- The heat wave that has swept across central Ohio has been terrible. We’ve been lucky to get the Air Conditioning up and running in the shop.
After a weekend Racing and watching Jet Cars at our local track, Billy suffered second degree burns to his face and arm after the fuel tank from the Supra exploded in Billy’s face.
I explain what happened, and how Billy is doing.

Bad news all around Lizzy Musi passed away last night . Keep the Musi family in your prayers too.

I spent 7 days in a coma and 3 months in the hospital and had surgery 3 times when I got burned in 1980. So I am truly glad it wasn't worse Billy. Praying for a speedy recovery for you.

This is what worries me most bout all these guys Eric is they won’t wear their seatbelts at all unless they are headed down the track and that’s cause it’s mandatory. It’s not their driving I’m worried about but all the other crazies on the road and I’m scared to death we are gonna hear one day that one of them got T-boned or hit head on by someone on their phone and it’s gonna change everything instantly when it can easily be prevented. My wife was a burn & trauma nurse for 25 years and the things she saw and had to deal with haunted her daily and especially at night and the sad thing is 99% of them were preventable. And little Addie is following right in the same path and it’s gonna be heartbreaking one day.
I have seen enough people I know die in crashes they should have survived from not wearing their seatbelts. I got to call 911 for the young girl I worked with when I saw her spin out and go off the road in the snow. She was now sitting in the passenger seat when I stopped with the window blown out from her head smashing the glass. She was brought to the hospital but didn't make it, I got to work and was the one to break the news to her mother. Very sad, wish people would stop trying to be cool and just wear the thing already.
@@cb84capri One advantage to wearing a seatbelt is that it holds you in place and allows you to control the vehicle even after a hard hit. Last year I hydroplaned on the highway and bounced off the concrete barrier. If not for my seatbelt I would've flown out of my seat and lost control completely.

So glad Billy will be ok. In a rush to get stuff done we sometimes take short cuts around safety. Please everyone, take this as a subtle reminder that safety always comes first. In the last few weeks, a couple of other CZcamsrs had mishaps with lifting vehicles for service. Matts Off-road recovery had a C60 truck slip off one leg of a lift. VGG pulled his old pick up off jack stands while pulling the engine as they thrashed to beat a deadline. Fortunately, no one got hurt in either incident. Getting hurt takes all the fun out of it.
Damn at the burns this year, first Jimmy Dale and now Billy. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery for Billy .

I got a lot of respect for Billy Sharing what happened to him I got to admit I wouldn't have told anybody what actually happened... And I am guilty of doing the same thing and even welding on tanks.. I'm going to learn from his misfortune and rinse it out or fill it with CO2 in the future... I've still never had anything happen to me in 35 years that hurt worse than Burns.... wishing a speedy recovery Billy

Thanks for showing the results of the explosion it will hopefully help others to rethink how vessels are handled. Don't rush the healing infections will be a setback. Get well soon.
For the working class, doctors recommendations, ugh, but most of the time the DRs orders need to be followed especially with this kind of injury.

They way you have taken Addy under your wing has me reminded me of the old timer that done the same thing with me when I was 17 I bought a old junk 70 nova with sheet metal screws holding the rear quarters on and the guy named Don gave me a .60 over 327 forged crank and a set of old school 2.02/1.60 double hump heads and I traded the power glide out of the car for a Muncie m22. That was my first street race car and in the mid 90’s if u run high 11’s or low 12’s and made 1 hp per cubic inch you had a hot rod. I’m now 45 he is now 78 and he still street races he still helps me when I need help.

Will say a prayer for Billy and your family, just pulled tank out of my nova last night and got gas all over garage, what a mess and fumes always scared when doing that work. You all have a great thing going and your attitude is spot on.

Today’s my 39th birthday I just got out rehab from having a stroke on Mother’s Day and I don’t care to see anyone friends or family but the ppl who already seen my my close family. I just say this to tell Billy it’s always doing worst than u I can barely use my right side of my body which is my dominant side I feel like a half of person. Came outta nowhere BUT IM FIGHTING THROUGH IT BECAUSE I KNOW ITS PLENTY PPL IN WORST POSITIONS THAN ME. LIFE IS SHORT CONTINUE TO LIVE AN LOVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT

I was taught decades ago to fill the fuel tank with water before any modifications. I do this for a living, and continue to learn new things everyday. Some days I learn the "hard way" also. Happens to the best of us.

I had a radiator Cap blow on me back in 93! Burned the right side of my face and neck and literally rolled the skin off my right shoulder! I will never forget that day! The scars have almost all disappeared, I just have a little mottling of color patches on my shoulder! God speed on your recovery Billy - I'm praying for ya bud!

Been a lot of burns this year. Jimmy, Steve and now Billy. All young guys making mistakes that old experienced guys wouldn’t make. Got to be careful and keep safety in mind at all times.
