added depth. Great style girl!

Hey love, I think you’re supposed to put bleach on already-processed tips near the end. Because they are already processed and old, they aren’t strong enough to handle bleach for a long time. I think that’s why your ends got straight ):
Edit - also a lower developer would prevent some of the damage

One tip is you can always leave out the last inch or inch and a half of your hair. Like the ends of your hair just like you did the roots. The ends are usually more fine as the ends are where the breakage starts. It’ll help you not get any stringy/straight ends. Just pull bleach through the ends just before hitting the roots or after putting the bleach on the mid length of your hair. You did such a good job with minimal damage. The green is so vibrant and no colors underneath are showing through!! That’s honestly impressive. I’m a recently licensed cosmetologist.

@@albywityou no problem!! I tried to scroll through some of the comments because I know it can be annoying to get the same suggestion multiple times. You went at it with a good strategy. Most would tell you to section it off more or to use a brush but it appears you got really good even saturation with your hands so it’s not a problem in my eyes. You would probably be a natural at doing hair and pick up on it quite fast!
