- Sega Power Strip review. www.ClassicGameRoom.com
Classic Game Room reviews the SEGA POWER STRIP which can take up to five oversized Sega power adapters! AC power represent with this Sega power bar that features a giant Sega logo in between 5 power outlets. Is it just a fancy power strip or pure amazing? Plug in your Sega Genesis, Sega 32x and Sega CD all at the same time with one power strip. Add in two more sega AC adapters and make it a real party, a SEGA old school AC adapter brick party! Model Sega 1933, the Sega Temporary Power Tap (as they call it) is a glorified power strip with lots of space between the outlets which makes it ideal for plugging in numerous old school video game consoles at the same time. Ideal for those with the massive 3 AC adapter Sega Genesis (Sega Mega Drive) setup with 32X and Mega CD. Sega gaming hardware review. - Zábava
Only CGR could make a 7 minute video about a power strip
Lol, agreed. But if he didn't I'd have never heard of one. I'm going to look around online for one.
And make it glorious.
and make an avgn refrence at the beginning
justin reed you could have heard about it from a 10 second video. it didnt have to be 7 minutes. but thats youtube algorithm, gotta get those minutes!
There should be a crossover video: Lord Karnage coming to AVGN's rescue by suppying him with a Sega Power Strip.
+Jarrah White The day I see that crossover is the day my life is truly complete.
+Awka Liwen I'll have it as my final wish if I ever get put to death
where he trys to calm the nerd when he gets really mad.
The Dark yyyyyeeeeererrreeeeeeesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Kitty McRatSlayer nah mikes bugs bunny outfit
Why arent all power strips designed like this?
All of them in europe were designed in a similar way.
LBPPlayer7 nope they are kinda of same i live in europe and never came across power strip like that
They are if you're British
Why don't all power supplies have a regular slim plug at end of the cord and the brick placed somewhere down the cord?
it's easier to make them in the conventional way, just 2 straight rails of the AC lines along the power strip, it also takes less space.
You can see the sega power strip is wider because it should have a more complicate arrangement inside.
I half expected a nuclear explosion to occur when the SNES was plugged in.
this is something avgn needs
Why dont they just make power strips like this to begin with?
they do in nz
Oh man, that's so beautiful. I've never seen a SEGA POWER STRIP before. You have some wonderful pieces of gaming history. Thank you for sharing.
I imagine that Sega intended for a television and a VCR to be plugged into the last two outlets. Five seems like kind of an odd number of outlets to include otherwise.
or you have the Genesis model 2 & 3.
youvgtdssunk
Yeah, but who owned more than one version of the hardware back then?
i dunno, a collector? or maybe someone who wants moar consoles. but yeah, you're right, it's probably for the tv and the vcr.
Most have 5, so they probally just put five there.
I did but that was part me wanting a Model 1 to go with my Model 1 CD, and that I noticed the rainbow banding on the model 2, I did a similar thing with master system wanting a model 1 as it had a card slot and different built in game, as they were used it didn't really cost much for each.
Music selection. Pineapple for scale. Tackling real world problems. Total fantastic.
"the Voltron of Video Game Consoles..."
Mark, you rock. keep up the great work, thanks for posting!
I hereby name Sega Genesis + Sega CD + Sega 32X combo Ultra Segazord.
Because.
Andrew Singleton Same here.
RT Hey, the pun’s great
Ready for battle!
Prepare the addonbeam!
The Nintendo 64DD has came!
Although I enjoy this system A LOT! AVGN's saying never leaves me whenever I see a genesis with the CD and 32X, "It looks like it's on life support"
Love your vids CGR!
"This button is to call for help if the amount of Sega power overwhelms you." ROFL!
Give that to the AVGN.
I still have mine along with the same exact setup you have there! I kept it all in GREAT condition over the years! This thing was a life saver when it came to powering up this beast! Just NEVER cross the streams like you did in the end of this vid!! And Just a quick mention for fun, I always found putting those stupid metal tabs inside the Genesis Cart port to make the 32X work a giant Pain in the butt for some reason. I never had patients for stuff like that! LOL!
The Southern California electronics chain The Good Guys (gone about fifteen years now) was blowing these out for around $3 at one point. I bought every one I could find, about two dozen. I still have a few today. I had a LOT of video game stuff and that meant a LOT of wall warts. Back before there was much choice in the power strip market, the Sega power strip made a huge difference in creating a setup where any of nearly thirty game systems were usable with just a few button presses to route the video to the TV. (The video switching setup was more of a challenge than the power. You may want to look for the ASCII 6-way S-Video switcher that was sold in Japan and offered by importers in the US.)
