Not only that, Oda himself has used money from his funds to help Japan during crisis, meaning One Piece literally helped some people and cities personally, it's influence is beyond what any other artpiece today.

Reze arc being a movie makes perfect sense in terms of length. Also now we 100% know Season 2 (if it comes out which it will) will end with the end of Part 1... this will be insane

I always knew that the Bomb Girl Arc was going to be made into a movie. I don’t care that I’ll have to wait like 2 to 3 years for season 2 of Chainsaw Man to come out. As long as I get to see Reze animated, that’s fine by me. And besides, The Bomb Girl Arc was always going to be the perfect candidate for a movie not just because of the explosions and actions, it’s actually a love story between Denji and Reze. This is going to be just as heartbreaking as the Titanic, Edward Scissorhands, Gladiator, Braveheart, Wolf Children and Silent Voice.
And as for Code Geass season 3, will it be after the Resurrection of Lelouch or after R2, where Shirley was killed off?

@@vineethk133AOT at WIT consistently has amazing action animation. it’s never had fantastic animation outside of fights, it’s just your average looking talking scenes, but those action sequences are so frequent to make the show be classified as fantastically animated.
The Reze arc being a movie instead of being part of the Season 2 is a very good idea, and also goes for the reanimated One Piece but from Wit Studios? I've been a big fan of Wit for a while now because of their insane fluid animations and I cannot wait to see what they'll do for One Piece.
Regarding the whole AI complaint, according to the announcement they say that this remake will "utilize cutting-edge visual technology" and some interpreted it using AI, which might not be true and could be a fancy way of saying that'll be adapted in modern animation but that's only my opinion, hope you find this useful.
It's mainly because Wit studio used AI to generate background art in the past, so people are theorizing they're going to take it further. Personally I hope they don't do that
To add some more context, the background art was based off of concept art and then generated off of that. So it wasn't that they were just writing a prompt and shitting some stuff out, there was a creative process involved, but the ethics of AI artwork are still very muddy so people are concerned

@@strongb502Have you watched S1,2,3 of Attack on Titan (,Shingeki no Kyoujin-),S1 of Vinland Saga,S1 of Ancient Magus' Bride,Spy x Family, Ranking of Kings ( Ousama Ranking), it will be gorgeous by people passionate about the medium, unlike Toei Animation,which is a shell of it's former self ( Cyborg;009,Cashern :Sins, Go Nagai's Devilman,Go Nagai's Cutie Honey,etc.), they barely make anime anymore except for Dragon Ball and One Piece, as the parent company Toei, uses most of it's budget on Tokusatsu ( Kamen Rider,Super Sentai {Americanized as Power Rangers}, Metal Heroes {VR Troopers}, B-Fighterz {Big Bad Beetle Borgs}, Space Sheriff,Garo,etc.).
I would not be surprised, if shortly after the One Piece Anime wraps up with potential movies, sequel/prequels/side stories, that Toei completely shuts down their Animation department.

I'm more so hoping that at the end of part 4 we get an announcement for a CFYOW anime adaptation

@@matias1278 One Piece is a good adaptation. At least I think its good in the beginning as of right now (episode 150). I know the pacing gets pretty bad later on.

The reason to remake One Piece isn’t even 100% about money,it’s probably also about fixing the godawful slowpoke almost standing still pacing. That alone might finally make me want to give it a shot

When i first watched the series Im not complaining about the animation from east blue saga-arabasta bcs it was aired in 1999-early 2000 so its understandable. the one piece announcement feels weird but is also excitin. Fujimoto apparently stated that Jin-Roh(Wolf brigade) was an inspiration for Denji/Reze in this arc. I'm also excited for the new director since this is only a teaser.

Never thought I'd see the day Code Geass gets another season. It's most likely a cash grab, but I might check it out. Hope they bring back all the English VA's. I usually watch anime in Japanese, but the English dub of Lelouch of the Rebellion is too good.

