I thought it was nonsense! Thanks for clarifying! It only works if you have a very small pool, i.e. an above ground pool.
It works for me. Dumping a bunch of chlorine is gonna get you in trouble too. These sponges work wonders in most situations.
A piece of copper might work
I worked for me.. every year it works...
This was never ever going to work but thank you for proving it.
Bro you put one magic eraser on a big ass pool lol
I also tried it with 6 and got the same result. Thank you for watching
I tried saying that to also said her filter system was different hers is a basket that has a tube vacuuming out the algae and there's another video of a guy with the same pool he said his was just foggy.
Here are my thoughts: every pool I have seen this "hack" work on are above ground pools with one skimmer and no main (bottom) drain. This inground pool has at least two skimmers and a bottom intake. I believe you need to turn off the main drain and put the Mr. Clean magic erasers in both skimmer baskets to insure that the only water going to the pump is pulled through a Magic Eraser.
I thought that too that's why the second time I did it I put 6 erasers in the return at the pump where all incoming water goes before entering the actual filter, and I left them for 72 hours and I still got the same result. Thanks for watching and commenting and #StaySafe
The lady on the news had a small above ground pool and she just put it in the skimmer over night. You are gonna need a lot more
I think she had an above ground pool but didn’t specify
the original hack was for a slightly cloudy pool not a green pool
The more current versions are people trying it with a cloudy pool, the original back from like 8 years ago, the old lady had a swamp green pool. So I tried it her way once with only 1 eraser and then again with 6 erasers figuring it didn't work because my pool is bigger than hers, but 6 didn't work either. I also put erasers in the skimmer and the return and the only thing that worked was the usual shock & flock method. Thanks for commenting and #StaySafe
Food coloring.
I love how excited he sounds lol
😂😂
I tried it. It cleared mine up within 36 hours
This is such a tradicional Pool design
I have used Mr. Clean for 2 years.. It always works for me..
What you missed was that in the 24 hours of you got to keep cleaning the Mr. Clean easer sponge. Also i use 2 or 3 sponges
Hey I want to try it but here at walmart thier are like 5 different types of mr clean magic eraser, I have the bathroom soap scum, should I get a different type?
I actually tried it again right after I did this video except with 6 erasers and I got the same result. They were all still white in the end too. Not even a little dirty. My Aunt tried it on her above ground pool with 2 erasers and it didn't work for her either. It just doesn't work. The only way I'd believe that this hack works would be to put two 24 hours cameras on it, one on the eraser and one on the whole pool, and time lapse the videos showing the pool water getting clear without any other interference. If it actually worked for me I'd do all of that just to prove it.
@@KNESBEY my pool is a small above ground 13×36 I put 4 erasers and 1 chlorine table and I woke up this morning to a clean pool, but I did hope in last and manually wiped the bottom of the pool with an eraser
@@pidogarcia6356 The point of my video was to do it the same way as the original person. She only put in an eraser and ran the pool on high for 24 hours. I did that and it was still green. I figured that my pool is bigger so I put in 6 erasers and tried again and if it worked, I'd make another video. I ended up with the same result. I could have put chlorine tabs in the pool too, but that's not what the original person did. When you did it with an added chlorine tab, I thought back to me asking my aunt to also try it on her small above ground pool which wasn't even as green as mine was and it didn't work for her either. So like you, the original person had to have added something else. Thank you for watching and commenting.
The question is did he use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers or some other brand? I'm going to try this tonight with mr clean brand.
Doesn't work with a huge pool. I'd imagine probably because you're pool is far bigger
I tried the magic eraser in a few different scenarios. And with multiple erasers. It will help with a cloudy pool but green algae seems to grow to to fast.i use banish, shock, Chlorine
What if I dont have a skimmer basket
You would need some type of skimmer to hold the eraser and keep it from getting sucked into pipes which would most likely clog it. They're fairly inexpensive. You can get one at any pool store, Walmart or on Amazon for a couple bucks. I hope that helped. Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
I think you have to lay the eraser flat so the water gets pulled through it rather than straight up an down. An for such a large pool 2-3 on high as well as ur normal chlorine tabs should help. Def still going to try this next season
I also tried it with 6 which filled the skimmer basket. There's no way that water didn't flow through all of the erasers. I still got the same result. The person had to have done something else than just put in an eraser. Thank you for watching and commenting
I'm sorry it didn't work thanks so much for your insight on this hack!
Pssst!!...Copper sulfate bro.. cheap as dirt. Don't tell anyone I told you. It's a secret...
Word... Lips are sealed 🤐 lol
Your supposed to lay it flat... so theater goes through.. unless your pool was shot anyway. Also I've only seen this on above ground pools.
