  • The second-largest diamond in the world, weighing 2,492 carats, has been discovered in Botswana at the Karowe mine, owned by the Canadian company Lucara Diamond. This is the largest find since the 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond was found in South Africa in 1905. The Botswana government stated that this diamond is the largest in the country’s history. Previously, a 1,758-carat diamond was discovered at the same mine in 2019. Botswana is one of the world's largest diamond producers, contributing about 20% of global production. Lucara uses advanced technology to detect diamonds and prevent them from breaking during the ore-crushing process. Although the company has not disclosed the quality or value of the diamond, estimates suggest it could be worth over $40 million.Rough diamond identificationrough diamondstesting strangers diamondsexposing fake diamondsrough diamond auction
