  • Australian Human Rights Commission President Professor Gillian Triggs has marked the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta by delivering the ANU Freilich Foundation's 10th Alice Tay Lecture in Law and Human rights.
An international law specialist, Professor Triggs gave a potted history of Magna Carta and explained why it remains a vital part of Australia's legal heritage.
She used her speech at the Museum of Australian Democracy to express concerns that the supremacy of law over the actions of the executive were under threat in Australia.
