This is my favorite of their songs. I love the lyric "You wrote me a note, the pages were blank. I should have known: Invisible Ink." GENIUS! And his voice! Wow! It's so pure.
Music, when combined with a pleasurable idea, is poetry. Music without the idea, is simply music. Without music or an intriguing idea, color becomes pallor, man becomes carcass, home becomes catacomb. And the dead are but for a moment, motionless. The dodos are true musicians, whose music always takes me on an adventure with every song.
my cousin got to see them for a free concert then jam with then on stage... i wish i had gone! i've loved their music since they got their cd months ago!
same i was on itunes and i love going to listner's also bought stuff and i was in deep and when i found them i could barely get they're music off acquisition.
After that wonderful intro and then this song, I was immediately hooked on The Dodos. Their album flows perfectly, and is a solid listen to on repeat. Such a great voice.
On most steel stringed guitars the first two strings (when going high to low) are silver in color, and a lot of times end up turning almost black with use. with the dark color of the fret board they usually become hard to see. On nylon stringed guitars the first two strings are clear.
@redryderbbguy wow dude theres really great music out there man i dunno how u came to dodos but keep following those instincts youll find music like animal collective fleet foxes ryan adams high places atlas sound bon iver grizzly bear el gincho etc etc... in a blink of an eye youll say: who is BEP??? cold ... what???
Hey Thanks.. I'll do that..the Fleet Foxes are another new band I like a lot, from what I've heard..( MOJO mag just gave 'em Five Stars in the lead review) Great vocals, plus some acoustic instruments too. Also BON IVER.. his new one is really good..Happy listening!!
YIKES.. Mind- blowing how much music 3 guys can make with such elemental instrumentation.. + ..Gotta love any band that can bring in a Toy Piano! and the guys voice is too cool. How is the Album ?? Is it THIS good?
hi.. just got the album.. it's pretty good.. kinda wild in spots.. I'll have to give a few more spins to really form an opinion.. funny thing is, on the CD, it's basically 2 guys. ALSO recently acquired: New FLEET FOXES... GREAT harmony singing.. Exxcellent writing as well.. and sounds uncannily as if it could have been recorded in 1968!!
The piano was most definitely a unique and genius touch! I haven't heard the entire album but I have downloaded a few tracks like winter, fools and undeclared and those a pretty freakin sweet. So the rest should be spiffy. Make it a point to check the entire record out and then you can tell me what you think.
You guys should listen to The Season. It's freaking awesome. The whole album is great, anyway, I'm addicted. ;) And yeah, Fleet Foxes are great indeed.
Hm...Fleet Foxes. Never heard of them but i've been looking for something new anyhow. I'll look into them. I still haven't gotten the album yet. By the time I get to Best Buy im going to have to spend my entire life savings! Thanks for the tips, though!
No, sorry. The internet is currently void of all tabs for them sadly and I haven't had the time to figure it out lately. @lubarr - I love them too. I think I might like Beware of the Maniacs more than Visiter though.
is it about god and war? We tear off our ears/ The fire that we stoke - explosions etc. You wrote me a note The pages were blank And I, I should have known Invisible ink ---invisible ink...unanswered prays?...but i dont get this: The color was red The number was six...or is it realy about a love in war...
C. Thomas howell on drums! but in all seriousness If someone gave me onemilliondollars and i had a choice to keep it for myself orhave another cd as great as visiter, i'd pay for the cd.
If you have a nylon string guitar putting steel strings could quite possibly snap your guitar in half while your tuning it. Not to mention going from nylon to steel would probably kill your fingers.
This is my favorite of their songs. I love the lyric "You wrote me a note, the pages were blank. I should have known: Invisible Ink." GENIUS!
And his voice! Wow! It's so pure.
the dodos are my favorite artists of 2008
they are original and one of a kind there sound is more then 2

Visiter is just way too amazing, whenever I listen to it it's like the first time: I can't help falling in love with it.
This is my favorite song by them. (:
I love the percussion in this banf.
i had that same silly wiggling and tapping with both feet with FOOLS. just crazy good this band!!!
he's an incredible lyricist
same i was on itunes and i love going to listner's also bought stuff and i was in deep and when i found them i could barely get they're music off acquisition.
I like the chords they use, a little bit of cacophony :-) And the clapping! The beat is SO good!
BEautiful song !

After that wonderful intro and then this song, I was immediately hooked on The Dodos. Their album flows perfectly, and is a solid listen to on repeat. Such a great voice.

