On the previous episode, we explored the amazing sights, culture and foods of Hunza Valley, Pakistan. On that day, we also were invited to a local village wedding to experience Pakistani Village Food. In today’s episode will be highlighting a traditional Pakistani wedding, the celebrations and the food!
Weddings across Pakistan are not all the same. Weddings in Karachi compared to rural Balochistan are very different. Weddings in Lahore compared to rural Hunza Nagar are not alike. We drove DEEP into the mountains to reach a village called Gulmit. When we arrived, the celebrations had begun and the cooking was in full swing. The village men were making “Bhutt” in MASSIVE quantities, and over wood fire. It’s made of flour and aged butter and requires a lot of physical labour to stir the ingredients into a thick paste. Along with the Bhutt, they had slaughtered one of the village’s yaks and boiled the meat. This was to serve all 300+ guests!
We went into the home of the groom’s family, to enjoy chai and meet the couple’s family. Everyone was extremely welcoming to us even though they didn’t know who we were! It was finally time for the bride and groom to arrive and start the dancing! Traditional music, dancing and singing started throughout the entire village. The bride and groom were dressed in beautiful, traditional Pakistani clothing and watched the celebrations. The dancing lasted over 1 hour!!!
Then all of the guests went into the family home and began eating. We were served the Bhutt, which was very strong in flavour (from the aged butter) and quite gooey. The yak meat was simply boiled, without spices. This reflects the lifestyle of this rural mountain village. Food is simple yet hearty, especially in the winter months.
We felt very honoured to have had the opportunity to experience such an incredible celebration and would like to extend our thank you to the family for inviting us and allowing us to take part in a special day!
Thank you so much for tuning into another episode of our PAKISTANI STREET FOOD series, and we hope you enjoyed the views, food and people of Pakistan in this video! We would like to thank Shehroze (from Manaky) for making this video possible. Stay tuned for next week’s episode where we visit a rural village and experience a Pakistan Village Wedding!!! 🇵🇰

I am a Hunzai myself, so let me explain you the significance of the main ingredients used for cooking. The traditional cooking has four major components, butter/oil, meat, flour and milk(all the derivatives). The main reason for these to be the main course is that these were the main crops and sources of food at the time. When the bride and groom entered, they were offered bread and oil, which signifies wishes of prosperity and abundance for the couple. It is also the reason why a pinch of flour was poured on the shoulders of the couple and their family's shoulder.

Wow that looked uber scenic and picture perfect with all that cooking techniques on display certainly made my mouth water. That meat broth in big pan was awesome. Also buckwheat and cheese chapati was looking delicious.
Nice wedding ceremony and the way you covered the whole festivity was certainly eye-catching.

They shouldnt techinically even belong to Pakistan. Rest of Pakistan is hell for non muslims and women. Just what happend to that poor Sri lankan guy, how they burned him alive, or to the five women 2 days ago, who were stripped in public and flogged. @@Deira854 No one cares for the opinion of an indian. The whole of pakistan are various provinces combined together with beautiful cultures of sindh, punjab, kp, gilgit, kashmir(pahari), balochistan and various other. The srilankan incident is one of a kind in many years. But it is usual in india and hindu extremists do it everyday. Daily news is incoming and no action is even taken. We arrested all the attackers in a day and will hang them all. Also will provide lifetime of finance to his family