Sega Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast yes😄
U forgot the most important thing...
TRUXTON!!!!
Oh my god you used a pineapple for scale. XD. 10/10.
this is one of my all-time favorite game related YT vids
I love the infomercial music you played in the background, made me chuckle.
Got to wonder what Sega had planned for the 2 additional power outlets....Sega 64 Omega Giga perhaps
+Pholiage Or for your TV and/or tuner, and left this way to be uniform with the others.
the tv and vcr......
never heard of that one
+VulpisFoxfire I guess the two extra slots could also be used for the Saturn and the Dreamcast.
I have never seen that power strip before in my life. That is one awesome power strip, not just on looks, but on its versatility too. And apparently thing power strip packed so much awesomeness that its review warranted a near-playthrough of the original CGRHD theme song in its entirety! :D
Also, every close-up reference to the pineapple made me chuckle; something that out of place amidst all that hardware was a nice touch indeed.
Shame the SNES causes a space rift whenever it's plugged in. :P
You are the only man that can do a 7 min review on a freaking powerstrip and make it worth watching! Here's To you!!!
Your reviews crack me up and I love the Genesis. I'm working on acquiring all the above devices for my own Sega.
Here is a rhyme to go with 06:45, if you want to avoid a crazy acid induced video game drug trip, never plug your SNES into the Sega power strip!
I need one of these.
***** Wow, this is kind of amazing. Thanks, Ash.
This looks like the most awesome thing SEGA every made. And I am glad that the DreamCast and even the PS2 have more sensible power management capabilities.
You know, my initial reaction to once the Sega Power Strip power adapter was an estatic, "Yes, yes, yes, yes!!! Thank you so much!" That was so because I had never seen something like that before and that Sega Power adapter would more than completely come in handy for the Sega Genesis console, Sega 32X and Sega CD combination, but in fact, this exceptionally awesome power strip is perfect for the Sega video game trio, as the whole bunch of gizmos does after all have three ginormous power "bricks"! Thank you for manufacturing these in the first place, Sega! Your once forgotten, yet, ultimately remarkable legacy in the earlier revitalized video game market, in the decade of the late 1980s through the very early 2000s, is being remembered and relooked upon again, thanks to Mark from Classic Game Room, guaranteed! 😉👍
I own two of these. Maybe I should sell one on eBay and buy a new car.
HOW BIG IS YOUR ELECTRIC BILL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
***** El chamino is in clear lake
Oh ok
32x
"Even that fits, this thing is AWESOME!"
So enthused!
That was the most entertaining review of a power strip I have ever seen!
Did you buy a pineapple just to make that size comparison?
All power strips in the UK are designed like this ;)
So much longer then needs to be. I love this
Sega Power Strip is pure awesomeness.
Nice video, yet again, from CGR.
Congrats.
looks like he forgot to buy the official sega genesis model 1 extender for sega cd
+reduced fat ice cream is just denial for fat people He actually reviewed that recently. Probably mentioning Van Damme. I don't remember, but probably.
James Frain hopefully he has installed it by now so his sg mash up looks a little less ugly
+reduced fat ice cream is just denial for fat people Also not seeing the audio mixer cable, since he's using a Genesis 1 with a CD 2.
The Super Nintendo needs the power of Sega to work!
"SEGA, my pride and joy" Lol me too man!
God, I'm so glad you put the ColecoVision AC adapter on the end. For most of the video, I was like "that's a nice power strip, but there's no way a ColecoVision adapter's going on there." As if on cue, it appears!
Now if I just had this power strip, I could alleviate the impending electrical fire going on with my current Sega Battleship/Coleco game room.
The only sega power strip i've seeen for sale anywhere is ebay for about $120. WTF
Probably super rare!
+Jackson Petryka $170 right now. Anyone who buys that is an idiot.
"My insides feel backwards, they must have programmed some protection thing in there! Lets try that again!" LOL
Holy crap! I have been collecting sega stuff since it existed an never seen this. This randomly came up in my recommended videos today. I am so getting one of those!
Just bought one for $100 on EBay
that would be so hype! damn another project to do this weekend
WOW. When you were showing it off the second time, AWESOME THE CGR THEME! :D
How has the world of commercial electronics not figured this out? It's simple, yet brilliant.
Wow, I love how you brought the Colecovision power adapter into the mix
The first CGR review I watched. Still enjoying it :)
I've had the power strip for years, since I was a kid and never got rid of it and still use it today for everything.
