  • Could this be the cleanest tropical paradise community in the Philippines!?
    Barobo, Surigao Del Sur, is a unique Municipality found on the east coast of Mindanao. With houses densely populated along its enchanting river... you would think that it would be gross and heavily polluted?! Nope. It is clean, clear and absolutely stunning!
    Not only that, there is a very "enchanted style" river, that sits right near an amazing cold spring.
    A clean tropical paradise town... BEAUTIFUL!

      We should be doing that everywhere, not just in one beautiful place. The Philippines as a whole is absolutely one of, if not the most beautiful and amazing places on earth, and then so many areas you see the insane amount of rubbish everywhere for no reason other than laziness. We as travelers are a drop in the bucket, the Filipino people everywhere are the ones who truly need to take lessons from this community.

    Been to surigao many times, and there are alot of rivers there that is super clean. One time we passed over a river connecting to the ocean that the waters starts from the caves and it was underneath a road. There are also alot of slums there but still the waters are enchanting.

I grew up in Manila sad to say don't have the chance to travel so I only saw a polluted river in Manila. I really wanna go there to experience the beautiful river and that lagoon also. Thanks kulas! I think plastics are not the problem. It’s the irresponsible users and the lack of proper and effective waste management. One simple thing e.g. the garbage trucks they are using are not the standard garbage trucks. Most common they use dump trucks which are open and no compressor. Plastic bags are still allowed in Singapore which is very strict in implementing cleanliness. This is also the same in your home country Kyle, Canada, up to at least 2 years ago when we visited the beautiful Niagara Falls and they used plastic bags on our purchases. This is also the same in the US where we put our trash and garbage in a plastic bag and dump them in a plastic garbage bin. They collect them every Saturday and Wednesday without fail. At least 3 countries that I personally know plastics has never been an issue. This is not a personal opinion. I’ve been to Canada, I’m now in Singapore and I am permanently residing in New York. Thank you.

    • @BecomingFilipino
      @BecomingFilipino  Před 5 lety +1

      They just banned plastic bags in Victoria Canada last year. Proper trash disposal is definitely of massive importance as well

    • @theshriekinghominin1760
      @theshriekinghominin1760 Před 5 lety

      It is though, but also as you've said our attitude towards it exacerbates the problem. Only few plastics get recycled to date, even developed countries don't have the proper facilities to properly process plastic. Those they can't recycle, they burn for energy, which we all know is beneficial for our air quality. Funny because you mentioned Canada, do you still remember a few years back when they shipped tons of their trash to us? That's an awful practice many first world countries do not just Canada; Korea, Japan, USA, UK, Australia etc. (basically name a rich country and you're most probably right) ship their garbage to poor countries. Did it seem like they have no garbage problem? It's because they pass on the problem to third world countries. Singapore on the other hand has their trash island.
      But the problem just doesn't end there, plastic is never eco-friendly even when recycled. In fact, about 80% of the microplastics in the ocean come from our clothes that made of polyesters, which are usually recycled from plastic bottles. So yeah, unless a new form of bacteria or some plants or fungi evolve to metabolize or process plastic, the best thing to do for our environment is to use less of it.

    This can be better than the famous Giethoorn of Netherlands. kasi ang giethoorn d malinaw ang water at maliit lang ang water way pero ang stunning landscape and community but itong Borobo natural ang landscape at amazing pa sya kasi malinaw kahit nasa middle ng populated community na pwedeng pwede pang idevelop. Bayaran lahat ng nakatirang ayaw ng idevelop ang house nila at yung mga gusto idevelop pautangin ng governmet para pagandahin ang bahay nila para pwedeng upahan ang bahay nila ng mga turista or bayaran ang buong community at idevelop to a world class one of a kind tourist destination.