It works fantastic in an above ground easy set pool with a sand filter...idk about algae bc I don't USUALLY have algae issues, but I was having a REALLY irritating problem with my pool being cloudy, couldn't find any floc drop or liquid clarifier anywhere, so threw an off brand magic eraser in the filter basket (the basket on an intex sand filter is small also, so putting it in there the water had no choice but to go through it, not around it...) DO NOT LEAVE IN MORE THAN 24 HOURS! You can hear additional strain on the motor bc it has to work harder to pull the water through the sponge, idk for a fact, but PRETTY sure the motor would burn up after more than a day, and don't do it frequently for the same reason, but I only left it in the basket overnight and the sponge was disgusting...I mean YUCK brown, didn't expect that, but the pool water was crystal clear in 12 hours in a 22'x52" easy set pool with 3000 gph sand filter. My pool is green atm, rain and high heat the last week and I was out of town, so my gallon or chlorine shock wasn't sufficient for the week like it normally is. Just put in an eraser again, I'm sure it will take MULTIPLE sponges, the basket can only hold one at a time, I don't see one getting all that, but I also put 2 bags of shock in it as well and scrubbed everything. The 2 bags of chlorine did NOTHING by itself last night...so I'm praying it's not green when I wake up...
you put it in the pump basket or in the sand filter itself?
I think there pool was green from iron not algae. I have used them in my skimmer basket to pull the iron out of our water we are on a well.
I wonder if you use several of them if that would work I actually used a few of them and made a sort of pool mop and it worked good
The answer is no because I tried it again with 6 and got the same exact result as with 1. And you could've just used your pool brush instead of the erasers and probably accomplished the same thing with getting the algae off the floor and sides. Thanks for commenting and #StaySafe
I thought the rumor was that the magic eraser worked to absorb metals like iron and copper, not algae. And that’s a big pool for 1 eraser, isn’t it?
And you have to keep the pump running
We bought a house on the market for 6 years....Swamp!!!
I can feel your pain... I've been there. Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
I dont think they said no chemicals only a magic earser works...
The lady that started this trend said if u have a bit of merkie green and you've done all your chemicals throw that it in and it's supposed to help...key word help with algae and iron to clear a brief green or merkie cloudy water!!
I used a push broom into a siphon vacuum. I broke the push broom, broke the kitchen broom, now I'm using the mop. She's pissed lol but it works.
Lol. Thanks for watching and #StaySafe
Your eyes are like stars
Thanks? And thank you for watching
I think this may work if the pool is still clear, but used as a prevention, if the sponge turns green, you know you are at the early stage of algae, then treat it with Algaecide and chlorine. The sponge itself won't keep the pool algae clear without chemical balance and treatment.
You were supposed to put the magic eraser where you put your filters
Why turn it off first..then back on?
I don't think it will work for a masive pool like that one but mabey for a smaller tube pool it will
Right, like a little above ground. I have one I'm going to try it.
Would you be so kind as to provide me with your procedure to go from green to blue? List any items I need and how to go from step to step possible. I need my new pool ready for summer and this is my first time owning a pool. Also I believe I have a pool with sand filter not like yours with the removable ones.
Buy this and follow the directions on the box. I've been using this product for over 10 years now and It never failed me once. Thanks for watching and #StaySafe

@@KNESBEY thanks I will give it a try!
Idk why I’m watching this I don’t even have a pool lol
🤣🤣🤣... Thanks for watching it though and #StaySafe
Dude please just balance ur ph and add shock and treatments necessary
And keep ur cartridges clean
Easy
Thanks for the video i knew it was a fail for the beginning when someone told me about and u proof it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
5:06 to be exact, are you military sir?
You are correct and I am retired Army... HOOAH
whats the point of turning off the filter for 2 mins? lets me guess "whatever"
Dang it inside edition!!!
nope his pool was just too dirty
i think it only works on those inflatable pools not these kinds of pools
the hack was for a smaller above ground pool
It shouldn't matter the size of your pool if you increase the amount of erasers and I tried it again with 6 erasers and got the same result. Thanks for commenting and #StaySafe
He's right it don't work. I tried this multiple times and nothing.
Same. My pool is a mess and it’s killing me. Lol did you find any solutions?
I dont think you really did this right. And do you work for a pool cleaning company
The people who make these life hacks are very very rarely any kind of professional in the field
I don't work for a pool company however I've been servicing my own and my family's pools for over 20 years. This hack is something I tried to see if actually worked and it did not. I actually tried it several times adding more erasers each time and nothing happened. I finally just put in the green to blue kit like I usually do and that cleared the water right up in a day as it always does. Thank you for watching
@@KNESBEY i believe you, don't listen to these peeps, sometimes you just can't fix what's broken
@@fizzinsoda Thank you. I appreciate that and thank you for commenting. #StaySafe
@@KNESBEY the green to blue hack lol.