BTW, on the Geass subject: back when they announced (now shut-down) Genesic Re:Code in Fall of 2022, the interview said it was part of a "Next 10 Years Project" for the story after Lelouch of the Ressurection. Good we finally have a more definite timetable.
They mentioned the "Z of the Reclamation" title back then also.
One thing I'm wondering about the new One Piece anime is whether or not the voice actors will be the same. Would all the voice actors be willing to play their characters in the current anime and the remake at the same time or will they get new actors instead? Also, I've been waiting for the Illuminati Arc from Blue Exorcist to get animated for so long, I started thinking we weren't going to get it (at least not anytime soon). Chainsaw Man's Bomb Girl Arc is definitely one the top of my watch list too. I also plan on reading Bleach sometime next year, and I'd like to watch the TYBW anime after I'm done. Next year's gonna be great.

I stopped following OP many years ago, but still retain appreciation for Oda’s greatest work. It’s got nothing but nostalgia in my heart from 2005 my early high school days. I would LOVE to see an updated Baratie, Alabasta, Water 7, and Enies Lobby arcs ❤ 🤩
Besides the modern and improved Wit Studio animation, no filler, and improved sound design. The pacing will be the #1 most important update for this new anime. Right NOW, as of December 17, 2023, we are deep into the Egghead Island Arc in the Manga with 1,102 Chapters total. If this new anime remake, The One Piece fully adapts the manga faithfully and does it at the standard 2-3 Chapters per episode that most other anime typically do. Then we can easily estimate how many episodes it would take to reach the current manga of Egghead. If 2 chapters are adapted per episode it would be 1102/2 = 551 episodes. If it adapts 3 chapters per episode it would be 1102/3 = 367 episodes. And on average if it adapts 2.5 chapters per episode (typical 2-3 chapters), 1102/ 2.5 = 440 episodes. This all means that from episode 1 in the East Blue saga all the way through to current Egghead arc it would take either 367 episodes, 440 episodes or at the very most 551 episodes. For further context episode 367 in the current original anime was at the Thriller Bark arc, episode 440 is at the Impel Down arc, and episode 551 is at the Fishman Island arc. This means that all of the sagas/ arcs: Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village, Baratie, Arlong Park, Logue Town, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, Drum Island, Alabasta, Jaya, Skypiea, Long Ring Long Land, Water 7, Enies Lobby, Post Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark, Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, Straw Hats Separation, Impel Down, Marineford, Post War, Return to Sabaody, Fishman Island, Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Zou, Whole Cake Island, Reverie, Wano Country, and Egghead Island will ALL be covered and done in UNDER 551 episodes. That is incredible. Just wanted to really bring home how amazing this series could potentially be
it would probably be even quicker too!! since most manga alternate between a 2-4 chapter an episode basis, not just 2-3. obviously most episodes wouldn’t be doing 4 chapters, but it would be a thing! so if this remake is a thing i would 100% expect it to be only about 350 episodes long

Judging by the artstyle of the preview image, I wonder if they're gonna give it a hand-drawn pastelish feeling like the color pages or the original Sugimori Pokemon art. Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash is another example of a show given a distinct artstyle like that, with its water color look.
I've always believed that One Piece would be the best (long) anime of all time if it was seasonal.
Even if we're getting only the East Blue saga, I can't wait.

Its only going to cover the early stuff in East blue, its still going to be a living hell to go through the rest + it leaves the dilemma if someone should watch the remake, the original One piece or the fan edit "One pace". The new remake will most likely miss out on some important stuff, especially if Oda is not the supervisor for this.

one piece adapats 1.5 chapters an episode in east blue, and later on it gets to 0.5 to 1 chapter an episode. most anime do 2-4 chapters an episode, so even when one piece is at its fastest, it’s still slow than your typical anime.
they would be able to cut stuff out and save time by getting rid of the times Toei just lingers on singular actions for minutes at a time, or will extend reactions or running sequences or crowd pans etc for minutes at a time.
@@WieldMyWordWell , without the fillers and pacing issues of the Toei version, this new anime can catch up to egghead in about 500+ episodes ( almost half the time of the Toei ver .), but at the same time lose out G8 and the anime version of Dr. Hiruluk ( one of the only times, the anime was far superior to the manga).

