    Masterclass tutorial and instruction via video + written explanations. The detail is phenomenal - way above elsewhere - and that’s because it’s coming from a world class level rider who understands the technicals AND is able to translate fully to viewers. Honestly, learn more and accomplish more with your level of detail and I can only thank you humbly for advancing and improving the sheer fun and enjoyment of kitesurfing. Sincerely appreciated. Thanks Steven! 🪂😊

    I recently switched kites from a slower turning five-strut kite to Reedins and I also moved to a place with consistently stronger wind. The adjustments completely threw off my backrolls which used to be easy. Your explanation of edging vs. carving and also your breakdown of the difference between a regular backroll and sent backroll directly address what I've been trying to figure out with the new kites and wind conditions. Thank you.

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  Před 2 lety

      Hey konstantin. I'm glad that the tips helped! I'm not sure which grab you mean, but if I grab and extend my back leg as you can see in the thumbnail from the video or the backroll at: 0:26 I slow down my rotation. But there is also some editing and slow motions in the beginning part of the video where I slow down playback speed 😉

    Thanks! I tried inverted and think I did it. I struggled a lot with kite steering. I solved it with pulling hard on the front hand, and that worked. I guess I randomly pull on my back hand when looking down on the toes? I dont have this problem when doing classic/send backrolls.

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  Před 2 lety +1

      Awesome! Happy that you're managing. On different take offs it often happens that you steer the kite in a different way and therefor have to correct. Well done on correcting that!

    Fantastics video! The first senquence (first seconds) is a blast. I had a debate with 2 different friends about whether it is a front rool or a back roll. It seems to be a back-roll because 1/ you mention it and 2/ the rotation happens after the end of the transition.
    So here is my inquery. Could you make a short video explaining this insane trick?

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  Před rokem +1

      Nice, It's a very fun trick to try, but you need a lot of speed! I can try to add it in an SA Masterclass #short
      I would count it as a backroll, but when you look at it from the original riding direction it would be a frontroll.

  • @i.b.9527
    @i.b.9527 Před rokem

    Another canuck here, loving your style. Man, can you please take a minute to break down that double backroll at 6:40? I've see you do it twice, also on another vid. There is really something unique about it, would deserve a vid of its own. Smoothly done, it looks sick, never seen anybody else do it. It really is high on my bucketlist, but I can't figure the whole scenario you're doing there. the first Sent backroll is really high, somehow my sent backrolls dont get much higher than 4m (even though If I would send it without the backroll I would reach double that easy.) . You do have a real nice, hard edging, judging from the spray, which seems to be the trick. Letting the bar go on the top seems like you're refilling the kite for a nice parachute effect, then for the second roll, seems like you're helilooping it, and compacking yourself for increase inertia, as you're spinning much faster. Would love your insight. Cheers bro and continue the excellent content

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  Před rokem +1

      You pretty much described the entire trick already! 🤣
      It's a very fun send backroll variation that I got from a friend of mine. Basically you send your kite back for a jump and add a backroll rotation in there. After the first backroll and when you're nearly at the top you do a barspin to untwist your bar. At this moment the kite also shoots more towards the edge of the wind window and you fall quite a bit faster whilst adding the second rotation. Because the kite is further behind you it and you have a lot of speed coming down the kite will lift you again on the downloop. That feeling is what I like so much about the trick, freefall to get lifted again.
      Key tip would be to send your kite a bit further than you usually would on a normal jump, gives you more pull on the downloop.
      I can try and make a short one about it, could be fun!

    • @i.b.9527
      @i.b.9527 Před rokem

      @@stevenakkersdijk Awesome! yeah I imagined there was a heliloop thrown in there, it was hard to see on both times you've shown it in your videos, but it made sense :) Man, a vid on this trick would be great, it is one of the most stylish jumps I've seen on youtube. Its not a double backroll at all, the way it is executed is definitly something else! There are a lot of variables to consider in accomplishing it, seems like an incredible feeling! you should claim a name for it lol :)

      Song is: Bryant Bark - Dylan Sitts (it's from Epidemic sound). If you're enjoying the 8m XR pro you'll also love the 10m XR pro, but it's mainly aimed at strong wind riding conditions. So I think the XR8 will be more allround in all wind conditions. Considering other allula kites... I don't think this will be the last.

    • @stevenakkersdijk

      It happens a lot, the hand placement is already a step in the right direction. Other than that there is not much you can do though. If I know that I do something wrong I always really try and focus on doing that right in the next tricks. So forget about the perfect takeoff or high speed. Just think about the kite positioning. say to yourself: front hand, front hand, front hand.
