Thats one efficient-looking steam engine, high-rpm, powerful and making less exhaust smoke than many modern diesel locomotives do.
The smoke is steam, reason why you aren’t seeing a lot of it coming from the funnel is because the fireman knows what he’s doing...

The signal is green, but it automatically turns red when the locomotive passing the strain sensors

I'm absolutely aware of what I said: diesel engines are boring. steam locomotives are awesome. imagine if we replaced the diesels with steam engines and then they again rule the rails.

yeah, that's what I've gathered anyways. when he sprayed that liquid in the fire got higher, so I guess it was a fuel of some sort.

That's very unsafe for people to stand that close to that engine while it's on fire! They are lucky it wasn't a water or boiler issue, that would have ended in disaster! It looks like burning coals somehow got blown into the smoke box caused the soot to catch fire. Still that could cause serious damage to the flues, tubes and super heater causing more issues.
Watching it again it looks like they might be spraying kerosene into the smokebox to remove the tar buildup from it, and that kerosene ignited and was dripping down off the petticoat as it burned. The fire gets bigger when he sprays it instead of smaller like I would expect if water or a fire extinguisher was sprayed into a smokebox.
