I wasn't aware he died in 2016. I heard this song when I was teenager and now I'm forty is still with me. Thanks for sharing this good performance.... it bring me sad to know he isn't anymore with us I'm realizing we are moving forward to become old. And the subject of this song feels that can stop one day and the teenager vision of never ending is now leaving for a more poetic view of the life

Me too. This is SUCH an underrated lament sung with such a pure voice and simple lyrics. The angst of the opening line, "Here I go out to sea again," resonates today.

I agree, I wish I would have started earlier as well. Been practicing every day. Luckily I could already read music. The most frustrating thing for me is getting my hands to do separate things. Let your hands do what your music brain feels about music, music is not logical, it is feeling. Certainly, be able to read music, chords, is really positive and necessary... For me I began to play an old and discorded piano at 4, and at 7, I told my mother I wanted to learn piano: She said "as you are not able to write correctly at school, you will not be able to read music!..." So I had never been helped to have a piano nor to take lessons. Today I'm 58 years old, since seven year I play computers and synths, electronic piano, ant I prefer to let my hands playing what is in my head, but certainly frustrated, because my hands are used by life. So, I don't try to learn hard, I prefer playing very cool things my music brain create, with my ten fingers, as they are, on my music system, music-computers, synths, and others. Loving this way, I can't be frustrated. I love this channel, it's a pleasure to hear a woman using her learning to feel and create with her marvelous music-brain these pretty arrangements.
It brings memories from over 25 years ago when I was a child and listen to this and felt the sadness...

I recall this song fron the late 80-s. That beautiful mesmerising b&w video they made for this song Colin Vearncombe so young and vital back then. Somehow this video had some dark haunting undertones... And quite recently I saw on YT him performing this song at a TV show shortly before his untimely death. Grey haired middle aged man. All those years passed by so fast...
