  • Gentle reminder to Kpop fans that there's no need to harass someone just to prove a point.
    I hope Imelda Schweighart will see our side in a rational manner.
    Comment down below Filipino artists that you enjoy listening to, mine is currently Arthur Nery and SB19 :)

    Hate is a very strong word but it is not bad to really think hard about the subject of supporting and working towards making our opm music and the filipino identity that comes with that something we are proud of. Sure the Philippines and most of the world are influenced by American culture/pop music even Kpop uses a heavy fusion of American music influence. But Filipinos no doubt about it have become one of the biggest consumers of kpop music to the point that many are probably spending and thus supporting monetarily kpop than Ppop. I think it is important rather than Laitin na hindi cool or unoriginal or Laos or whatever a Filipino fan might think is wrong with Filipino music that they don’t support we should challenge ourselves to make it better , competitive, known world wide. After seeing how sb19 for example have used the kpop system of training but now composing songs that get to the heart of the Filipino audience it shows it is okay to borrow what is working in other countries or genres but make it into your own and why should Filipinos who already are world class singers and dancers not belong in the same world stage as any big groups out there but it always start with support from fellow Filipinos. Let us not saturate our music scene with western and kpop acts where our own can’t even be #1 in our own music charts.

    She said filipinos are losing their identity but she's promoting white supremacy and filipinos are under western culture? WHERE IS THE FILIPINO PRIDE SHE'S TALKING ABOUT? She's also being racist to ASIANS when she's half filipino. She's Ex miss earth but she's xenophobic towards koreans. Asan ba ang korea? Wala ba sa earth?

    Idolizing and loving Kpop didn't mean that you are losing your identity as a Filipino. It's just that we appreciate and admire their musics lmao. 2020 na galit pa rin siya sa mga kpop stans? Our country has a lot of problems, focus on that.

    Not a kpop fan but i agree with you. Checked a bit of her music too. Her "music" isn't good at all. This person, which I've never heard of since this issue, totally has no credibility and doesn't deserve this much attention.

    kpop fans dont just enjoy the music as you say, they try to be or act korean in their dress and mannerisms. my friends little sister is an example, she uses korean expressions on her day to day interactions.
    i agree with the miss earth woman and her comments of how impressionable young filipinos are in something as shallow as kpop. obviously you can like whatever mysic you want and act anyway you want. but as an observer i can see the filipino culture slipping away little by little.

    • @dionysus4778
      @dionysus4778 Před 3 lety

      Kpop is as shallow as any other pop music. If you want to only listen to "real" music that has depth, you should listen to classical music. Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, and Chopin are some artists you can check out.

      that Miss Filipino is not even full PH herself, when I realized she's half German. LOL No wonder she said to literally that PH ppl should kiss a$$ to the white supremacy. If she was White, German, she's the type who would have been enlisted in the Nazi Party.

    Well she's isn't entirely wrong from a more nuanced historical analysis. Regardless of Kpop's quality, South East Asia's frantic obsession with looking apart and commitment to be associated with whiteness isn't a new thing. It's the same reason why Korea also has a high number of plastic surgeries to look prettier and to reshape their eyelids. Philippines has statistically shown to have the same problem. You have to understand that this goes beyond music and into a greater discussion about culture and racial identity.

    • @whateveresther
      @whateveresther  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for this input, Andrew! I think this goes to the fact that the over glorification and fetishization of Koreans fuels colorism and body shaming. But as far as I know, the beauty standards of Koreans rooted from the Western culture. Imelda didn't tackled it enough and she just focused on hating Kpop, that is why I find her venting out as shortsighted and fake nationalism.

      looking prettier, more beautiful, better is not wrong when it's been done since the history of humankind. People normally want to look better by grooming themselves, wearing good clothes, get hair-done, wearing make-up, donning with jewelry, etc. Cosmetic surgery is not wrong, when it's to enhance your physical appearance, just like wearing make-up and wigs. It's true cosmetic surgery seems to be a norm in Korea with many cosmetic surgeons with expertise. But there's a joke saying if not for foreigners coming to Korea to get plastic surgeries, those doctors would be out of business, meaning many non-Koreans come to Korea to get those cosmetic surgeries, like from China. While Cosmetic surgery is popular in SKorea, in the US, Americans are so into Cosmetic dentistry, when they bleach their teeth to super bright white white. Sometimes it looks way to fake white that I have probs seeing their teeth at times. Do I complain that they're being so fake with their appearance? No, because as long as they're happy, ppl should not criticize what they do for their looks. The irony of the American standard beauty is, though, IMO, that they don't like to look white at all, when they prone to get tanned look via tanning salons or at the beach. Again, if that kind of look makes them happy, let it be. If having cosmetic surgeries make you happy, let it be. As long as it does not look like Jocelyn Wildenstein, ppl should do whatever they want with their bodies, when it's not hurting anyone.
