Ebony is definitely representing the audience's perspective here on some level. it makes me sad that such an awesome relatable character was only on for 1 episode but she was pretty on the nose with the meta commentary. i think having her on as a permanent side-character would've made the show too meta.

Since it's a cartoon show, they can just cast someone else to voice Grandad (maybe John Witherspoon's son). Cartoon shows do this all the time, it's nothing new.

It feels like this episode was an allegory to Aaron McGruder's relationship with either management, sponsors, the network or some combination of the three. All of those can try to take your work and pervert it (like the crazy women Grandad dated). It's enough to make someone wanna quit the show (or delete their facebook account) until a new sponsor that seems perfect (Ebony) comes along and gives him hope. They tell him they like what his work represents but he's worried that they haven't seen what he's really about and will bail if they find out so he thinks he's gotta front to keep them (her). Riley represents the possibility of sponsors being leeches while Huey's tryna tell him to give them (Ebony) a real chance because they've been great thus far.
This hits harder after realizing McGruder's involvement ends four episodes later.