Dude said he let the pool turn green just so he could test this hack 😂😂. He’s either extremely committed or full of shit, I’m guessing it’s the latter
It was the former... Thanks for commenting though and #StaySafe
Damn dude. That pool dirty as hell though. Looks swamp green to me
Lol... Yeah... My pool gets full sunlight all day so it is easy for me to let it get that way so I could try this hack. Thanks for watching
Kareem Nesbey any way to get mine clean again? desperate😭😭. not sure if i’m going to try this for me?!
I’m thinking you are supposed to put the eraser in the actual basket that is on the pump!… not the skimmer basket :D
Yeah I also did that and I used 6 erasers thinking maybe if I overkill it, maybe it'll work. Same results. Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
The lady’s pool was a small pool that you could move so maybe it needs to be smaller?
Yeah I thought the same thing that's why I did it again with a pack of 6 erasers and got the same exact result. She had to have added other chemicals to the water because there's no way it worked with the eraser alone. Thank you for commenting and stay safe
Did you think of putting more than one in? lol Your pool is large..put 4 or 5 in..save yourself money
This is HILLARIOUS 😆😆😆
You majorly need algacide and chlorine that hack is just to get it there then you maintain with chemicals.
Look it up it does work you have a bigger pool that takes four big filters that was green then pool was in the beginning of the video looks like it been green for a while anyway. Different pools use anyway to get clout
My pool was clear and I allowed the water to turn green just to do the hack. After turning green I brushed the algae off the walls and floor so the filter and the eraser had the best opportunity to work. I wanted it to work because that would've been so much easier than the normal process I go through. I followed the instructions just as the lady did in her Viral video. I even did it a second time using 6 erasers in the pool skimmer and directly in the pump skimmer just to rule out my pool being bigger and all. There's no way that hack worked without the assistance of other chemicals. Thanks for watching and #StaySafe
You just saved me another 24 waiting for my pool to open..
I'm glad I helped you out. Thank you for commenting and #StaySafe
Ok catch your breath
Lol... I was a bit winded there. Thanks for watching
Use a wole pack
I actually did try it with a whole pack of 6 and that didn't work either. Thanks for watching
You get idea what this magic eraser was just trolling from granny :D
If my pool pump runs for 24 hours it usually comes clean..
That not a filter basket it's called a skimmer the filter is where the motor is.
Thank you for letting us know this hack is Useless !
I'm glad to do it and thank you for commenting #StaySafe
You dont have to remove the on timer bud!!!!! Hello!
I saw that on inside edition and i looked to see if it was true and its not 😢
Of course it didn’t work, you only used one and you have an unground 🤦🏼♀️
You used lysol not Mr Clean sponge. I think thats where you messed up. It worked for me
I tried it again using 6 erasers compensating for the size of my pool and also ran it for 72 hours and got the same result. . Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
There is no reason for this to work. This is like saying putting mouthwash in your radiator will make you're engine cooler because it feels cool from the mint.
I thought it was if a pool is cloudy
From the grandma
You did it wrong
Maybe you needed to flip the magic eraser to the other side then put it in. 🤦🏻♂️
Its for small pools and direct water filter not that one you show man
For some reason the magic eraser hack only works with above ground pools.
So above ground pools are smaller and are typically using the same pump size. What I’ve found out through researching this is that it will work on in the ground pools but you have to use 2 magic eraser’s and then change them out half through. So 4 total. It appears that this is a labor intensive experiment, so maybe worth it maybe not.
Tried this over night. Magic eraser did absolutely nothing
Facts. Thanks for watching and commenting. #StaySafe
Dude you have to clean it and add chemicals
LMAO that's a given... Thanks for the good laugh and thank you for watching. Stay safe
For future issues. Add half a bottle of BioGuard Banish in the pool. Will be clear by morning. You will have to vacuum all the dead algae off the bottom though
Thanks, I'll have to try that. I usually use HTH green to blue and that always works. I was just hoping for a method that would save me money and time. Thanks for commenting and #StaySafe
ONE magic eraser on a pool that size, are you high? maybe 50, LOL....
Gosh damn we get it it's green get on with it
Just trying to paint the scene and be as thorough as possible. Thank you for watching
Big hoax. Thanks for busting it yo. Subbed
No problem. I was hopeful and then disappointed when it didn't work. That's why I did a video on it. Thanks for commenting and thanks for the sub. #StaySafe
*ya didnt even do it right-*
Ok explain to me how to do it the "right" way so I can try it again when I open my pool in April. Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
didnt work
I think we get that it's green🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You waited too long. Other people that have done this, their pools weren’t that green.