What a time to be alive
The upgraded visuals for a One Piece remake are good, but the real opportunity here is to fix the pacing. Its no secret that Toei's practices artificially prolonge One Piece so they can maintain a weekly release cycle. By removing most of the non-canon episodes, and actually addapting an appropriate amount of managa chapters per episode, One Piece can literally shave off 100s of episodes while making the pace of every individual episode feel much better. Im very excited for this.

Considering the influx of new fans from the live action, a remake of the anime with better pacing is certainly a good call from Oda, Shueisha, and Netflix. Plus, Toei is still part of the production team. They're not saying no to more money, lol.
Wit studio has done a project with AI in the past that was experimental. They recently released a message saying they will use cutting edge technology to animate one piece so some people assume they meant AI because of their history with it

I don't see any reason why they have to remake OP, but I'm glad Wit Studio handles it. I hope it cuts all the fillers and make each arc into a 12- or 24- episode show.

Golden Era of anime
I don't even watch One Piece but I find the news of a remake exciting. Mainly becauss I don't have time to watch over 1000 episodes unfortunately. But a remake from Wit Studios who have given us insane shows like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Vivy, Ranking of Kings, Spy x Family (although it was a collab with another studio but still) and several other great ones sounds pretty good in my opinion. And boy, 2024 sounds stacked like 2023 ngl.
Modern look is definitely a factor here, but what i think is more important is that the one piece anime went toe to toe with the manga since forever already, hence the unbearably slow pace and filler arcs. A remake resolves both problems and does justice to the original manga, probably reintroducing the series to people who previously didnt like it or didnt want to watch because of said problems
I've been saying that they need to do a "one piece kai" for awhile. They really need to fix the pacing and remove the filler to make the anime more watchable.
Let's just image this remake as being a perfect retelling of the manga, with updated art and no filler and no recaps.
It would probably shorten the existing anime to about 400-500 ep instead of what we have now, and I'm all here for it!

the op announcement just solidifies oda an his team intentions. When the live action aired, or before it aired, oda released a ltter stating that he wants to make one piece global. Then the live action came, and it was succesful, and theres already a s2 confirmed. And now this announcement, it just shows they are really trying to make one piece even more popular. This is obviously trying to attract new viewers, with modern animation, and also with a better pacing. This new anime is most likely to not be weekly, and its going to be considerably less than a 1000 eps. They want to reach newer fans, and younger generations. This is nothing but a massive W. What i find funny is how netflix realized op is gold mine and they are pumping every piece they can from it.
Its obviously milking the show as Netflix is behind it, its only going to remake the early parts of One piece which is arguably the fastest paced story compared to the stuff later. So this is not going to make the show better, but rather put people in a dilemma between watching the original/one pace or the remake(s).

As someone who has recently started one piece and is 200 episodes in, I think the remake is needed. I haven't had an issue with the animation but the turtle slow pacing and god awful dbz ripoff sound effects have made it a struggle to continue. Hoping the remake fixes these issues

John Wick 5 is kinda confirmed but it’s also kinda not, it’s very up in the air if it will even exist, so it’s definitely not a 2024 thing, the most you’ll get is the Ballerina spin off movie.

@@myfathersjawline yeah OPLA won’t be next year lol. what made you think it would be i’m so curious? Love Action shows with budgets that big take time.
remember the actors and writers strike only ended last month, so they couldn’t writer the show or cast anyone in it until the strike was over. it will take a few months to write so that will probs be done early next year, then shooting games about 9-12 months, so expect it to come out mid to late 2025 after CGi is complete. OPLA will probably come out every 1.5-2 years after this, now the strike is over.