Whoa!
What can I say but thank you, thank you, thank you...
Oh... I love this song.
Merik and Logan are true inspirations...and so young. I think that's very impressive for musicians in their prime.
I could not agree more, same happened to me. Fine music.
Indeed man.. they great aren't they
wow, wow!! SOOOO AMAZING!!!
10 people dislike this????????? how could this be? this is like gods music when he goes out and longboard!
this f**king amazing.
Go for it.
@redryderbbguy You can't expect everyone to have good taste in music.. but I'm happy to see that 356 do!
WAAHHEAKJEHAAAEEGGHHHH!!! so much talent in one confined place! gah
@redryderbbguy wow dude theres really great music out there man i dunno how u came to dodos but keep following those instincts youll find music like animal collective fleet foxes ryan adams high places atlas sound bon iver grizzly bear el gincho etc etc... in a blink of an eye youll say: who is BEP??? cold ... what???

Come and join us in the trenches, red and purple by our side...
I've never sat down and tried to figure it out, but I can tell its in A not that thats a huge help. If I ever find a tab/learn it I'll send it to you.
The drummer is mad good.
oh yeah.
YIKES.. Mind- blowing how much music 3 guys
can make with such elemental instrumentation..
+ ..Gotta love any band that can bring in a Toy Piano! and the guys voice is too cool. How is the Album ?? Is it THIS good?
He is in some of their most recent press photos too.
word
many chords are being played on that guitar
@DefecationSociety that sir, is a jaymar toy piano.
That's kinda cool, I had no idea that they went on NPR.
have you not seen them live? they always have a third guy for some of the songs
FUCKING BRILLANT
hi.. just got the album.. it's pretty good.. kinda wild in spots.. I'll have to give a few more spins to really form an opinion.. funny thing is, on the CD, it's basically 2 guys.
ALSO recently acquired: New FLEET FOXES... GREAT harmony singing.. Exxcellent writing as
well.. and sounds uncannily as if it could have been recorded in 1968!!
@LNxHC Actually, Logan Kroeber is the drummer o_O but i do agree.
These guys are amazing. Does anybody know what that keyboard instrument is?
No. I really like it. It's really slick. Why, does eveyone else think it sucks? lol
agreed
I think hes playing an Olympia. You can see it in another "red and purple" youtube vid where hes playing in an elevator.
@DefecationSociety your very welcome! no problem!
See if adding &fmt=18 to the end of the url does anything.

well said. i think it suits the song how the drums sound, its not that different from the recorded version
You guys should listen to The Season. It's freaking awesome. The whole album is great, anyway, I'm addicted. ;)

Its an Olympia OD3 i believe.
@TheBoss2332 or an outback commercial... thanks Of Montreal.
@TheMangoqueen C. thomas howell is ponyboy from the outsiders, look him up., looks just fuckin like him
I think they were trying to perform an acoustic session of some sort... you can't have the drums be louder than everything else
@bbrriiaann9922 another band also has three people, Muse~ :D
its folk music
when they get the new guy???
@LNxHC why not just use 15 dollars of that million to buy the CD?
@terrinm how could we? =)
@MistsOfAvalon haha, yup.
the mic'ing on this IS sort of stupid, but it makes me realize what a nice voice this guy really has even without the crazy production
please don't get mad at me for this comment but when i see the title i think to myself "black and yellow..."
But Toy Pianos make everything better! I also think I might prefer the album cut, but its cool that this version shows how awesome they are live.
really? Have you listened to the self titled album? It's a downright masterpiece. I put it right up there with Visiter and The Moon and Antarctica...
0:45 that dude is pretty cute.
@TheBoss2332
if bands didn't make music and try to make money at the same time, you probably wouldn't hear them
@crvetteguy More fans = more cash, more chash = less motivation to make GOOD new songs and albums.
No, sorry. The internet is currently void of all tabs for them sadly and I haven't had the time to figure it out lately.
@lubarr - I love them too. I think I might like Beware of the Maniacs more than Visiter though.
I KNOW THAT IM YOURS AND YU WILL BE MINE
I've always thought the singer looks uncannily like Joseph-Gordon Levitt.
@DescensusFacilis ha, nice:D
David Byrne has had a lot of kids. This one's all right.
I'm pretty sure that is just a Jaymar toy piano.
@theK0OKS im guessing you have a similar taste ;)
is it about god and war? We tear off our ears/
The fire that we stoke - explosions etc. You wrote me a note
The pages were blank
And I, I should have known
Invisible ink
---invisible ink...unanswered prays?...but i dont get this: The color was red
The number was six...or is it realy about a love in war...
what acoustic guitar is he using?
C. Thomas howell on drums!
but in all seriousness
If someone gave me onemilliondollars and i had a choice to keep it for myself orhave another cd as great as visiter, i'd pay for the cd.

X-treme toy piano skittles
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
@damoleburrowed what do you mean? Muse isnt as good as theese guys or other way around?