Maybe you're right, but it still should've done something. I tried it again with 6 erasers directly in the pump skimmer basket and still the same result. Thanks for watching and #StaySafe
he''s a pool man ,he dose not want it too work !!!!!! everyone try it it will work !! hahahaha but 2 or 1
I commented on the other comment you left
@@KNESBEY lol no im here really it worked on my pool !!! my pool is 60feet by 35 feet and is 12 feet deep its a big pool and it worked on my pool i used 3 of them and let it sit for 2 days its didt do a huge difference but it did something
What the neck there are 11 comments and I can't read them
They could possibly be troll comments and CZcams blocked them. I can't see them either. Thank you for watching
Your pools to big that’s the reason
I actually tried it again a week later with a whole box of 6 erasers and it was the same result. So there had to have been something else the person who originally made that video did for that to work
The pool was to filled up
If when you say "TOO MUCH," you actually mean there's 3 times as much water as an above ground pool then I agree lol. It still shouldn't have mattered because I tried it with 3 which should've been overkill and it made absolutely no difference. Thank you for watching
Kareem Nesbey no
The filter is dying with so much water that has to me a little that’s why not that much water is going threw the sponge
@@fastkiller1335 The pool water was at the necessary level for proper function. If you noticed in the video, there's a pool sentry water leveler there to maintain proper water levels. My pool gets full sun all day, so I have an evaporation problem which is why the water maintaining system is needed to keep the level from dropping. So again, the hack just didn't work. Thank you for commenting.
Kareem Nesbey I think it does work maybe not that much water went threw the sponge that’s why it was to green 😂
You really expected that one tiny sponge to clean out that giant pool?!? Good grief, use your common sense.
In watching the whole video, I disclosed my skepticism but I tried it anyway because of the trend and to humor myself. Afterwards I tried it again with 6 erasers and got the same result. Thank you for watching and #StaySafe
😂😂😂😂😂
Bru the pool is way to big and the pool is green ass fick
it goes in the pump you fool
I made a point to do it the same way that the lady did it in her video which was to put it in the filter basket just as she did. I was trying to either prove or disprove her hack as she showed it, I wasn't trying to figure out how to do it better. I did also tried it again the same way but with 6 erasers and got the same result. Thanks for watching and #StaySafe
Bro stop gasping every 10 seconds
Lol Bro... I'm outta shape... That's what outta shape people do lol... Thanks for watching and #StaySafe
you have too put 2-3 0f them this will take him out of biss he dont want that he said dont waist ur time lmao hahahaha scammm everyone try 2-3
Lol... I'm not a pool guy, if you check out my channel, you'll see it's 90% gadget and tech reviews. I'm just someone who owns a pool and refuses to pay someone else to service it, which is why I was hoping for this hack to work. Just FYI... I did try it again with 6 erasers due to the size of my pool, 3 in the skimmer and 3 in the return. I even let it work for 3 days and got the same results. I really had high hopes for this hack because I, like everyone else who has a pool wouldn't mind knowing of another much easier way to clear it out when necessary, but I can only base my opinion off of my experience just like others based their opinions off of their experience, which is what led me to even trying this hack lol. The quickest method that I use is "HTH Green to Blue" They sell is at Walmart for $20 for the kit and that's the fastest method I've tried so far to clear out my pool in a short account of time. Thanks for commenting and #StaySafe
your pool is too big
I also tried it with 6 erasers and got the same result. Thank you for watching
Ur silly bro.
BULL SH.......
Is not good for nothing at all
Lol
You talk a lot dude ✌
I don't think you understand how it's supposed to work. You intentionally did it wrong just to try and debunk it.
Too much jibber jabber.
😂 thank you for watching and #StaySafe
After 6 months of not cleaning your pool you think 1 magic eraser gonna do the job!!!🤣🤣🤣 You need a pallet full of magic eraser! Lessen learn clean your pool more often!🤣
In the beginning of the video I showed how my pool was just turning green and that the water was still clear and some algae was starting to form along the walls and bottom, by no means would I ever allow my pool to turn into a swamp. I actually did allow my pool to turn from clear to green specifically to try this hack though... so it was NOT sitting for 6 months untreated. After I tried with 1 eraser and it didn't work, I tried it again with the whole pack of 6 and got the same result, even after letting the pool run for 72 hours instead of just 24. I literally overkilled the hack to give it an actual chance to work. I ended up using HTH green to blue and my water was clear 24 hours later. Thank you for watching
You must have a comprehension issue. The man said that he allowed his pool to turn green for the purpose of the magic eraser experiment. His pool is not usually green and dirty.
