  • We went on a mind-blowing cross-country adventure from New York to Washington and back in our 30' RV. Before this trip we only spent 4 nights in our lives in a RV! We had a blast exploring bike trails and the outdoors. We traveled 7000 miles, rode 14 bike trails, visited National Parks, National Monuments, and other incredible places. Come along and see what we were up to. This video covers the second 20 days of our journey heading to the Olympic Peninsula and then returning to New York via the California Redwoods, Moab Utah, Colorado and more.

      It was a big trip. I wish we were out on the road right now, but I need to be patient and spend a little time at home. We can't do everything in the first 12 months of retirement. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year!

    There is an uncanny overlap between your life and ours! We planned a trip from home in Akron, Ohio to many e-bike destinations. We sold our Lectric e-bikes and bought the same Aventons you have. We left home during the heatwave and raced across I-70 to the other side of the Rockies
hitting our first anchor destination of Zion. Every day was 110 degrees, and we still didn’t use the e-bikes. A few days later we made it to the South Rim. It had started to cool off a bit, so we got the bikes out finally. We put 15 miles on them and my wife’s electronics went dead. We had made a huge accommodation to purchase these bikes and make room for them on this trip, but my wife’s bike just returned to us in working order THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS! Though we were able to shift our focus away from Rails-To -Trails for this 6k mile trip, it was a terrible disappointment. Now here we are on NewYears day and Maryanne’s bike still has only 15 mi. on it. These are Aventon Pace 5.3 and this is a known (to the company) issue. Bad controller. If you have the 5.3, look out.😒

      Hi John, Sorry to hear your trip didn't go the way you'd planned. It would be a huge disappointment to have a new bike break down, and then wait for what seems like forever to get it back! We ride Gazelle Ultimate C8's -- have had them for 3 years -- and, knock on wood, other than one flat tire on a different trip, they've worked like a dream. One of the reasons we went with Gazelle is that they should be serviceable across the US. We had hot days too, but it seemed like we were either 1 day ahead or 1 day behind the most brutal hot days. We are planning on going to Zion next October. Thanks for your comments, and thanks for watching. Happy New Year!

    Hi..we just found your channel today.. enjoying. We have an rv very similar to yours.. ours is a Windsport 29m.
    We live in Raleigh NC and found your video about the Falls of Neuse Trail... now watching this one. Got to get out west soon! It seems there is just so much planning and permitting required to really access and enjoy the national parks. Did you have everything planned out or were you spontaneous?
    Oh and we took our RV to western NY last summer and really enjoyed it including Eagle Cliff falls where we also made a video!

      Thanks for watching and taking a minute to comment. We aren't seasoned RVers (yet), so we don't know the ins-and-outs of being spontaneous, and I'm worried about having a camp spot that we know we can go to. We had a lot we wanted to see and a certain amount of time to see it, so we had to plot out where we were going to be every day. I worked on this trip for about 6 months off and on. We did make a few changes in-route because we wanted to add something on, or go someplace different, but that was the exception and not the norm.
      I've lived within about an hour and a half drive of Eagle Cliff Falls all my life and didn't know about it until we rode the Catherine Valley Trail and someone told us about it. We were glad we took the side trip.

      @@Adventuresonebikes yes it was a very special and secluded place. We ended up going twice and made a video there. Watkins Glen was also amazing I hadn't been since I was a kid. We are originally from PA.

    What was the cost of food and fuel for this trip, I'm thinking of doing something like this trip this summer.

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  Pƙed 7 měsĂci +2

      We drove a 30' gas Class A RV -- so we spent about $4,700 on fuel. Food will all depend on how many meals you eat out vs. in your campground. We ate out quite often -- particularly on the days when we were biking -- so I think a good rule of thumb would be to budget $50-75/day for food. But then there is the other big expense -- campgrounds. We learned a lot about choosing campgrounds on this trip. You can always spend less by finding a State Park campground. Thanks for watching.
