Just did a polygraph for police process, in the drug and criminal acts portion he kept asking me about my involvement in selling drugs which is 0. He told me I was lying and that I was hiding something from him, he then started to try and get a reaction out of me by telling me that I was a failure and things of that nature and that I was going to be thrown out of the process for lying. Then 20 minutes later says congrats you passed and that I did great lol

I took mike today. They also told me that I was hiding something in that same topic in regards to drugs consumption, distribution, etc. They kept asking the same question over and over just rephrasing it. I’ve never done drugs or even been in contact with them. Not sure why it spiked on the poly.

The Polygraph and other pseudo science “lie” detectors such as Eye Detect (pupil dilation monitoring) and the CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analysis) are all scam props. These fraudulent devices are worthless for actually determining truthful or deceptive answers. The scam of these devices are to scare confessions out of naive criminal suspects whom actually believe they work in a legitimate way. There is no Pinocchio 🤥 effect when a person lies. Your nose doesn’t grow when you lie. These industries rely on you to believe in the Pinocchio effect. You can be nervous and truthful at the same time. If you were to even believe in the pseudo science that these industries depend on you to do, one needs to understand there is absolutely no way to have a “non-relevant” or “relevant” question that are equal anyways. Example given, it’s impossible to ask someone “is your name ________” vs. “did you have sex” or “did you kill”. Your physiology isn’t going to be the same regardless and your physiology is meaningless anyways. Nervous people can be truthful. Calm, cool people can be liars. There are videos that demonstrate these scams on this app. Look up the ‘60 Minutes Polygraph episode titled “Truth and Consequences” with Diane Sawyer’ , ‘ABC News Exposes NITV CVSA Scam’ and ‘Dr. Drew C. Richardson’s 1997 Senate Testimony on Polygraph Screening.’

The USA 🇺🇸 Supreme Court, in an 8 to 1 majority opinion, 1998 US vs. Scheffer, ruled after exhaustive study and debate, that the Polygraph is reliable as the “toss of a coin”. I've taken multiple polys. On the last ones, I passed my Poly with one agency and Voice Stress with another. On both fronts I thought I failed. Both had me re-answer questions that kept giving me problems so I thought I was done for. In the end, I got calls from both agencies to continue in the background process.
My advice is get all of your stress out the way by talking honestly and candidly with the polygrapher. Once that is out of your system, you'll feel alot better going into the actual polygraph exam. You don't get DQ'd for minor wrong doings (in some cases major) in the past, but you'll get DQ'd for lying.

I applied to be a cop and went through the hiring process and got to the polygraph lol. I passed it but the funny thing is I lied about multiple things multiple times because I never wrote it down on my big life packet I had to fill out. It really is crazy that if you just look forward and just breath in normal calm breaths and not move while you are in that chair, then you really can pass a polygraph. I was super surprised when they told me I passed with no triggers or anything that showed me maybe even lying. So yes, I would say you shouldn’t even use a polygraph for the hiring process.

This reluctance derives partly from the code of silence that governs police practice and from the ways in which the system of mass incarceration is structured to reward dishonesty. Yes, miss one and it's automatic dq anywhere. They sit down with you beforehand and go over any responses you say yes too and want additional details. Once the test starts they expect complete honesty based on what you discussed after you answered your questions on paper. If deception is detected they will give you a couple chances to answer and usually it will end as soon as they don't get a truthful answer or inconclusive. If it is inconclusive, you will have to come back a different time and will be asked the specific inconclusive questions again until truth is detected. One deception is all it takes, even at the department I'm applying for where they literally do urine tests and allow possession of schedule 1 drugs as long as it wasn't in the last three years. No matter how lenient the department is in their need for officers, they will always end you at the first sign of deception

They have the “results” when finish. The results are meaningless unless you subscribe to the Polygraph Industry standards and pseudo science. Please read my comments next to yours for more information. By the way, the basic polygraph machine in use for the past 100 years was created by W. Marston, who also created the Wonder Woman character and her “lasso of truth.” Starting to see a twisted parallel? Believe me, since I have actually experienced being “tested” and by two types of polygraph test, one the traditional sitting with wires and breathing monitors and the other more modern scam version called “Eye Detect” where a camera monitors your pupils for dilation. I was anxious to settle a trust issue and was told by my examiner, that by taking the two, it increases the accuracy to 99% . Well, I can testify today, he said I “failed miserably” and as a result of his comments partially, I am now in a bitter divorce unfortunately. He was a Snake Oil salesman as I am aware of now. Please at least watch the 60 Minutes episode I mentioned called “Truth and Consequences” with Diane Sawyer. I promise that will open your eyes. I only wish I had seen that before subjecting myself to the SCAM artist I hired .
