Thank You for sharing, I just order my parts off of Amazon and made a donation to your Patreon. I notice the pre-built version sells for about $240, so this DIY build is a significant savings! :)
No problem at all. I really appreciate it and will put any Patreon funds toward my videos. Great call out on the AHRS. I have a couple more videos/blog posts coming out this weekend that you might enjoy. Stay thrifty out there :)
Wing X pro allows the option of only seeing traffic 3000 +/- your current altitude so your screen doesn’t get cluttered with aircraft
Great!!!, guys like you make the diference in this world.
We all work together to make the world a better place - thanks for taking a look!
Can you get external antennas, mount them outside at a higher location, and use this setup at home to monitor air traffic? What antennas would be economical to get?
Check out the two videos :)

I purchased a set of antennas, to replace the crumbled 978mhz one, on my Dual Xgps. Are they proprietary? They look identical. Could I use the one labeled 1090 instead?
being clear wouldnt that create a green house effect while flying and cause overheating?
Nice, but why is there the constant sound of a radio receiver that is on an empty channel?
vanhetgoor I think that noise you are hearing is the Raspberry Pi cooling fan. I should have disconnected it before I shot the video, however I didn't think it was going to be that loud :(. Thanks for taking a look at my channel and giving back feedback!!
Is this project still going? Can you describe what a “phantom signal” is and if this setup sends any location data other than directly to the iPad?
Is there a similar ADS-B Out setup that is inexpensive and portable?
I am currently doing some research. Good news is that it is currently a moving target, as the price of ADS-B solutions are going down!
I have a very old Narco transponder. Works great today but but for how long? For a transponder replacement, the cheapest option I’ve found is the Stratus ESG for a certified aircraft. It’s not cheap, $2995 plus install. Would love to see if you can find a cheaper option. I could install s sky beacon but that doesn’t replace the transponder.
Will it allow you to use your cellular wi fi, lime the Startus 3? Thanks!
If that thing was just connectable to the Area 660...
What are you using as a tablet? Apple or Android? What is the software on the tablet? What is the source of the image file for the SD Card?
In the video I was using an Ipad - I believe it was an Ipad Air 2. The software was Foreflight. The image on the SD card was the Stratux software/os which can be found on their official site. The stratux can work with most EFBs and Tablets/smartphones!
All this and much more can be found at the Stratux website: stratux.me/
@@davidhand8630 hi Dave, is there any Amazon Fire model that works better than others, any recommendations, I see a 7” listed for $39. Thanks
You can get one from Everlast concepts for $250. Just saw there youtube. It comes complete with weather.
I notice your build has heat sinks and those are sold separately (a.co/4vSf870 ), only $5, I assume you are recommending those as well?
Very good call out. The case in the video came with the fan and heat sinks, however I will make sure to add to the description the link to website the link to the heat sinks as the newer case is better but I am pretty confident it does not come with them.
I purchased a Stratus 2 RX and am very disappointed in this system. This ADS-B IN RX only works, AND I MEAN ONLY, works with foreflight, other EFPs are specifically locked out. So you pay top dollar for a RX and then have to pay for a subscription to their EFP. Stay away from this RX unless you don't want any options for a EFP. BTW you can buy any other RX and use foreflight with it so paying top $$$$ for this makes no sense.
I believe now -- some 4 years later, the table has turned. I don't think Stratux will work with Foreflight (or Maybe it's garmin pilot) ??
