XC3 7 active members party is such a refreshing take on your typical 4 mem party in JRPG
and despite all that just love interaction between them, there's always something going on. Love it!
I love a big party, always felt it should have at least 5.
FETH has four endings, actually. I know because I played it to death as I got it for the lockdown days. Great game, and I will replay it once I have forgotten it enough.
You are confusing me because FETH refers to Three Hopes, warriors game, and FE3H is Three Houses
After Torna, I was very hyped for Xenoblade 3 and it completely delivered. The DLC was a fantastic end to this trilogy (meaning I would be completely satisfied if they did something completely unrelated for the next game). Also loved FE: Three Houses. Someday I will complete the 4th playthrough.
You still need to play future redeemed for xenoblade 3. Really makes the game a 10 out of 10 for me.
Great list, still very relevant to me. I'm still trying to finish the 3DS library in fact! Still working on Pokemon Ultra Sun, Fire Emblem Fates and Shadows of Valentia, as well as Shin Megami Tensei IV and Apocalpyse. One day I will finish those and finally start the Switch titles

The reason why Astral Chain is exclusive is because Nintendo owns the IP.
Platinum are open to make a sequel but Nintendo has full control of that decision.
Yea I don't know why he missed that. It's still possible it could come out to other platforms if platinum publish. Just look at wonderful101 that was co own by nintendo and they give platinum their blessing. I doubt it will happen but would love it to come on pc 4k 60 frames. I really love that game. Been thinking about using switch emulation to see if I could do at least 60 frames.
@@michaelmacorso4479I highly doubt Nintendo will allow them to publish AC on anything that's not a Nintendo platform. I'm really hoping they do an upgrade whenever the next Nintendo console does release 🤞
@butterworthboys4985 you never know depends on the co ownership of the ip. Wonderful 101 came out on multiple platforms and nintendo Co owns the ip. I just beat Bravery default 2 on pc, nintendo was in the credits on the game because they published the game originally on switch. I doubt it will happen but would be good to see astral chain in 4k 60 frames.

I like your list. I would consider only Zelda 2 Adventure of Link as a rpg because it actually has experience lvls. I actually bought SMT 5 before I bought my switch.

On the subject of SMT5, how's the performance of Switch SMT3? Obviously it wouldn't be here since it's not Switch-exclusive, but it's just a little bit of curiosity.
For the longest time I feel Zelda isn't an rpg even with the sandbox games, it has changed and evolved so much that it's more of an action adventure series more than an rpg, even action rpgs have some limitations of how you can move around the overworld.
SMT5 ngl I got super addicted to this game for nearly 500 hours 100%ing it and doing various challenges. But the game was a casualty of the pandemic n like all game studios, atlus needed to finish the game up and release it so this means so much content and story had to be cut and they just had to deal with what they had and make sure the game runs well enough which is a shame because I was looking forward to alot of events with the characters but sadly everyone got their story just shorten or just forgotten completely.

The only thing better than Xenoblade 3 in the top 3, Three Houses being here instead of Engage and SMTV taking the top spot, is the fact that the list has no Pokemon games, which is rightfully deserves given how much better all these games and franchises are despite the formers sheer popularity
I mean u also have to think about how most non-rpg fans just want a simple game and pokemon is very simplistic

I personally preferred Pokémon Sword over SMTV. It had a more interesting story and characters (especially for a Pokémon game) and the online battles were really addictive with the Dynamax mechanic. Not to mention that the DLCs were great too. While SMTV was fun, I didn’t find the story or characters that engaging and the routes diverged a little too late. The environments were also kinda dull to me and the dungeon designs can be painful, especially the one in the middle of the game. FE Three Houses will always be my #1 and Edelgard is my GOAT. I do think that Monster Hunter Stories 2 deserves a shout-out too.

@@badmeetsevil6163 Pokemon Sword is bad and Violet is even worse, just embarrassing games. Sun & Moon were the last decent ones, but the series died after X & Y tbh.