Thumbs up for plugging in the Super Nintendo into the Sega Power strip and the giving out the G-Major picture.
I love that this epic heroic music is playing in the background as he reviews a power adapter....
SEGA IS IN EFFECT.
Cool how this got on the top-rated videos. Congrats on that.
a 7minute video for a power strip when some games get only like 2 minutes just shows how amazingly awsome Sega is
I love the SEGA logo spread across it. I want all my electricals to have that.
I love your stock music Mark.
The button to call for help comes is quite useful!
Ok now that's just awesome. Didn't know sega made a power strip haha. Can't believe I missed those back in the day.
Hilarious review! Excellent work!
Oh wow, that power strip is actually brilliantly designed. Wonder if there's anything affordable that's designed that way...
Yay! Now you can plug in all the life support systems for the Sega!
I was waiting for the lights to go out when you powered on the strip :D
man sega is like the best video game company ever
so creative with their ideas !
awesome video.... loved the ending lol.
Imagine pluging in another power strip into a power strip. Pure awesome
Best Sega Powerstrip review EVAR!!!!
I felt like I was watching an infomercial. You sir are the Billy Mays of Retro gaming LOL. Very funny presentation.
LOL great review, I want one! Fortunately for me, I keep my Nintendo consoles in a different room! Keep up the good work CGR
Cool Classic game room redoes the Philadelphia experiment - either that or my iPad is playing up!
That is the most badass powerstrip of all time!
Might be my favorite CGR review.
never had a problem plugging them in lol just used an extension chord to put 2 on one side and the last one on the other. worked perfectly
That is the coolest multitap I've ever seen.
Thank you Mark, i never wouldve known that the SEGA POWER STRIP blabla bla... I WORKS!
i had the same thought. i live in Norway and i have never had the problem hes talking about in this video :)
I just bought one of these for $1 at a thrift shop. I had no idea they were worth so much! Crazy!
"That button calls for help if you're overwhelmed by the amount of Sega power in your house" I lol'd
"The Voltron of video game consoles" lol
you rock man.i like all your videos(all that i saw)
Why did I not know this existed!??! Every classic gamer should own one of these.
I never knew this existed ! I totally need to invest in one.
oh crap!!! i have this sega power plug! i used it today!!! i have bean useing it for way over 10 years! and i dont really think about it? it is just part of my life since the 1990's very strong and long lasting it is crazy! when i go out i dont think i would ever here somebody talk about this??? but here we are??? i was thinking sega made it just for me? it blows my mind to see this sega adapter on classicgameroomhd???
i remember buying the sega power strip on clearance sell for $3 around the same time the store was clearing out its sega cd games...best $3 ive ever spent...i think it was normally priced around $12-15
all jokes aside, this power strip is actually awesome
See you brought the old intro music at the end! That was a good reveiw because I geuss it's hard to talk about a power strip for 4 minuites
I like how it gives lets some room between the adaptors so you can see the SEGA letters.
That Coleco adaptor is a beast 0_0
Colecovision AND Genesis/32x/Sega CD!!! Never in my wildest dreams...no household is complete without one (or eight) of these bad boys.
Amazing!, I never knew these even existed!. I need one!!.
Man just imagine how many things you could plug in if you added a "Sega Power Strip" to each of the 5 outlets of the first Sega Power Strip, you could be like God!
I need to pick up one of these.
how can yu not love this guy
I laughed so hard when he put the Coleco PSU into that extension/power strip. I have the same issues with huge Sega PSUs, so I made my own mini extension cables so that I can attach all my PSUs to my 10 socket extension cable.
This is one example where I'm really glad for the design of UK plugs. The sockets on our power strips would be rotated 90 degrees from what you see here, ie the AC adaptors plug in side by side rather than top to bottom.
You could easily plug all 3 into a typical cheap UK power strip.
LOL This is one of my favorite episodes. Funny stuff.
Hey, we got a bit of the old theme music. Nice!
I've never seen one of these. Cool.
Now in England we have these circular power strips called extension leads. They can extend for meters and don’t have issues with to many large plugs due to their shape and work with normal English plugs and not your weird American ones!
The joke thing here is that our weird American ones come in all sorts of normal sizes (like the ps4 and it's slim power cable) unlike the bricks from the 80's and early 90's.
Holy shit, that Coleco AC adaptor is HUGE!
Thanks for the advice!
My favorite part of the review is the ending when Mark plugs in the SNES power supply to the Sega Power Strip.
Still use this Power strip to this day - I plugin all my systems still
