Thank you for making such a beautiful piece with my brushes! Truly love the results~ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶
As a black girl, for me summer styles would be protective styles! So like box braids, mini twists, locs. Theres so many protextive styles, so i would say just research and consider what your character would like. For me I don't like hairstyles that braid back, like fulani braids. I like having hair and bangs in my face lol
Watching your art inspires me mostly because of how you shade hair and how much detail you put into your art
Hey! As a black girl, the research you’ve done to understand our hair more means a lot! You’re doing a great job 💘 keep up the great work!! ☺️💗
I think it'd be really cool if you and Likelihood Art did a collab or art exchange ❤ I think your styles are complimentary, and you're two of my favorite artists who draw a wide variety of subjects (so I feel that I learn a lot and it encourages me to draw diversely)
i would love that.. she inspired me to draw with me's. but i'm too scared to approach ;;
@@ayeoops omg i am begging you to do that :0
I agree!! It would be a dreeeaam
@@ayeoopsYou really should Likeli is quite chill🫡
You were right, the sections of the hair (the boxes) do get bigger as the thickness of that box braid gets bigger! Also for the hair in the heat thing, I have been twisting my hair for that. Sometimes I'll twist with just my natural hair and other times I'll twists with weave. For other suggestions of protective styles, there's jumbo braids and goddess locs. This came out beautiful btw, I love how you rendered the braids. 💌
let me throw cornrows and straight back braid styles, that’s what i’ve opted for this summer and i’m loving it.
not to mention you can so fun styles inside the scalp of the braids
i have 3c / 4a hair, and in the past i've done box braids, gotten an undercut (i have a LOT of hair jdfhg) and twists. i would say something that's often overlooked is that a black character's hair can say a lot about them and the setting they're in !! someone already mentioned thinking of how they might accessorize, but for example : box braids / two strand twists are super common and can be easily done at home depending on the person's skill and experience, while fancier twists / crochet braids / faux locs / etc are often done by someone else or with help. (i def do the latter personally bc i do NOT have the arm strength orz) regular locs are more of a permanent / long term style choice and take time to develop ! braids and twists can be worn down or up in a simple pony tail, styled into different updos, even cut into another style (when I got sick of having really long box braids i just cropped them into a bob LOL) there's a lot of room for creativity :> i'd suggest looking up protective styles on pinterest for some inspo!
this is super helpful thank u! i struggle to find the keywords to look up so thank u for all the terminology
watching your series "draw with me" brings me so much comfort and happiness
You are starting to bring so much motivation back into my life , as a black girl I love seeing your work , it’s so diverse and I haven’t drawn in so long and I’ve been watching your videos for days to get back into my art and it’s helping 💜you did amazing on this
Hi Young black girl here! when it comes to summer styles for my black hair typical I get protective styles or just braid/twist my natural hair, when it comes to twist sometimes it'll just be my natural hair and other times it'll be with weave. Regarding protective styles I typical just get box braids or two strand twist, the style I'm doing this summer tho is jumbo braids! Oh and a quick tidbit of something you should try to keep in mind regarding your black characters is how they would style it or braid it, stuff like would they add or put charms and beads in their hair or if they'd add color when getting protective styles stuff like that ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა
oohh i think zabella would definitely be the type of person to accessorize a lot
i absolutely love that you used the braids as a template for your own lineart. it's so cohesive and I love this so much!
For summer hairstyles for black women (or those with lots and long hair) that's usually a time when it's in a protected hairstyles, updos, or just cutting most of it off for it to grow back during the winter. Long hair is harder to maintain in hotter weather, it can irritate the skin causing red marks on your back (especially for lighter skin types), or just cause someone to stop taking care of it in general due to high maintenance it can be.
I'm mostly saying this from personal experiences and others around me, because I hate hair touching me when it's hot asf lol so I just end up cutting it to shoulder length then it'll grow back during the winter, but everyone is different.
I love to draw while watching your videos, you're like my drawing partner ❤️❤️
I love Vegalia's brushes! I usually always use the outline braid brush, but I think I want to try how you did them! 💗
hope it turns out well!
I like how you make dark skin people actually look vibrant and not like ashy-brown colors.
