I’m a lifelong competitor who got old and started coaching the next generation. Thank you for the wisdom in this episode.

As a Georgian, I remember watching this semi-final thought we had it secured. Hated Travis with all my life, he's a great professional and a fierce judoka. Good luck to you!

Same here, Avtandil was great against many including French and Japanese, I was so disappointed him not getting Olympic gold!

Last exchange was notably profound. Steven’s and Lex are both profound, but last exchange on weight was top-shelf. Lex said grabbing a truly strong, elite combat athlete is “scary.” Yes it is. But so are the elite guys who are freakishly strong but feel very loose…until they clamp you. Or the freakishly quick and strong. And they’re all proven tough. Combative sports allows for very different physiological types to compete and train. Makes them standout sports.

I like Travis, but he really doesn't give much credit to his opponents lol.

You have to be kinda self-centered to be successful at that high level.

@artemrevelsky that's definitely true, but I think it's how you deliver it. Neil Adams is a great example of a guy who will give all credit to his opponent but acknowledge that there's a part of him that still thinks he's the best in the world and that that's just his ego. I don't know that I've ever seen Travis do that
