  • In this video I go over my setup on my 2023 KTM 350 XC-F at the thirty hour mark. The race that I refer to in the video has already taken place and you can watch my POV from the last special test on my channel. I did end up learning a lot from the TSCEC Red Canyon Enduro about the bike and will post another video that includes some recent updates as I've put another ten hours on the bike since then. Thanks for watching!

    Great vid. I’m 6’4” and need handlebar risers, would also like less vibration in the grips. Would you do a Maco 360 with a taller handlebar? Is there a set up you recommend?

    • @ColeKirkpatrick
      @ColeKirkpatrick  Před rokem

      Hi Eric, thanks for the positive feedback. The Mako 360 would be a great option. Use the code ratedgnar at checkout for a discount on the xcgear website. You could run something like a 996 bar that's a little higher or run some spacers under the mako 360 if you've already got a handlebar you like. Don't go too high though as high bars can make cornering in the seated position tricky. I'm a fan of lower bars and getting the bars in a position that's relatively neutral because it makes it easier to maintain proper form when you start getting tired.

  • @RC.56

    Nice review. Let me ask you what your thoughts are for a first dirtbike…. 23 300xc or 350xcf? Plenty of track time on street bikes, hopefully some of the clutching transfers over.
    Better to go with something more light and nimble in the 300, or more planted and stable in the 350?
    Don’t plan on doing any racing, would like to go exploring, long rides open trails, maybe some single tracks. Would maintenance and upkeep be a deciding factor between the two? Or premix? Need to look into that a bit more. Obviously, I don’t have a preference between 2t/4t, yet. 6’2 210. Thanks

    • @ColeKirkpatrick
      @ColeKirkpatrick  Před rokem +1

      Hi RC, thanks for watching. Both of those bikes might be a bit aggressive for a first dirt bike. Of the two though, I think that the power delivery and characteristic of the 350xcf would be better suited for someone that is used to street bikes. The 350 would work better on open dirt roads and the power wouldn't be as abrupt as the two stroke 300. Maintenance is similar on both machines, make sure you change oil as recommend and keep the air filter clean. These bikes can run for a long long time if properly maintained. I highly recommend finding a riding coach in your area or getting with a friend that has ridden a dirt bike before to help with the process. Best of luck! FWIW, there are many trail bike options from other manufacturers (even though I'm an orange bleeder) that might be worth looking into. Just look for something with full size wheels (18in rear, 21in front) and electric start.

    What performance do you get out of the KTM factory triple clamps or any aftermarket ones vs the stock ones besides looks. I’m on the fence about buying some

    • @ColeKirkpatrick
      @ColeKirkpatrick  Před rokem

      Different clamps can give a different feel to the front end. Ones like the KTM PowerParts split clamps provide a little more flex than the oem xc-f ones. The cast clamps that come on the xc-w, xcf-w and exc-f bikes provide the most front end comfort as they flex a little more. This is mostly noticeable in choppy conditions and rocks/roots.

    Hi Cole, I have a 23 SX 350 and I’m wondering what the differences are besides the tank. Is the gearbox ratio different? Is the ignition and power curve different? Do the SX and XCF run the same chassis?

    • @ColeKirkpatrick
      @ColeKirkpatrick  Před rokem +1

      Hi there. You're correct on the tank but there are quite a few other things that are different as well. The SX is a five speed transmission so the gear ratios are different, the SX has a 19inch rear wheel and the XC is an 18inch rear wheel. The suspension valving is different in OEM form, the SX doesn't have an o-ring chain. Other than that they are really similar...the CDI boxes might be a little different too.
