Cage drying should only be used if necessary. Never cage dry a curly coated coat or a dog with a single straight coat such as a Shih-Tzu or Maltese as the coat will dry curly or wavy.
Cage drying can be used on double coated, single coated or smooth coated breeds if necessary.
Use caution and always be in the same room to keep an eye on the dog in the cage/crate/kennel as they can overheat or get very stressed. Death has occurred in some cases.
Cage drying is basically placing the dog in a cage with a towel on the floor to absorb the water and then a dryer is aimed at the cage to dry the dog inside.
Stretch/Fluff drying is when a stand dryer or a hands free dryer is aimed at the area of the dog that needs drying while being brushed. This separates the coat, straightens the coat and dries the coat which achieves a nice finish. This is time consuming and takes muscle strength.
Hi-Velocity drying in the quickest method to dry a dog. It straightens the coat while drying.
While using the cone condenser it can loosen mats and possible blow them out. When using on an undercoated dog, it can take out or loosen the undercoat making it much easier for the groomer to finish the dog in an appropriate time frame. The flair nozzle takes the water off in sheets. These two nozzles are more forceful and should not be used on stressed or senior dogs. Take off the nozzle for these type of dogs and also for smaller dogs, the other nozzles are too strong for them.
A variable dryer is best so that you can adjust the strength of the flow to accommodate the dogs tolerance of the dryer.
If the dog is stressed while drying the head, stop immediately and use another method of drying as stress can lead to a seizure especially in senior dogs.
I recommend using the fluff/stretch method on the heads and on difficult, stressed or senior dogs.
Always do what's best for the dog!
The dog comes first!

zoe gaur I do play soft music when not making a video. CZcams does not aloud the music in the videos.
zoe gaur Thank you for the compliment
Very helpful video! Thank you for sharing! What about under the ear? I have a poodle mix and I get very nervous about drying around her ear once I flip the ear up. Any tips would be great appreciated!
Put ear over the head don't blow intro ears
Hello and thanks again for your excellent channel!
When using the high velocity dryer do you find that the tube becomes very hot?
No it does not get hot. This is the Dryer I use amzn.to/2zKhASW
10:10 he looks so innocent and adorable 🥰❤️
What make of stand dryer do you have and do you find it good thank you
Thank you for this video. I'm getting poodle so this video has been very useful! How long did it take to dry him to completion?
+Sere Ogunsanya It took about 45 minutes
Thanks for the reply on the clippers. Do you keep the 10 blade on and use combs or do prefer to clip the body with another blade without comb?
When I use the comb attachments I use a 30 blade as that works the best and what is recommended for under the combs. I do prefer to use the combs as I feel it gives a better clip but I do occasionally use a blade. I like the 7f, 5f or 4f blades for short clips. I love using the #1 or #0 comb attachments on most dogs that want a little bit of length. I feel that the combs are easier to use then the blades when doing the legs and sensitive areas. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions
Have you a tipp how is a dog, Spaniel, becomes flat hairs or Curly hairs straight
Do you always start with legs? I know with rinsing you want to start with the back and legs.
My question is about clippers. Standard poodle body clipper recommendation? Not sure which km series to get. I have the Wahl Bravura but not good enough for the body of my 2 year old. Which km model do you recommend? Thanks, Tina
Hi, I use this clipper for body and leg work amzn.to/3a8i7vR
It comes cordless also.
The bravura is good for the feet, face, tail and groin
always hold the ears closed when using the dryer
You cant close a dogs ear. >.
@@silverstarwing1 you can if you hold between thumb and index finger😁
When I dry my Goldendoodles their hair whipps around and I create knots. Am I going to fast?
Knots are sometimes created if the dryer is on too high and also if you are going in too small of circles. If you are too far away from the cost, the dryer can create knots of if the cost is really long, it's hard not to create mats. Are you using the condenser? Condensers create knots so I don't use it unless I have to.
If you ever get a chance could you show how you dry and brush a double coated dog like a spitz?
Silvia C I don't groom many double coated breeds but if I do I will make a video. Thanks for asking.
I was wondering if you can fluff/stretch dry a dog with a normal human hair dryer? might be a stupid question but better to ask then do something stupid (haven’t finished the video)
Yes you can use a normal dryer, it may take longer as most human dryers are not as powerful as dog dryers but it can be done.
Wouldn’t it make sense to dry from the top to bottom of pet as water is just spread all over the body when you start on the feet
whats the name of your dyer and is it available in amazon?
+Jadey Caterial Hi, I use this dryer Dryer: amzn.to/2DXz93Q
i admire your way taking care of your standard poodle... the way you handle him eradicates the hard image of taking care large breeds.
Do you comb them out before you wash them? Due to Covid, my groomer is closed and I'm so scared to try it myself. She's got a few mats on her leg poms and I don't want to make them worse!
You could comb them out before the bath or while you have shampoo or conditioner on the coat as it makes the coat more flexible and slippery to get the brush or comb through.
@@LoveofGrooming Thank you! And do you usually use conditioner?
Where did you get that kennel
I got the cages from Clark Cages. Give the name a search as they have a website.
PLEASE ANSWER
I just bought myself a dryer and when I started to use it for the first time it made a high pitch whistling noise... any tips?
What kind of dryer did you buy?
Love of Grooming shedland pet dryer 3.2 HP force dryer
@@thecondocrew2718 How did you end up liking that dryer? I’m thinking of getting the same one.
People will now put there dog in a travel carrier/crate and fashion up a stand to hold their hand dryer and dry their dog that way. People are stupid. DON'T ever crate dry your animal unless you have a no heat blow dryer specifically designed to be used for cage drying.
My dog is ... um ... well ...let's just say my dog is very over exited.😉😆
Helpful video. Would be even more so without the awful music!
Glad my video was helpful. Sorry about the music.
I would like you show how to dry a real dog, a dog that is affraid of the blower. With a dog as yours it looks so easy and it s not
Most of my dogs that I groom are good for grooming because they are on a regular schedule. I dont groom difficult dogs but used to. It would be hard for me to make a video on a difficult dog because I have no one to move the camera for me since my hands would be on the dog most of the time while its fighting. If the dog does not like the dryer and fights it gets cage dried. I don't stress them out and force them to stand still.
Love of Grooming thank you for your answer.
Say no to cage drying for any dog! 🐾
Unless it's a senior or terrified of the dryer then cage drying may be necessary under supervision
it is a sin to cage dry a poodle lol..nooooo
It sure is.
First way its horrible 😭
