    For anyone thinking about going to customs, I cannot emphasize enough to listen to the universal demo version of the IEM you want first. Many times reading or watching reviews, you think you know what you want to hear, but often that can change. I have made that mistake and purchased two customs without hearing the IEM first and regretted one of them for sure. Expensive mistake. Also customs sound different than universal version so listen to the universal demo of the custom if the company has it, not the universal counter part. For example, the 64 audio A12T sounds different than U12T. Listen to the A12T universal demo, not the U12T if you can

    Some advice for people who are worried about custom... I’m going with the Legacy 3s in custom first, only 170 bucks and I can know for sure the stl/molds will work without risking such a huge investment. Especially since if you have to ship the mkII back good luck! 💀 then if they are great fitting I’m getting the mkII MEST.

    Have you ever tried making your own ciem's?
    You use the two-ingredient silicone type, mould your own earplug kits. Put cling film(cellophane) over the nozzle and embed the iem in the earplug mix, in your ear. When it's set remove the iem gently and bore the hole for the nozzle to transmit sound into your ear. Then replace the iem in the mould and when you're happy with it secure it in place inside the mould with a spot of super glue.
    It's alot cheaper and if you like it then you'll be able to have a clearer idea on whether the ciem might be for you.

    Watched this with my custom MKIIs in and I love these suckers. Had ordered the MKI and these were announced before my molds got to musictech. Andrew was kind enough to switch up my order. Also can confirm that UM will send you an STL file of your molds.

    After listening to the universal fit, I knew I had to get the CIEM version. Been listening to them for a little over a week, and summarily all I can say is that they are IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE in all aspects. This is the first IEM I've ever listened to that puts you dead-center IN the music. Bass and vocals are perfect, timbre is excellent, imaging and sound staging capabilities are sublime! The holographic presentation of this set is truly immersive and has completely transformed the music listening experience for me. Definitely an endgame IEM, and my new daily driver.
    Now to find an over-ear headphone that performs just as well. Any suggestions?

    I had the original Mest, and I loved it. Plays my library like a champ! It is the second iem that makes my heart pump (The first one was the akg n5005), Then I decided to send the STL file to musicteck for the custom version. Then the mark II comes out......... ah Shxt. If mark II is not hugely different than the original, I probably skip mark II. Man, that is a lot of money to burn if you think about it.

    Asides from isolation, is there any audio difference between the universal and custom? Ive had the universal for almost 2 years now. I just checked to see if getting them custom re-shelled in possible, and it is. But, outside of being for my ears only and sound isolation, is there any other benefit? I cant find anywhere on the net who has given a before and after review, or universal vs custom review.

    I still haven’t got a custom set yet,,for me I have to go custom why…You essentially listen to everything that I do at around the same volume level,,Plus I don’t even know how to sell my stuff I don’t even know anybody…I do realize there’s the web who would buy for me anyway and how do I do that,,so to make my life easier and spend less money i’ll just go custom…

    From a headphone guy...I would like to hear your opinion, with your music and from a pure "only listening at home perspective" with no regards to price or practicality..just pure music pleasure...how is the experience with something like these Custom MKII (or even Universal) compared to something like HiFiMan Arya?

  • @townofdudleysixth
    @townofdudleysixth Před 3 lety +2

    Thanks for that! Though one of my biggest hurdles is buyers remorse. How long will it be when the Mest MkIII comes out? I'm looking for just 1 end game set- so I want to get it right and stick with it for at least 10 odd years. Every year though a new driver type pops up, we have planar, dynamic, balanced armature, electrostatic and now bone conduction. What's your advice on this? The IER Z1R is missing those 'modern' drivers, the MkII was soon after the MkI and it is between this, the ier, the Odin and JH Jolene

    • @BadGuyGoodAudioReviews
      @BadGuyGoodAudioReviews  Před 3 lety +3

      I'd focus on sound quality and not driver count. I would take Z1R over ODIN Easily. I asked EE about customs for a Legend X. I was and am not interested in an odin. My music shows it to be shouty. Overpriced and overrated . I think the MKI customs are fine as are the JP version. The 1st reason to push the MKII is it actually fit which the MKI uni intl ver did not

      @@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews Fair- thanks for taking the time to give a genuine answer! Wasn't expecting it, but was a pleasant surprise.
      In that case I'll go for the Mest mkII- as I've had issues with fit in the past. Would you have any recommendations for a media player/dac that goes well with this set?

      It's large because the CIEMs will cover your whole ear. Your ears are then sealed & in this case the larger contact surface may does its job better (bone conduct)?

    This is amazing ... thank you for the video bro...One doubt: can we ask the audiologist to make a stl file of the mould and send it instead of the physical one do all the companies accept that ..is it a universal format ...or only companies do that

    • @BadGuyGoodAudioReviews
      @BadGuyGoodAudioReviews  Před 3 lety +3

      Some companies prefer physical molds though atleast up until last year. Empire Ears wanted a physical mold when i asked if STL files were enough. That may have changed. Getting the Dr to do that should not be a problem if they are equiped
