    I was on this crossing. We did have some incredible waves, which sent my bed careening across the room. Also, my nightstand jumped up from the floor and turned on its side, breaking the lamp. But that didn’t last long. I was never afraid and never sick. It’s an amazing cruise and cruise line. I highly recommend it.

    Thanks a lot for this amazing video. Great to watch and to see snow.
    Makes me remembering my Atlantic crossing from Southampton to New York on QE2 in May 1987. We had there some quite stormy wheather with heavy rain and waves coming over ship's bow. And then after getting out of swelling and strong winds, captain had to change route due to iceberg warning. Everybody then was just thinking about Titanic 😮and finally we reached New York only with 6 hours delay. In meantime I have been on a lot of ships cruising the whole world.
    But Atlantic crossing with Cunard on the QE2 and flying back to London with Concorde was one of the most memorable and best journeys I've ever had in my life.
    Greetings from South Pacific, island Moorea, French-Polynesia (moved over from Europe) 🏖🌴🦈🌊🌞🐳🇵🇫🇫🇷🇪🇺 - sometimes missing snow ☃️

    I've often wondered why Cunard has QM2 schedule transatlantic crossings well into the winter while seemingly a bit lighter than it could be during Spring and Summer. Now I know why. Having seen this I have to believe that there is an enthusiastic 'cult' following for the winter crossing. Just beautiful. Lovely to see the enthusiastic crew (at 2:30) out on deck taking photos.

    @stephaniewilliams9559 Před 5 měsíci +1

    WOW! This is what an Ocean Liner is built for. I’ve been seeing comments that Carnival, Royal, and those ships do transatlantic. That’s not the point. Sure, they can do transatlantic but not a lot, they would need repairs constantly. That’s because of how the ship is built, the materials, and what she was originally designed for.
    Yes, Royal is doing a World Cruise. They choose Serenade of the Seas for a reason, however.
    There is a reason there is a distinction between an Ocean Liner and a Cruise ship. Functionality, craftsmanship, and how it performs during certain emergencies.
    The Queen Mary in Long Beach was called the Gray Ghost. Why? She was at war! She was painted gray, and transported troops and ammunition across the Atlantic. Her hull was made to break through the ice, mind sweep, ect.
    The QEII (since retired from transatlantic crossings), was built the same way.
    The Queen Mary II is the only Transatlantic Ocean Liner left.
    Can cruise ships like Carnival, and the others like her go through this weather? Possibly, however, they would be worse for wear, and you would have a lot of panicking crew members. Could Carnival and Royal go to war. No!
    Also, sail on the Queen Mary II, not only will you see a difference (staff, room, food, entertainment); but you will feel a difference.

      @@deananthony1000 Of course there are differences. The QM2 is constucted with (if memory serves) 30% more steel than an equivalent size cruise ship. The form factor is diffent - a liner is relatively longer compared to it's width. The bridge and superstructure on a liner are set further back from the bow - and look at the breakwater on the forward part of desk 9. I love crossing the Atlantic on the QM2, but I''d never do it in a cruise ship.

    • @deananthony1000
      @deananthony1000 Před 5 měsíci

      Well I’ve crossed on all 3 Cunard ships and there’s no difference!!!!! Cunard may call the other 2 ocean liners but they were cruise ships being built for carnival when they brought Cunard and it was a late decision to brand them Cunard instead of carnival. Qe2 was a coke cola can built of aluminium and only designed to last 30 years. Of course Mary is different. They was building the largest cruise ship in the world with no plans making it up as they went along. There was 3 or 4 MUSTS from chairman one of which was must be able to pass Panama Canal hence length compared to width. A ocean liner is a form of transport to get from a to b. A cruise ship is ship you get off the same place you got on. Cunard get away with calling them ocean liners simply because of the few Southampton New York crossings they do each year.

    Omg a Ocean Transtlantic Liner is not the same thing as a Cruise Ship - An ocean liner rests lower in the water, which makes it more capable of withstanding heavy weather and rough sea conditions. The bow tends to be longer to protect the superstructure against waves, the material is also different and the lifeboat hall need tocbe higher than in a cuise. A cruise ship, in contrast, generally sits higher in the water and is more vulnerable to weather changes.

      Not true. No difference in ships. Ocean liner is designed as a form of transport. One way journey There was no cruise ships before planes. Cruise ships are designed for a complete journey/holiday. You get off at the same place you got on.

    All that wood outdoors. Must cost a fortune to maintain/replace with all the sun and saltwater exposure.

      The wood is specially treated hard wood and should last for about 50 years.

    Totally cool!! The only way to travel❤. Why don’t more people do this? I know you want more time at your destination and may not have enough time built in for getting there And there are people like me 🤮🤮🤮. But this is so classy ❤. But I guess more people want the floating shopping malls and theme parks.
