I love how whether they're playing on a street corner in New Orleans, or the prestigious Newport Jazz Festival, Tuba Skinny remains Tuba Skinny. They know who they are, and they know what they got. Don't lowball them...lol.

They would never have allowed all of those idiot photographers in his day and I'm speaking as someone whose main hobby is photography. When I am at a music concert the last thing that I want to do is to take photographs.

I really enjoy listening to Tuba Skinny. I love Dixieland jazz. I think it's in the blood. My third cousin was the well known trombonist Miff Mole. My grandfather also played the trombone in a Dixieland band. The musicians of Tuba Skinny are so talented. 💜
They are just the greatest. I urge all of you to see and hear them live.

Outstanding audio and video quality. Covid caused their previos booking at Newport Jazz to cancel, although I had planned months in advance to see them. But this video greatly makes up for that! Well done John Dobbs!!

Clarence Williams at the Newport Jazz Festival ! When was the last time we heard this style on this iconic scene ? Very good! It took a band like Tuba Skinny and their quality to do it and it's great that it happened to them, they deserve it.
Al Cohn who played this scene in the past and now his granddaughter Shaye, must be very proud up there and rightfully so.
They are the best. I have seen them live in New Orleans as well as Nashville. If you get a chance to see them, do it

I think Newport Jazz Festival is just saying "Welcome Home, Tuba Skinny".
Shae is probably the finest cornet player living today. Not sure how hip this audience is to trad jazz. But there they are ! Made every European Festival and Americans can be so damn slow to get with it...and it's roots music baby. I'm a be-bop guy, but I came up with King Oliver and Mugsy Spanier as a kid, cause thats what was in the closet.

why do people with cameras think they are the only ones at a concert? great music but nasty looking hair dos, caps and backs of those hogging the view.
