    Homework
The salt Law was imposed by the Britishers . According to this law only state can manufacture salt . And the people have to pay tax for salt . Gandhiji breaked this law because the salt is needed for the people whether they are rich ,poor , middle class . The people had to pay tax for salt that they are using . So the rich people only buy salt and poor people didnot buy the salt . Gandhiji thought that this salt Law will divide the people into rich and poor . Gandhiji wanted everyone to be equal in the society , so he breaked salt Law to prevent the people dividing into rich and poor .

Why did gandhiji break the salt law
    Answer
Gandhiji choose to break the salt law as British government had a monopoly on the manufacture and sale of salt. It also imposed a tax on the sale of salt. Gandhiji believed that it was sinful to tax salt as it was an essential part of food. He led a march to the coastal town of Dandi, where he broke the salt law by gathering natural salt found on the seashore, and boiling sea water to produce salt. This march related the general desire of freedom to a specific grievance shared by everybody, and thus, did not divide the rich and the poor.
