  • It is said, when Marcelo Gandini had shown the first design ideas to Bertone, he exclaimed "Countach"! That word apparently expresses amazement. And that's what got stuck as a name for the new car.
    In a span of 17 years in production run, Countach had gone through numerous changes, making it more capable, more performance oriented, more brut. Lamborghini's original plan was to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary with a brand new car, however with Diablo still appearing too early in the drawing stages, the management decided to focus on bringing out an ultimate statement of a car under the Countach Anniversario name. Though the 25th Anniversary Countach was planned as a limited edition car, preorders and demand eventually made it the most sold units of the Countach.
    The very last Countach eventually came off the factory in 1989, wearing a plain silver paint. That last unit, without any optional spoiler went straight to Lamborghini's ownership, and now is at the Sant'Agata factory museum.

    the countach has been my childhood "car crush". nice to see this one in silver, but i prefer the red variant.

      Thanks for watching :) This very last Countach was done in Silver, and is a museum piece, so i had to target the silver one. The red one looks piping hot, no doubt!

      I always struggle to conclude if I love it more than I dislike it for its outrageous proportions, nevertheless, I find it extremely different. The design existed long before Countach came out, however the publicity of this one helped gain the popularity, and thus helped introduce a whole new design language in the automotive world. The final version does look more appealing, at least to me :D

    • @srideas2286
      @srideas2286  Před 4 lety +1

      The red looks hot :) The 25th anniversary remained on production for almost a year, and when customers had ordered, they would order in their preferred color and would have access to the optional accessories - one of the most common being the optional spoiler. From what i read, this silver one is the last Countach ever produced and had never been sold off to any customer, hence is not wearing any optional spoiler. More of a historical piece document the milestone.

    Looks like a spaceship! Missing the iconic spoiler however. And flatter rims added from the Diablo?

    • @srideas2286
      @srideas2286  Před 3 lety +2

      That spoiler was an optional element for the car, since this particular piece had never been sold and meant to be retained by the museum itself, no optional extras were added. The model would look nice even in the space, no doubt :P
