We don't know who you are either but we know Angelina is unlike any singer we have seen before. Her ability to re-arrange classic songs and then make magical vocal choices is the work of a genius.
Since becoming a Angelina angel, I have done my best to introduce Angelina to new people. On CZcams, I began by enticing reaction channels to feature Angelina with good success and thank each reaction channel as they do introduce new people to the artist they feature. About a year ago, Angelina's team told us angels they believed reactions were hurting Angelina's analytics. There is some logic that if angels are watching reaction videos then they have less time to watch the original video. We enjoy reaction videos and don't want to hurt those channels so the solution was to suggest reactors encourage viewers to watch, like, share and comment on the original video. Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

This will be hard to believe, but if you knew Elvis’s original version of this song, you’d be even more impressed with what Angelina has done with it. She pays respect to Elvis, but this is her song now. Completely different, beautiful, sincere. Her outfit is the black leather Elvis wore, her hairdo copies Elvis’s wife, Priscilla.

Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes.
I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻

That beehive hairdo is what Priscilla Presley wore in the era of getting married to Elvis. Clothes & guitar are nods to Elvis, as is the jumpsuit worn by the pianist. The two little cousins and her younger sister dressed in white represent Angelina's growth physically and artistically to the present day 2022 at 16 years old arranging her own cover of a song made famous by Elvis. She slowed it down and opened up the heart of the story and its truth, its message. And she did it in her jazz way that is her foundation. I'm glad you were amazed, since this whole video and song arrangement are of the highest quality artistry. Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction. BTW, the older I get, the less I know who I am. I am certain you know that the song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

Any time I think she just cannot get any better, she just goes ahead and proves me wrong. It is glorious to be proven wrong. Her voice gets richer and more mature and better all the time.
Elvis’ version is a cover as well of Mark James’ original. Elvis’ version is more upbeat and with his masterful showmanship it is a lot of fun and great to watch. However with his timbre I wonder how distraught he was being caught in an inescapable trap. Angelina’s version is more stripped down, slower and she adds a lot of melancholy. She makes me hear and feel the sad story where love is being destroyed by distrust. Angelina’s version fits the story better I feel.
