      This was a BIG deal - I think Queen was the first ROCK group to play there. Very endearing when he sings a Magyar folk tune in Hungarian (with a little help from the written words on his hand ). No wonder then that he and Queen stole their hearts and are still remembered for it.

    Hi David. Alaine your Alien Australian friend here. I recall an early interview with Brian commenting about Freddie's on stage mastery... he said that he would often catch himself becoming totally inthralled mid concert with dear Freddie's God like presence and talent, thinking to himself......'Who the Hell are You?' Merry Christmas David, hope to catch you Christmas Eve.

    John is absolutely amazing on the bass and you need headphones to pinpoint it honestly. And Roger Taylor! He is usually on the list of top drummers but not towards the top and IMO he should be. As you said, he is so soft but when he needs to he goes in hard and yet so precise. And while he sings too. For a drummer that is a whole lot going on, feet, hands and mouth….the ultimate multitasker. Hard job and yet he is spot on every single time! ❤️

    It was a 4 year long procedure with the Hungarian authorities until the Queen could stand on stage in Budapest on 27.07.1986. It was obvious, that the Hungarians couldn't pay the usual fee of the band and the finally paid amount is a secret until these days. In order to reduce the costs the Hungarians and the band's managment agreed in filming the concert and the film was titled as the Hungarian Rhapsody in which you could get some more information how the band spent these few days in the Hungarian capital, behind the iron curtain.

Love Brian's solo also - every solo he does is perfect for each song - there is nothing you could change to make it better. By this time Freddie was having throat issues. So, Roger would take some of the high vocals to help Freddie save his voice. They had been doing 2 1/2-hour concerts for years by now.

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic Před 2 lety +6

      Freddie did not have throat issues at this concert. Wembley had some issues because he was sick. This concert was only two weeks after Wembley. Roger did a lot of harmony, and Queen has a lot of high harmonies. In some songs such as Under Pressure, it was to low for Roger, Freddie often had to low harmonies because he was the best on the low notes.

      @@ZENOBlAmusic In February of 1975, Freddie was diagnosed with vocal nodules. This would drastically affect his singing for the rest of his career. Freddie could have chosen to get them removed via surgery but opted out in fear of ruining his voice.

    So sad to think that less than 2 weeks after this show in Budapest Freddie played his last concert with Queen at Knebworth Park, where they played to a sold out crowd of 200,000 people. After they walked off stage he turned to his band mates and said "I can't do this anymore". I absolutely love your reactions! I get so fed up of reactors who talk about "Freddie Mercury and Queen" or just Freddie as if the rest of the band are just a backing group 🤬 Freddie was undoubtedly the best frontman and vocalist ever, but Queen was always greater than the sum of its parts. You acknowledge the whole group, their individual contributions, their musicianship and their tightness as a unit. That's why you're my fave reactor ❤

    Nice to see a video from you. Looking forward to your Christmas one. Not sure if you know but Brian is recovering from Covid. Poor guy. Did everything he was suppose to do and more but it still got him and his wife.

    Would love to hear your reaction to track called "Bijou" from Queen album Innuendo with flamenco guitar played by Steve Howe of Yes. Freddie pulled the stops out for this album as knew he would be too ill to carry on.

    In the studioversion John plays a double bass - and Roger makes the rhythm beats - have you seen that version - it is something else. It is the version with full orchestra and choir - perhaps you haven't seen it?? By the way - good that you give praise to Brian as he wrote the song for the film - in ten minutes - after seeing a clip from the film. - They ended up making most of the soundtrack.
