Despite personally liking Chronicles, I still agree with your opinions. :) The Rome sequence is by far the weirdest thing in this game, purely because of the ways Pierre and Larson are taken out. After the flashback, Winston or one of the others, says that it was the first of her real adventures, meaning that that sequence takes place before the first game. So how Larson survived being bitten and thrown by a gargoyle snake, and Pierre surviving the pit fall most likely with broken legs is beyond me. Or Winston's just senile and Lara got the Philosopher's Stone by other means. :/
I've been asking myself about this continuity error when I first played it when I was 12 years old. It was written by somebody who joined the CORE team after TR1 and didn't care about the events of that game.
i wish its just winston being confused lmao, this section was cool designed actually and i liked it but i remember how i thought "lara met larson and pierre later? did they survive? what?"
I like to think either Lara or Winston are lying about how Larson and Pierre died. Maybe Lara didn't want to tell anyone about Atlantis. Underworld would mess that up but apparently those are a different canon anyway. I know they either just forgot or said screw it, but I like my idea better.

I have no idea where these criticisms come from. I just came here trying to figure out why people dont like this game but enjoy revelations so much. To be 100% fair, this game isnt even close to being the game to be a "cashgrab" or a buggy mess, or the game that nearly shut the TR games down. And for gods sake, something about 1990s games perpetually shoving you in underground labyrinths (half life etc) like the previous game is horrendously boring. I somehow comforted myself that Larson and Pierre survived Rome, because not even Lara could've been such a murderous a$$hole to Pierre. The forward roll out of a shaft would be definitelly handy in TLR. There even seemed that lvl designers were trolling players by puting the shafts between two areas simply just because. Regarting TRC at one point the forward roll is essential for getting into the mill in the Ireland mission. I was stuck quite a bit in that section only because I did not know she could do the roll. Also getting the crescent piece of the gold coin is BS. Lara could reach it when it lies on the ground level, but no, it must be torso high as the only animation for grabbing is from pedestal.
The worst moment in the game is when you have to get rid of that big bolder out of the way into a crawl space, immediately drop down, open a gate, and crawl through ANOTHER hole on the wall. Like, once wasn't enough? You have to do it twice right next to each other? That always irritates me and it completely overshadows any other issue in the level design or puzzles in the game for me.
I'm absolutely baffled by the people in this comment section claiming THIS to be their favorite classic TR. I lack the stupidity to relate to that opinion. This is so obviously the most broken, poorly-executed garbage in the franchise besides Angel of Darkness, and it's such an obvious cashgrab thrown in at the last minute, right after the team was just DONE making these games because they were so grossly overworked from constant crunch. If this is your favorite TR, you are part of the problem in the gaming industry. It's people like you that confirm it's okay to release garbage at the expense of the developers, the real people's, wellbeing.
Antonio Campione I didnt realize they had expansions until i started TR2 on PC. my file was called the Golden Mask but it was just the base game. I dont like going out of order so if anything all the expansions would get grouped together in one video following Rise of the Tomb Raider.
@@TheGameStatistic I find it weird that expansions are not available to buy anywhere, except by the 1C's digital stores (like Muve) which and they cost a peanut. I'm new to Tomb Raider series and really liked expansions, pity no more people could experience such nice additions...

Um... I’m not sure why you called Lara’s father an ‘Irish priest’ few times, but I guess you were just trying to make jokes by doing that especially called Lara’s father as her ‘friend.’ Ha.. ha.. Even tho you’re playing this game on PC, I’m pretty sure that it’s not that terrible from playing the game on PS1 or Dreamcast version itself.
I was looking at the credits and I saw that one of the level designers was Andy Sandham. Andy Sandham was interviewed about Tomb Raider Chronicles and was quoted by calling the game "a load of old shit" "We were effectively just doing that for a paycheck because no other team wanted to take it on, so we had to do it basically. Three years of hammering it and we were burnt out. That shows in the product".
Dude were you ok when you recorded this? I've watchd your TR2 video which showed up in my recommended and I liked it very much. I liked also TR3 e TR4 videos too... but this is a pain to watch. I get the gimmick in regard of the game not being as good as the others.... but doing a whole video with this voice tone is too much don't you think?
