  • Stefan Fegerl (* 12 September 1988 in Gmünd ) is an Austrian table tennis player . In 2015 he became European champion in doubles and with the Austrian team .
    He has been training since the opening in 2011 at the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat, Austria.
    Career
    Stefan Fegerl achieved his first international success at the 2005 European Youth Championship, where he finished the final with Xiaoquan Feng. In 2011, 2012 and 2014, he became a member of the Austrian Champion, and in 2013 he first appeared in the Top 100 of the World Cup . Since 2007 he has participated in nine world championships , where he became fifth with the team in 2012and 2014 . He also won bronze at the European Games 2015 in Baku with the team .
    Stefan Fegerl won the title in doubles together with the Portuguese João Monteiro at the European Championship 2015 in Yekaterinburg and in the team competition with the Austrian team. In the same year, he entered the World Tour final for the first time in Warsaw . After a semi-final win over the incumbent Olympian winner Zhang Jike, he lost to the Chinese fan Zhendong in the final . As a result, he was able to win Robert Gardos in the World Cup in Decemberand thus become the first-ever top-ranked Austrians. The placement also made him the first to take part in the Europe Top-16 , where he finished sixth in February 2016.
    In 2016, he was again Austrian Champion and ETTU Cup winner with the Verein Weinviertel Niederösterreich , which was subsequently dissolved . On 13 January 2016 his change to Borussia Düsseldorf was announced, where he received a two-year contract until 2018. [6] He qualified for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , however, he lost his first game against Kōki Niwa in his first game and lost the team in the quarter-final against Germany's bronze medal winner . In his first World Cup participation, he reached the round of 16, in which he was 2: 4 against number 10 in the worldYoung Young-sik lost.
    Private
    Stefan Fegerl's life companion is the Austrian table tennis player Li Qiangbing . Together they have a son born in 2013.