Just with the fact that Nintendo has many RPG IPs still active (and not counting the forgotten ones like golden sun, the last story, mother, etc. I would have even more), anyone can get an idea of the exclusives that their consoles have.
The only NSW exclusive I envy is SMT 5, although I suspect it will come out in other platforms one day.
Astral chain counts as RPG?
I would love a mother collection remade like star ocean 2 remake art style. Nintendo has alot of familiarity with unity, mario rpg, fire emblem engage runs n look great.

SMT5 has such a damn good battle theme
Xenoblade 2 deserved to be on the list. This game has the most beautiful map and an amazing soundtrack. Torna is an amazing DLC. JIN, Lora, morag, Adam, ALL of them ARE amazing character. It has its problems but they are Far surpassed by its qualities.
Xenoblade 2 is good, but Xenoblade 3 is amazing.
2 is my personal GOAT, but 3 is right behind it

I have to agree Three Houses is MUCH better than Engage as far as the story is concerned. I 100%'d both games and poured hundreds of hours into both. Engage was still worth the playthrough

I own all these titles. Of the ones you mentioned, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is probably my favorite. The story was gripping. The music was amazing. The visuals were beautiful. Just an amazing game overall.

Xenoblade 3 was amazing. Beat that and loved it. Super Mario rpg was great also. Finished it last night. It was so charming. Good list. SMT5 is my next one going to play

Hi Erick from snowy Moscow! Actually the plot in FE Engage is not so bad. After 10 or 15 hours it becomes a normal plot like in any other average JRPG. Players should not take this plot seriously, but like a funny one as colors in the game.
Is not bad just doesn't compete with three houses. Still love the game graphics and performance was much better improved.

So glad you made the point about the Zelda games at the end of the video. I consider Breath of the Wild to be the most overrated video game ever made so I’m glad you didn’t include it in this list just to please the people who love this game (which seems to be a lot of people as crazy as that is to me) even though it isn’t really a jrpg
Xenoblade chronicles 3. I liked it until the dlc. DLC made me love it. Now that’s a dlc. Future redeemed. Redeemed my opinion that’s for sure.
Yea future redeemed made xenoblade 3 one of my favorite games of all time. The fan service and ending was beautiful. N of course the soundtrack

Great list! The only thing I'd argue is that maybe Bravely Default 2 could have beat out Super Mario RPG but, putting SMTV at number one makes up for that.
Bravely Default 2 is on Steam, i won't blame you if you didn't know. Square is terrible at advertising if it isn't a AAA game.

Although I like the gameplay of "Engage" more than that of "Three Houses". I didn't finish it for a long time since I hated the story and the vast majority of the characters to death... in that aspect it was a big disappointment. I agree with this list.
Engage also has very strange character designs, the main aspect I don't like on them is the clashing bright colors and clothing
It was my first FE game, and couldn't keep going with it. Not horrible but not as great as I expected from all I heard about FE games.
@@denisfolcik1373 Agree, definitely Engage it's not the best game to get into this series, if you have access to a 3DS those games are more approachable for beginners
@@timedasher the Switch is my only Nintendo system since NES. It wasn't that it was hard, or confusing, it just didn't engage me, pun intended. Been playing Octopath Traveler on my Switch since, and if I never love a Switch game again, it will still be worth it for how much I've enjoyed OP tho.

Get tactics ogre reborn but out of the games you mentioned I would go with octopath
@keonhobgood1551 Tactics Ogre looks interesting, but I was told it had some performance issues on Switch. If that's not the case, I'll happily pick it up another time. I ended up going with Octopath 2.

There are very few exclusives, although there are high quality ones. I'm missing Astral Chain from this list, Mario RPG I don't take it into account since I can still enjoy it on snes.
What do you mean? The Switch literally has the highest amount of exclusive JRPGs of any console.
@@ltb1345 i play in pc. You can find in Steam a lot of games like triangle strategy, bravely default 2 , octopath 2 ,etc... So i prefer that versions.

the best part of fire emblem engage, besides not playing it lol, is the fell xenologue, that is actually better than the main story
XC3 is the only from the series that I liked. Only the UI sucked and some colour choices here and there, but it's still a 10/10
Nintendo funded the development of Astrail Chain and that is why it will forever be a switch exclusive. I just hope we get Astral Chain 2 someday.

