I loved Nadine’s humbleness, kindness and intelligence! I hope other young female viewers witnessed female intelligence and having your own goals, is important to developing your strengths.

To have Nadine’s achievement, you also need a rich family and educated parents who will guide you to such path in your life. Her getting into ivy leagues is not surprising when she grew up with such resources to get these achievements however what I really really like about Nadine is the humbleness and I don’t know if it’s because of her introvert personality but she seems that way. She didn’t stuff it into people’s face that she is attending Harvard unlike Seulgi who kept mentioning SNU
She lost my respect as soon as she was in pre med lol. There is no such a thing as pre med. I can major in music and tell everyone I'm in pre med. Any undergrad can say they are in pre med. It means nothing. She is someone who needs attention all the time and the viewers are getting fooled.

As someone who is in a "prestigious" field of study myself, I've come to realise that people have different strengths or types of intelligence, so you shouldnt feel inferior or superior to anyone else. For example, one might be good in math but less so in linguistics, arts, or social skills. Capitalism just happens to financially reward certain skills more, but it does not make other skills inherently less valuable. Moreover many of my peers have successful parents who have dedicated immense resources to nurture their children to enter "harvard", "medicine", etc. It is usually not an individual achievement but comes from the sacrifices of an entire community surrounding the student. Character, though, is ultimately what makes a man or a woman.
Yah, you are very right. Im a college drop out, in a 3rd world country, works 3 days a week for 1k USD a month. Never been happier. My only regret was I didn't even try making my parents dream for me (Surgeon).

As a native Korean, I never understood the constant sizing up or down of where one falls in the totem pole on the class, education, and career totem pole. It's sad that the specter of Korea's old caste system still pervades modern Korean society.
it's actually fairly new or at least vanished for a while. The previous generation who was sacrificed to build korea didn't give a shit about which unversity or what. Just had to feed and take care of your family properly. But the new Korea is extremely focused on competition and WHICH university you go to rather that what you study or what you accomplished became everything. They study almost to death just to get in the "top" universities and on the day of the exam the entire country shuts down. They even stop all air traffic. Suicide rate is crazy around those exams. But once you are in the university, you can chill. In my country it's the opposite. You can go to any university (and they all are in the top 100) but to stay in you need to study hard. In my opinion their brain stuffing system is super inefficient, it kills creativity and ability to think outside the box, and will likely have bad consequences later on Korea.
Everyone at Harvard knows better than to flex their university; it's not how you build a relationship. Everyone already knows they have a strong work ethic. They don't need to flex. But when they do, and believe me, they will eventually - they will drop the name. They get a secret thrill out of that. Just like anyone with any high level pedigree/career/background. I don't see Nadine's roots as spellbinding. Like everyone else mentioned, she was molded from her parents and was trained to be the best of the best. She still deserves credit for hard work. But to dismiss the environmental factors that contributed to who she is, would be a disservice to everyone else struggling. I did enjoy the ROTC mention, though. That was unexpected and I wonder if that's what gained her a foothold into the candidate pool. It's definitely out of the ordinary and as an EMT...you def see some traumatic things. My respect for that.

I knew her a long before she appeared on Single Inferno. Though I didn't watch this show not even the first season but when I got to know that she is in this show this time I was quite shocked. She is really a the perfect example of beauty with brain. I loved to watch her harvard vlogs but I didn't watch her vlogs for many days. Then when I got to know that she is in this show I again searched her channel and watched her videos. She is perfect🖤

I wish the viewers were also as humble as Nadine. She’s an intelligent and goal oriented woman with a great character and the utmost humbleness. She does not look down on the others because they have less achievements than her, neither does she treat them any differently. Her attitude is very normal and laid back. But it seems like a lot of viewers look down on other contestants when comparing to Nadine. It’s great to want to hype her because of course she deserves it but it seems to me like a lot of viewers and especially fans tend to put the other contestants down to elevate her. 99% of the people who believe these guys didn't choose her because they were intimidated are just insecure themselves. She lives across the world, only there for a few months at a time, with a clear language barrier and she said herself she isn't looking for anything serious...Why would any of them choose her unless they just wanted to just hit it and quit. Not exactly, you choose your major before getting accepted into university in America. Alternatively, students can change majors while they are in undergrad. There’s a lot more flexibility being a university student in America. Being a “pre-health” student (like pre-med) doesn’t mean you are already accepted into that health discipline. It means you are trying to take the classes, prepare for the admission exam (ex. Mcat), etc.. to hopefully get admitted to a health professional school like med school. If ultimately accepted, THEN they will do 4 or more years of that health professional discipline like med school. People in Korea are so shocked because they think she’s already in some type of med school training program which she isn’t. In Korea, people don’t just pick a major in university and then apply for med school like in America. Instead they automatically start their professional schooling (ex. As a med student) right after high school
Off topic but i have some theories on why things didn’t work out for Dong woo: - For Seul-ki, she said it herself he was too pushy and treating her like a kid. But it might have also been weird for her that his profession is the same as her dad’s. -For Nadine, he wasn’t really sincere, and it probably made him feel weird or threatened that she’s pursuing medicine like he did. -He’s a bit self-absorbed and can’t take no for an answer (like bruh Seul-ki clearly rejected you and you still didn’t get the message)
I didn’t think Dongwoo felt threatened by Nadine. I think he saw someone who very obviously has a long road ahead in a different country whereas he’s a 32-year-old plastic surgeon with a life in Korea. It seemed pretty obvious to me that it wouldn’t really work out if she could only see him during holidays.

