    AVAILABLE HERE: bit.ly/2MwEgxu
    No assembly guidance needed for this little F4U Corsair as with all the previous warbirds we have seen in this series from HobbyKing. I don't think you will even need need the instructions. It's so obvious how it goes together. In 10 minutes you will be ready to drop in your receiver and a small 2S or 3S lipo and get this warbird flying. The included ORX flight stabiliser makes this a joy to fly and gives it the feel of a much larger model with it's smoothness in the air even in a bit of wind. Use it in Expert mode to iron out the turbulence that would normally affect a small RC plane on a Winter's day.
    On this flight I wasn't happy with my landing so tried to take off and ended up cartwheeling. This cracked the wing and broke the prop! No problem. These were easy repairs and our second video shows even smoother flying of HobbyKing's latest release in the 750mm warbird line up!

    I got out of flying 20 years ago. Back then, NO electric, nothing but balsa & nitro. Gas engines were new.
    NOW, I'm glad I got back into flying again after Christmas! All flying needed was time! Time to get more awesome! 👍
    Loving the lipo, brushless, & foam! So much easier NOW than 2 decades ago!

    These type of planes are so light that with just a little bit of headwind you can crash land them on to crash with zero trottle and not do any damage. But taking off only really works well from a hard surface, which then risks breaking the plane on landing. The solution is to take the wheels of and just always hand launch them.

    This is only the second video I've seen on this plane, both of ended in crashes. Tips stalls, they seem common with small corsairs. I had the FMS 800 mm one of these and that was its most fatal characteristic too.

    curious if you have also flown the FMS V2 of the F4U and thoughts on which one is better? What was the issue with your gyro? We got one with a bad flight controller lead on our Hurricane. HK was quick to respond and is sending a replacement. Great flying in that wind!

  • @BelperFlyer
    @BelperFlyer Před 3 lety

    That's the problem with multi-blade props (particularly 4 blade - though 3 blades, too as you have demonstrated), there's always a blade next to the ground in a nose over or minor whoopsie like yours here. I much prefer simple 2 blade props. They don't look so good in the pits but, in the air, you can't tell the difference.
    It would have been useful to learn how you connect the receiver and the flight stabiliser switching. I'm no fan of small models (old age, I guess) because of their twitchiness but the flight stabiliser certainly seemed to work well in the breeze. You should have quite whilst you were ahead :).

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  Před 3 lety

      I did need to swap it out for a replacement ORX stabiliser but I thought at the time that customers ordering from today (i.e. 27/01/2021) would not need to do that. I did my test flights several weeks ago now. It is easy to swap it over if you do it one lead at a time so you don't get mixed up.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  Před 3 lety

      @@EssentialRC Nothing there unfortunately unless I blinked! I guess many of us are not lucky enough to have so many batteries lying around with various connectors available to swap out! Good looking model but going to have to stay on the shelf until I get some weights to add - it is so far out of the recommended CG (with any of the recommended batteries) it really is a poor model from this perspective and I think a bad oversight from Hobbyking.
