    I've tried to transition to primarily using a hawk and trowel but I don't think I do enough to ever really get comfortable with it so I'm sticking with knife and pan or knife and hawk for most things. It's just so much more user friendly for the occasional taper/finisher.

    for the people outside of australia (US/CANIDA) we dont use pre mix base coat in aus, we mix the mud ourselves,, so we can gauge how thick or thin we want it by adding more of less water, thats why it doesnt go everywhere when we apply it

    • @carlcox7332
      @carlcox7332 Před 8 měsíci

      We mix water here in the US too. It just comes really thick in the bucket or boxes and you have to thin down depending on what your doing. It's way too thick straight from the bucket tho. The only dry they have where I'm at is the hot mud like the 5, 20, 45, and 90 minute compounds

    • @carlcox7332
      @carlcox7332 Před 8 měsíci

      It's a lot faster to thin down premix than it is to mix from dry powder. I do remodels so I use a ton of 20 minute dry compound. It also lets me do multiple coats in a single day. The only time I really use the premix is on really large jobs and for my texture and thin finish coats

      Sheetrock easy sand 90 minutes (45 minute if it's a small job) for all taping and sheetrock easy sand 45 for first coat on all beads and we use sheetrock total lite for 2nd coat and 3rd coat. Basically if you see us using white mud that's a powder mixed with water and goes hard in the time thats on the bag (45 or 90). The yellow is a premix mud that is air drying not chemically set like the white mud.

    Hello, I've been watching your channel for a long time and I'm surprised if your quality is not checked? or is it ok? It's just that we have a good repair in Russia, these are 90 ° angles, the geometry of the whole house is in millimeters, we completely stretch drywall with a finishing putty, or we glue the fiberglass and putty then paint. perforated corners (these are glands at the corners we call that), you just put them on and it sticks out by 3 millimeters and stretches 15-20 cm already there is no 90 ° angle. we either cut it out once under them and set it to 90 ° or stretch at least 1 meter, show me your gypsum board under an angle light please in the next video, is it perfectly flat? Thank.

      Its not a perfect 90 degrees. It feathers out. Its not noticeable to the eye. Same as putting tape over a butt joint. The joint will be raised because of the tape and mud over top but using a wide joint, it feathers out to a point where it isn't noticeable to the eye.

      Not sure what what they're called they're stainless steel and have a redish pink handle. Just any stiff trowel is good for first coat so you don't pull to much out you want it as flat as possible if you're using base so your other costs go on thin