I don't think, in a lot of cases it's intimidation necessarily, but more so, disappointment that they won't be able to live up to what her expectations are and I don't mean that negatively towards Nadine. Jinyoung obviously said he wanted a girlfriend that is already secure. Because he didn't have a lot of money yet to take care of a gf at that time. So someone that already has a job is the best for him. That's why he kept telling Nadine that he was interested to know what her job is before they went to the hotel. Obviously, he felt troubled knowing she was still a student and still need a lot of time to finish the study. And he had similar troubles with Seulki. That's all. As a native Korean, I never understood the constant sizing up or down of where one falls in the totem pole on the class, education, and career totem pole. It's sad that the specter of Korea's old caste system still pervades modern Korean society.
it's actually fairly new or at least vanished for a while. The previous generation who was sacrificed to build korea didn't give a shit about which unversity or what. Just had to feed and take care of your family properly. But the new Korea is extremely focused on competition and WHICH university you go to rather that what you study or what you accomplished became everything. They study almost to death just to get in the "top" universities and on the day of the exam the entire country shuts down. They even stop all air traffic. Suicide rate is crazy around those exams. But once you are in the university, you can chill. In my country it's the opposite. You can go to any university (and they all are in the top 100) but to stay in you need to study hard.
In my opinion their brain stuffing system is super inefficient, it kills creativity and ability to think outside the box, and will likely have bad consequences later on Korea.
Everyone at Harvard knows better than to flex their university; it's not how you build a relationship. Everyone already knows they have a strong work ethic. They don't need to flex. But when they do, and believe me, they will eventually - they will drop the name. They get a secret thrill out of that. Just like anyone with any high level pedigree/career/background.
I don't see Nadine's roots as spellbinding. Like everyone else mentioned, she was molded from her parents and was trained to be the best of the best. She still deserves credit for hard work. But to dismiss the environmental factors that contributed to who she is, would be a disservice to everyone else struggling.
I did enjoy the ROTC mention, though. That was unexpected and I wonder if that's what gained her a foothold into the candidate pool. It's definitely out of the ordinary and as an EMT...you def see some traumatic things. My respect for that.

I knew her a long before she appeared on Single Inferno. Though I didn't watch this show not even the first season but when I got to know that she is in this show this time I was quite shocked. She is really a the perfect example of beauty with brain. I loved to watch her harvard vlogs but I didn't watch her vlogs for many days. But she’s already in Harvard thou. I heard from an American friend that they have to study around 2 to 3 years of general stuff and THEN they get to chose a major which idk in yours but in my country is not like this.
Not exactly, you choose your major before getting accepted into university in America. Alternatively, students can change majors while they are in undergrad. There’s a lot more flexibility being a university student in America. Being a “pre-health” student (like pre-med) doesn’t mean you are already accepted into that health discipline. It means you are trying to take the classes, prepare for the admission exam (ex. Mcat), etc.. to hopefully get admitted to a health professional school like med school. If ultimately accepted, THEN they will do 4 or more years of that health professional discipline like med school. People in Korea are so shocked because they think she’s already in some type of med school training program which she isn’t. In Korea, people don’t just pick a major in university and then apply for med school like in America. Instead they automatically start their professional schooling (ex. As a med student) right after high school

- For Seul-ki, she said it herself he was too pushy and treating her like a kid. But it might have also been weird for her that his profession is the same as her dad’s.

Jinyoung obviously said he wanted a girlfriend that is already secure. Because he didn't have a lot of money yet to take care of a gf at that time. So someone that already has a job is the best for him. That's why he kept telling Nadine that he was interested to know what her job is before they went to the hotel. Obviously, he felt troubled knowing she was still a student and still need a lot of time to finish the study. And he had similar troubles with Seulki. That's all.
