- The Miami Dolphins have a decision to make ahead about paying quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after seeing how the Jacksonville Jaguars paid Trevor Lawrence. Although Tagovailoa has been among the highest in passer rating in the NFL, has he played well enough for the Dolphins to pay him over $50 million per year? Chris Carter and James Rapien don't think so, and explain why in comparsions with him across the NFL.

Anyone with a mic can have an opinion that doesn't matter...these guys are clueless. You can tell they have never even watched the Dolphins play.
What's interesting to me is how much perceptions have changed about what you want a QB to do since Patrick Mahomes came into the league. Before him, most of the good QBs played with quick processing, release, and anticipation from the pocket, e.g. Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, Rees, Eli, Peyton, Matt Ryan, etc. were successful despite being "physically limited" and dual-threat, dynamic guys like Vick, Lamar, Josh Allen, RG3 etc. were considered risky. I see Tua in the Kurt Warner mold and capable of running a high-octane offense. I think that the Dolphins' difficulties against better defenses have more to do with their lack of a short-yardage, power running game than with Tua.
Not Tu-anon but your take regarding Tua as a system QB is lazy. Of course he’s a system QB. Thing is - he’s THE best for the type of system Miami runs (only Mahomes is better). So since Mahomes isn’t available you’re gonna pay Tua.

Maybe the Dolphins will trade Tua Tagovailoa along with 2025 2nd- and 4th-round picks and 2026 2nd- and 6th-round picks to the Raiders for 2025 and 2026 1st-round picks and then acquire Kyler Murray, 2025 3rd- and 5th-round picks, and 2026 3rd-, 5th-, and 7th-round picks from the Cardinals for 2025 3rd- and 7th-round compensatory picks.