Watched this while I worked on some Art Fight Attacks 🤝 I loved how her hair turned out by the way 💖💖💖 I LOVE blue hair!!!😊
We use many different parting patterns. Brick and triangle are my favorite. And yes the part to braid ratio is important.
This looks so cool! I LOVE the way you drew the blue braids 😍😍
Love watching your process, and the brushes look amazing but i really love the way you made the brushes work with your style.
I'm so glad I bought these brushes. I got braid brushes and the curl brushes. Best purchase ever. ❤
Vegalia has a parting stamp for hair as well ! Your research is doing you very well and it means so much ! For heat I do many things. Some time I’ll cut it low or I’ll braid it up in box braids. I have thick hair and my scalp be HAWT ! I
Big space out parts usually mean thin hair and most of the time when people have thick hair on their head the scalp is lighter than their skin color so it’s not the same color. The only reason the scalp would be the same or close to their skin color is if they wear a lot of hair styles with parting and is outside letting the sun hit their scalp often.
oohh i forgot about this detail, ty for reminding!
LOVE GETTING THESE NOTIFICATIONS FOR U 😭‼️‼️💗💗
Hiii, I really love the process of your art ❤
you talking about your characters and why you made them made me actually start bawling like a baby. that sentiment is so relatable to me.
Your art is so beautiful! Also, your video just saved me! I was in desperate need for some good braid and curl brushes because otherwise it takes too long and there’s no time to spare in this industry! Thank you!!! 🖤
I love your art and your college comments are honestly so relatable. I’m at school in California right now trying to take some art classes. And yeah prerequisites can get so irritating. It’s a lot of pointless stuff you’d just learn in the class. I think they’re just looking for one level of skill tbh.
I have braids and yes it maters how long the braid is to how big the box is
I felt that so much when it comes to separating money and art ! Have to find a balance because I don’t want money to kill my passion.
Early!! Love the video so far, love ur content!
Nice video, Love it so far!!!
I just love the way u drawing mostly watch it because of the way u make ur vid. It shows the display tablet drawing and ur hand. Plus it real nice to draw with u that why I can't fir a display tablet love the drawing😊
Your art is amazing!
I understood what you mean about wanting to drawing characters. As a person who's super into character designing, constantly drawing different designs / writing stories with the hope to one day publish several comic or graphic novels. It can be really overwhelming when thinking about what to do with them. What might help (or at least what helps for me) is to not force it and just let the ideas come to you. That way you're not putting so much pressure on yourself
Lol I personally have an undercut, so that’s how I keep myself cool. Plus when I put my hair up, it’s a little edge to my look.
Depending on what size of box braids or twist I get the box size dose matter and most of the boxes are bigger in the back of the head than the front and to answer your question about how to wear black hair in the summer we just do different protective hairstyles like Locs, Braids, twists, afro, puffs ,etc.
ohh i didn't know that the ones in the back tend to be bigger, thank you!
So happy I’m early
Your art is beautiful
9:57 well usually I would have it in box braids or braids in general compared to my real hair since i have alot of it tho I'm still hot either way but the braids are more barrable but that's just me there could be a better way i havent tried out 🤷🏾♀️
good to know! thank u 🙏
Oooo
"2 minutes ago" Im early, and i need to sleep. its 1am
I think you should check out 1a-4c hair types
what shortcut key do you use to flip the drawing from one side to the other?
i use H but i changed it to that, mot sure what default is
EARLY i haven't even watched the video yet but first
i have an ipad and apple pencil, would clip studio paint still be this level of quality on it?
I think so but instead of the desktop/PC version you be using thr tablet version but the set up look wise is the same
What brushes do you use?
hey do you like DrawingWiffWaffles by chance? I feel like theres some similarities in your art styles^^ /genq
Frankly as someone who is almost clear in terms of pale I don't even fully know how caucasian skin is drawn lol!
Edit: For me, as I usually draw my things no matter how detailed in 2-4 days depending on if theres a bg or not, it really doesn't matter to use a fancy brush. Especially as I think old school, if you can't do it yourself without using extra tools then you can't replicate it well (Key word being about the replication). Besides my program doesn't have fancy special brushes on my tablet, autodesk sketchbook. However the idea of saving your hands is very much an important step lol, thanks for the consideration!