Fire Emblem 3 Houses has massive slowdown while in 3D mode. Engage runs better for some reason.
Pretty spot on for me with the exception of Xenoblade 3. Xenoblade 3 was death by a thousand cutscenes. It ruined the flow of the game for me. I'd put 3 Houses at the top myself.
On FE Engage, the story was so bad, even the best of series gameplay couldn't keep me going. I guess whether to play it or not depends on how much you value story.
Absolutely perfect top 3, all really good games, I'd swap Xenoblade and Smt though.

Finally got a Switch a year ago, and why are games still full price even if years old? Ive found so many under the radar games on PS over the years finding them cheap, but with the Switch, its like pay 60 for any version of Fire Emblem, Pokemon, or Zelda, which are usually always atleast good if not great, or pay the same price for some random game that looks interesting but could possibly be crap.
Don't mind paying new release price but just doesn't make sense when its a couple years old.
That’s Nintendo for you. Buy used and that problem tends to go away more than not.
@@johnathanrhoades7751 even used I've noticed they are still close to release price. I bought Octopath Traveler used years after release and it was still 50+
@@denisfolcik1373 sure, if it’s a more popular title like that (I know it’s nothing in popularity compared to some AAA titles, but Nintendo consoles are a bit of a different scale as they don’t get most AAA titles), it will still be up there.

Lol I bought super Mario rpg day one and haven’t played it because of a mishap with an sd card swap and my Pokémon saves but I finally almost have arceus finished and I can move on to the games I would have been playing. So now I get to choose after I’m done to play undertake bayonetta two sense I just finished one or super Mario rpg I honastly can’t wait to play something besides Pokémon lol
there really isn't a lot of exclusive RPGs on Switch most of them are Xenoblade and Pokemon

Good list except i would put Engage over three houses. Good thing you didn't include pokemon. I've outgrown the franchise and it feels too stale for me now esp the crap violet scarlet. I love SMT V, i've enjoyed that game so much when it first released.

Xenoblade 3 wasn't as good as 2 but otherwise good list.
Yeah zelda games are not RPGs, not even the latest two releases. They are open world action adventure sandbox games, amazing and honestly unbelievable good, but not RPGs

I didn’t like Astral Chain that much and I think it’s very Overrated
The controls are a pain in the ass to deal with, really :/ hope in the future if they ever decide to make a sequel, they streamline controls and actually make them Mappable.... I have a seething hatred for developers that don't add mappable buttons in their games.
My only problem with smt 5 is that it was just too easy. Unfortunately
Yep, if you are used to the press turn system the game is really easy, still a good time
Yep, it's the easiest game in series, because they nearly removed dungeon crawling, added lvl scaling (which means grind = win, unlike in previous games) and bosses only have 2 press turns (with some exceptions) + Magatsuhi Skill is very easy to counter.
Smt 5 is fun game. It just didn't deliver on what Megami tensei is really about.

There is only few more Switch ekslusives, and most of them are Momotaro Dentetsu (which is only in Japan)/ Mario / Pokemons or Zelda. The only one exception is Triangle Strategy. Rest of rpg's are multiplatform.
I know he only likes jrpgs but mario rabbits fantastic series. Zelda should of easily been there if he play the games. I forgot alot of jrpgs that was exclusive is on other platforms now.
SMT V is good game, but worst mainline game in series. It's just worse clone of Nocturne.

It's a damn shame about Engage, the censorship and woke localization army got to it, the translation is god awful. I don't get why Japan lets their art get ruined by dorks in the west.

Xenogears 3 is just a pale shadow of Xenosaga or Xenogears with a stupid childish "friendship power" story, a degenerate battle mechanic and a length of billions hours been thrown in a dump.
