Really? I dont notice much of a difference.
It's probably because 4s retro stages just use the same models from their origins. Aka stages like Yoshi's island use their GameCube models whereas Ultimate remade every stage (even the 64 ones to some extent with the uncompressed assets)
@@yeah9690 Ultimate isn't that much faster. After you play PM or Melee and then look at Ultimate and Smash 4 you'll see there isn't that much of a difference in the speed. It's mainly the frame data buffs, ridiculous strength buffs and the fact that many characters(if not almost all of them) are made to be glass cannons. Ultimate also looks faster because there isn't really interesting mix ups you can do in neutral with movement anymore. Microspacing is almost nonexistent. Compare movement in competitive 4 to competitive Ultimate. Many would rather have Dash Dancing and Pivoting. Players like Nairo and Void could actually cut loose in 4 where Ultimate is holding them back. Ultimate is a momentum rollercoaster, which looks good to most spectators because they are casuals who don't play that much fighting games in general. Smash in general is a casual game. In 4, there were super crazy plays with actual high IQ decision making. Zero won 50 tournaments straight and had one of the illest wins against Mr.R. Civil War was one of the hypest tournaments ever for Smash but they required more skill thus better decision making. But good decision making requires options and now Ultimate strips all people of movements options. So while, lower level players and newbies to the series get better, vets at higher levels are stagnated because they have to rework years of training. Good decision making goes out the window almost every time you don't have a better character in Ultimate. Putting every one into one box. Thus, it results in faster and better looking matches but subpar gameplay. I understand the game but competitively it doesn't know what it wants. I can go further into detail if you want

It being sm4sh, and me still not having a switch, makes me happy to see someone still playing what I play, even if it’s not the specific version I play

Personally I find ultimate to be far more stylish and pleasing to look at with the stylized effects and attack smears.
But that's just me

It's a newer game, this should go without saying
It’s so similar to Smash 4 as well that everything can be considered an upgrade. Brawl’s art style is very different, and in result I would say Melee looks better, but that’s really not the case for Ultimate and Smash 4
The main thing I'll say is that the attacks and visual effects have a much more comic book aesthetic comparatively to Smash 4, which still seemed to carry over brawl's more "realistic" effects and such. This is very clear in attacks such as Zelda's up-air, Samus's forward air, and Pikachu's Thunder.
The effects pop more and have a lot more personality, not to mention Ultimate is way more fun to watch given the higher launch speeds, whereas Smash 4 you kind of capped out at a light float away, which would make it hard to tell if a move would kill you or not as you slowly drifted away.
I personally like Smash 4's look more overall because I actually really dislike all the flashy effects, which is why I think 64, Melee and Smash 4 all look great. There are some things that are beautiful in Ultimate but other things I really don't like the look of, such as the TERRIBLE win screens that undergo a harsh color change and effects on moves such as Cyclone (and all spinny moves in general), Dancing Blade, Bowser fair, Falco/Fox dair, Sheik fair, Sheik up smash, etc. Ultimate is also a bit more saturated and can sometimes be harsh on the eyes. I don't know if it's just me but I tried playing on Battfield version KOF stage and it was so hard to focus I had to pick a different stage. That's just an extreme example though. My eyes are kinda sensitive.
I really wanted smashtubers to go back to For Glory one more time. this is a blessing.
So far in three videos Ken has encountered a ROB.

Honestly, GSP sucks but it's better than nothing. Also, bring back for fun (without the lag) because I still came across a hazards on match when I was trying to play a tournament standard ruleset.
I literally lost like 15 games in a row on ultimate due to lag and luck and went from 4.2 mill to 300k gsp and it’s so demoralising
@@samhutchings6939 I know right! Like you win 200k, but when you fail a match you lose 800k or 1 Million. Its so bad!

Honestly I went back to smash 4 just to finish the challenge board and it’s a billion times harder and longer than ultimates and at first I thought it was horrendous but surprisingly u get used to how old the game looks, there’s things I prefer about smash 4 and ultimate but smash is smash I love it regardless

Smash 4 is now the least unique smash game, ultimate is just better. Smash 64 is the classic, and it has fun combo mecanics, melee is melee and is awesome, brawl is unique gameplay wise, is the best casual game. But smash 4 is just ultimate but worse

Am I the only one who actually likes how Smash 4's menu looks? Maybe it's nostalgia and first game preference but I really love the silouhettes in the background and don't really mind the odd shapes that make up the UI.
