      So:
      - Is Lingoda a China based company?
      - How do interested parties does the payment if they wanted to adapt / learn a new language from Lingoda?
      - Will there be risk of personal particulars leaked / misused / scam / phishing from Lingoda's network?
      - Are the lecturers more compassionate to those online students who may have slightly difficulty in grasping the learning module from Lingoda?

    As a Singaporean, he is interviewing the people in the CBD area, Raffles place where they are offering the highest salaries in Singapore. And the one who is earning 10k to 20k are the director level, which is the top management of the companies here. Most regular people here are earning an average of 5k or much less. And the rental in Singapore is really expensive now, could be easily 3k + for a very small condominum.

    Singapore law does make it easier for companies to hire just about anyone in the world. But think about it too, that means you are competing against the world for the job. It gives me a sense of diversity and some pride when I used to work among people from other countries. It's good opportunity if you wish to challenge yourself but at the same time you have to be prepared to accept other ways and paces of thinking/working. In Singapore we accept the cultures and then make new culture around it rather than making the singapore culture the dominant one. Something different vs Hong Kong I feel.

      That's rubbish. A salaryman by definition is already working silly. Because they do not own anything of their company and cannot sell their shares for a big sum of exit money like their bosses do. Their monthly salary wouldn't even cover inflation and their retirement, and once reaching a useless age, they will be sacked with no thanks given. And at that time, they would realise that they have wasted their entire youth for nothing but a bondage.

      Not sure how smart can a salaryman be though. A salaryman has no power over his life. He can't say oh hey I don't want to come to the office on Monday. He must walk, stand and smile per the instructions of his boss for a salary which couldn't even cover retirement. And once he is too old to work, he will be laid off with no thanks given.

      Vietnamese people were also hard working people just don't be too money oriented like Chinese people. Work for passion and for the intention to bring better future to the young generations as your goal. Vietnam will be the next Singapore if people and government work together for progress of peace and strong economy. First thing first all gangs must go, then peace will slowly build up. This is what our Mr Lee move on with. Look at Hong Kong as long as there's gang member they prefer as it is.

    Interesting fun fact and thumbs up for even getting a few to share their salary range.
    Yes, it's perhaps less pressuring n more work life balance here vs say HK (dont forget it's all relative). Yes, it's probably easier to get working permit here than HK/Thailand or some other Asian countries. And yes, the overall environment here is generally conducive and good melting pot for all nationalities. BUT, the cbd is financial hub and people not working in this industry (or IT) dont earn that much. And locals that got displaced by expats are not having a easy life.
    So, that's the rosy tinted glass you are browsing. Imagine if these professionals are complaining about high rentals, how would the locals feel?

    • @chantalmonique2353
      @chantalmonique2353 Před 4 měsíci

      Locals need to care about their high rent for wad? Most of them live with their parents or alrd bought bto with their other partner. Monthly housing loan is deducted through cpf, don't even need to fork out cash. Why would u spent 2k on rental when u know ur salary cannot cover, isn't it your own bad desicion? An average small family of 3 can survive on just 4 to 5k salary. Others can survive, why not you? What u need? Landed property, a bmw car, luxury bags?

    It’s less meaningful to compare/measure earnings by currency, without comparing its local cost of living, and relevant purchasing power to sustain/support a similar/equivalent lifestyle. And more importantly, how much savings can you have in the end without sacrificing your expected lifestyle. Not to mention the higher stress and longer working hours associated with higher earnings that leads to less personal/family time and risks of physical/mental health. 当高收入(伴随着高强度、高压力)和高消费互相抵消后,你的生活品质/健康和银行存款与之相对应的购买力, 有成正比吗?

      When I was making only $5k/mth, I could save $2k every mth after deductions for CPF and $500 allowance for parents. I was single no car and personal expenses was only around $1.3k. I would use my year end bonuses for travel -- either to Europe or Japan/Korea. Tbh, I have no idea why some people complain so much about costs of living. If you don't plan your finances and budget your savings in first, then it's really a YOU problem. I feel healthy and fit. I make it a point to walk 5000 steps everyday. I don't smoke and only drink on the weekends. I knock off at 7pm on most days. Every job has its stresses but I really don't feel it'd be any more stressful than similar roles in other countries.
