@@Viewer-ld5rc Well yes, it was mostly for that, movies cost a lot of money, and he liked filming movies, he very much dedicated his whole life to the craft, in fact he stayed true to himself till the end, I'll agree to that, but really I never said that the money was for himself alone, I just said "as long as he got paid", which I feel was right.

I think the way he did his performance as Unicron works for the character as this ancient being who’s past was lost to time (Until Call of The Primitives) and being indifferent about everything else other than his want to consume. Only caring when his minions tries to doublecross him by threatening him with the only item that could stop him which in turn angered him to a point where he’ll destroy Cybertron than to eat it like he would with other planets.

I hope this audio puts to rest all those false claims that Welles’s voice was weak and had to be salvaged with synthesizers. Sure, it was made to sound even deeper and more resonant, but his voice was far from weak. He died just five days after recording this, but his unmistakable voice was as effective as ever.

I’m trying to separate fact from fiction. I was told that Orson Wells’ voice work was unusable because his voice sounded weak. Orson sounded very good here, sonorous, euphonious, resonant, bright and everything you would expect from the legendary actor/director/producer/writer. The Transformers producers should have just admitted that they played with the audio in post production and they liked the extra gravitas Orson’s voice had when they applied sound effects like reverb and slowing the pitch and speed of the original audio. As is was perfect if you ask me. I’m glad Orson took the role of Unicron, even though he wasn’t a fan of Transformers. He was a fan of hefty paychecks, and sometimes that’s good enough.

The audio crew for the Transformers movie seems to have oversold their work on Welles' voice. They said in interviews that they had to apply a lot of filters to it because his voice was so weak, but really, it seems like he was just doing a dramatic whispery tone, and all they did to it was pitch it down. Still, it's effective.