Antonio Campione eh. it seems like this is a love hate one for most of ya'll. i stand by my low effort game low effort voice approach. if this was a pain to view then congratulations, you know how it was like to play. a pain. i knew the style shift would piss some people off, but this aint my full time gig. i aint in this to emulate the typical yt gaming channel. this is a passion thing.
Actually I played it back in the days when I was 10 or 11 years old. It was my second TR game, The Last Revelation being the first which I wasn't able to complete. After the Alexandria stage that shit gets fucking hard for a kid. Chronicles was certainly shallower but also easier. Anyway: if you think you've seen cuntiness up to this moment... well you ain't seen shit XD. Be prepared for Angel of Darkness, a game which requires doing actions never explained anywhere before. In my case, not knowing of the possibility of switching target made impossible to get past Boaz (no internet 14 years ago) and getting past lasers in Von Croy's apartment with fucking normal jumps was a pain in the ass. Never heard of commando crawl until I met the internet many years later! Maybe this was acceptable for 1999... but this came out for the next generation. That was unfortunate because it had a very good plot and ideas. I'm sure you're going to go apeshit talking about this crap in your next video ;D
Antonio Campione im guessing you got that on ps2. im currently on angel of darkness. its literally unplayable on PC. or very close to it. its not gonna be a fun game to complete.
Although your Tomb Raider reviews I've seen thus far have been entertaining to watch, I can't help but wonder if maybe you're just not that good at the games. I'm not good at racing games or football games. I'm not that good at fighting games. It's okay x
i always try to consider if im just in the wrong head space. if you saw behind the scenes i let A LOT of things go and only mention the stuff where i could not fathom arriving to that conclusion.
I totally agree. I figured everything out that he complains about the game being difficult when I was a 10 year old kid. He's too jaded by playing modern games which hold your hand through everything nowadays. When TR5 came out, we hadn't been playing easy games that told you everything you need to know in the first 5 minutes all our lives. We figured it out through trial and error and - guess what - dying a lot! That was just part and parcel of playing and learning the game. It wasn't seen as a negative because that's what all games were like! Modern gaming has ruined our ability to look back on old games now as we're so used to having our hand held
Nah man theres so much in TR5 that i didnt mention because the righful conclusion was me being stupid. but hey if you think a game not telling you about certain skills is good thats cool too.
@@davidoo there’s a difference between trial and error games where the games are difficult but still well designed like Splinter Cell and Ninja Gaiden, but TR5 just seems like people were suffering burnout
Wouldnt that require an opening skit of me trying to fix a mans vcr which becomes a perpetual cycle of jobs that never advance which becomes a short stint getting stuck in a house attached to a giant hot air balloon which lands on the top of a mountain...which then slides off the mountain only to land in a crater? then i just say fuck it and drop the entire plot line and attempt to gay marry the man for his money? but then i drop that plot line? i think... and just invite rich evans to review a movie because it involves comics or games? ... man rich evans should just do my reviews.

2. Tomb Raider - Legend
3. Tomb Raider - Underworld
4. Tomb Raider 2
5. Tomb Raider - Chronicles
6. Tomb Raider 1
7. Tomb Rader last Revelation
Just pointing out the real tomb raider classic not the new ones
My list would be 1 4 2 5 then 3 I cannot even look at the rest without vomiting im talking about the ps1 games btw
Mr. Plinkett is reviewing tomb raider games now!
Irony that you complain about this game being slow yet you talk at a fuckin snails pace throughout it!
Method acting review, love it hahaha
das wärs, wenn der gute alte rupty mal ein Playtrough durch die ganzen alten tomb raider games machen würde :)
One thing I forgot to ask: have you considered doing the expansions for the first 4 games? It would be interesting to know your thoughts on those also
Antonio Campione I didnt realize they had expansions until i started TR2 on PC. my file was called the Golden Mask but it was just the base game. I dont like going out of order so if anything all the expansions would get grouped together in one video following Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Can't wait for it then :)
@@TheGameStatistic I find it weird that expansions are not available to buy anywhere, except by the 1C's digital stores (like Muve) which and they cost a peanut.
I'm new to Tomb Raider series and really liked expansions, pity no more people could experience such nice additions...
Alright I'm at a loss where the hell does that "Don't get your knickers in a twist" clip come from?
