We think that we may have different opinions about politics, football, fashion or many other things, but that we all live the same reality. It is not like this
We see the same things, hear the same sounds and experience the same stimuli, but each of us perceives them differently.
We all always carry with us a backpack with our values, opinions, beliefs, character traits and past experiences.
If, for example, your boss tells you... You have done this project very well. This phrase is objective and we should all interpret it the same, right? Well no.
How you interpret those words will depend on your self-confidence, your previous experience with that boss, with other bosses, and many other factors.
It has been proven that there is no single reality. Each of us perceives reality differently.
When you have a heated argument with someone, be empathetic. First, try to put yourself in their shoes and understand how they see it.
How do you see the world? What is your reality like? How is it different from yours? The other person is probably wrong, but so could you.
It is also possible that neither of you are wrong. Each one perceives it from a different reality.
