I know he'd just turned 62, but in my mind's eye, I'll always see him just like this-beautifully sweet-faced and looking just like an angel. Sweet Ian-RIP!!
@@christinacrowley3631 me too. I used to lay on my bed & cry to this when Ian left the group. I was lucky enough to meet him in 2007, & 2008. He was a sweetheart. I had a stack of things for him to sign including a Rosetta Stone album. He called me love and kissed my cheek! I felt like I was 12 again! RIP Ian. You are greatly missed & always will be. 💘 🌈
I know! And I think back to those days and, as a 10/11-year-old, he seemed so grown up! The professionalism and poise of ALL those young men is a testament to the talent and integrity that not many seemed to notice.
Shocked today, 2/9/2020, to learn of the passing of Ian Mitchell. Far too young at 62 years. May he fly high with the Angels. My thoughts are with his family.
Where did the years go? I was 12. I never would've imagined that one day I would end up sitting on my porch alone in the middle of the night, crying uncontrollably, because this beautiful man has passed away. Dear God, you took him too soon....why do those who are so special pass away too soon?
I remember the Rollers performing this song live in Atlanta in 1976, and it gave me goosebumps then. Ian had that sweet Irish voice. If I remember correctly, people actually stopped screaming to listen to him sing.
RIP Ian, Very sad to hear the news today. I adored you when you joined the Bay City Rollers. THANK YOU for the great memories. Very sad you are gone but Alan is waiting for you with open arms. Your in good hands now.
Although a 'classic' five devotee, this performance shows the excellence of Ian's input into the band and the same can be said for Pat. This is a very 'good looking' video; all the Rollers look extraordinarily handsome and are smilingly relaxed! How did they manage to find such musical talent combined with such stunning looks? But I guess that's what made the Rollers stand out from the crowd ---then and NOW. Thanks Janny. Regards, Jo.
I still can't believe this beautiful man is gone. I'll always remember how truly happy he looked when he was performing! I especially oved watching him during the later years, it was so obvious how much he enjoyed playing and singing!
Every so often, I come back to this video and just watch it. They just looked so happy and carefree. Hopefully they were. I just loved them so very much. I love their expressions in this video and everything about it. Wendy, if you ever come back here, give us a shout out.
Amen. As a 10 year old at the time I thought this young man was the most perfect human I’d ever seen. I love music. Thank you Ian and thank you Rollers again. For the absolute best times of my life.
The years have flown by for all of us. It is incredibly sad Ian is not here to enjoy his legacy. This song brings back happy memories of a young girls dream. Ian play on endlessly …
I give Ian so much credit . He walked into that roller coaster of a job, at age 17... Nailed this song perfectly... Acted with a lot of poise and dignity on TV ... No ego trips... Got out when it was too crazy . Very cool guy and talented .
I had forgotten what a great song this is and what a great singer ian mitchell was. So sad that he died so young. RIP ian, alan and les and thankyou for the precious memories💜
I always liked Ian's version better and still do. I remember buying their Greatest Hits and was disappointed they put Les' version on there instead of Ian's. Cheers TyT
I LOVED Ian's voice and he was my favourite! I loved all the BCR ... everyone of them so cute in his own way, but you always have faves! Was devastated when he left the band so soon, but loved them and always will!
My husband always blah blahs about the video quality on this one...but to me, it's perfect. I love the vibe with the rhythmic clapping and swaying, and sweet little Ian singing his heart out. I'm not sure we'll ever see this level of peace at a popular music event in today's world. RIP Ian, Les, and Alan. You will forevermore be missed. 💜

Poor Pat was so fresh on that tour. I had the opportunity to see Ian and Pat in Australia when the Bay City Rollers did the Breakout Tour in '88

SUCH SUCH GREAT MEMORIES!
It’s crazy I read this, I was thinking of saying the exact same thing

Ian, you will be missed. RIP.
