MTV (Finland; not affiliated with MTV/Music Television) was launched as a programming block on 13th August 1957. MTV stands for Mainos-TV, which means Advertisement-TV/Commercial TV. Number 3 was added on 1st January 1993, when the channel was given the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three". My next ident history video will be on Gold, a British pay television channel.