Because goddammit that's funny with your reaction. Your voice gives off the Plinkett vibes and if you're going with that? Bravo 👍
It comes from zip in his cutscene.
It is here that Game Statistic began evolving into Mr Plinkett
Because it actually was an Irish priest? he's not Lara's father.
That shows in the product".
played the whole game on dreamcast. loved it!
Worse than 3?! Good lord!
Zip is more of a New Yorker stereotype than a black stereotype.
25:42 Everything comes back to ATLA
great review
remember effort?
Good luck with that, but it's definetely doable
I got the PC version too unfortunately and I can clearly remember some weird bugs still today.
This is definitely the worse Tomb Raider. Tomb raider 2 Gold was better the best thing was her catsuit that's it literally🙄
...I guess I'm the only one in the comment section that realizes his "boredom" is a Mr. Plinkett impression?
Lol. far from it.
The Game Statistic Then I must be the only one that DIDN’T think it was a bad thing, lol.
I've seen a good number of his videos but this one....killed him.
you should be acting in Napoleon Dynamite movie
RIP of of half in the bag
Wouldnt that require an opening skit of me trying to fix a mans vcr which becomes a perpetual cycle of jobs that never advance which becomes a short stint getting stuck in a house attached to a giant hot air balloon which lands on the top of a mountain...which then slides off the mountain only to land in a crater? then i just say fuck it and drop the entire plot line and attempt to gay marry the man for his money? but then i drop that plot line? i think... and just invite rich evans to review a movie because it involves comics or games? ... man rich evans should just do my reviews.
Tbh I have watched alot of your videos and I am now a life long subscriber! Good content. Hats off sir. In anyways J and Mike are frauds and Mr plinket is dead. Fuck movies
Performance is an issue alright, I bought all games on GoG last month, and the graphics look very bad
All others look the same.
Also, the bit with Pierre and Larson was dumb, yeah
She killed the guys who were already dead, wtf
Is the narrator completely off his face ? 😂😂😂😂
Are you not?
He admits being "too fucked up to yell" cuz he's been downing vodka pudding
Hated that fucking search animation in Chronicles!
you sound like the one guy from 13 reasons why.
Red letter media much? Plinkett called...
So glad u don't do all the reviews like this.
theres always the rerecord
where can we watch these playthroughs? they seem fun lmao
i never streamed them. foolishly enough. just record for my editing purposes
Along Angel of Darkness this is the worst game in the franchise. I absolutely hate Chronicles and consider it unplayable I have no fucking idea why I even finished it.
Such a bored sounding narration!
How much is this game worth?
Like $2.34
11:50 HILARIOUS
You on a binge watch? :,). made my day.
Only played the first 4 games, looks like I got out at the right point!
One of the worst games I have ever played.Last levels cryptic and annoying.Waste of time.
you dont have to speak so slow
Waste time exploring areas near the creepy mole baby.
What is wrong with your voice why can I not hear you at full volume
For the joke of being miserable. It doesn't well with the audience :/
ye. i may have to redo it
well apparently core design tried harder at making tomb raider chronicles than you at making analysis for your channel. I was searching for one but unfortunately I’ve only found 37 minutes of exhausted complaints and you slowwwwwly expressing your own emotions.
huh. did you post this under your kevin secolo account only for yourself or youtube to remove it? huh. There's always the shit lost rerecord. if not im up to see where you think the arguements fall flat.
@@TheGameStatistic I'm not sure why this was the fact you focused on, amongst everything else in the commentary but anyway, this is where I concentrate tomb raider activities. Well, unfortunetly you annoyingly keep showing up in my home page regardless where I'm logged at. Already made 100% sure I'm not subscribed but even so. Maybe CZcams's algorithm thinks this is something I would wanted to see. Shame.
Ah good as long as it was on gour own terms. i quite dislike it when youtube removes things for being negative or "insulting". If your an AOD modder im gonna high key be checking for any improvements made to that game. starting with those camera fixes. Idk why youtube is pushing my garbage. this one doesnt represent what my others are like but meh. def hit that unsub. dont let em tell you what to do. theyre not your real dad.
The zombie-dead voice killed it for me to watch the video. It sucks. Dislike.
This is a very bad review.
