Only Lacked: Krypton Destroyed, Main Titles & He's Back - Hudba
One of the reasons I like the older portrayals of Superman was he was almost always very powerful and used his power in a good way and he was very gentle, helpful and kind with those weaker than him. It is a good example of how we should use our power.
They say "Man of Steel" was supposed to be a more relatable Superman. But "Superman Returns" was inconspicuously much more relatable; Finding the love of his life, but going back to find his home, realizing it exists no more, coming back to find that neither does Lois, for him. Yet having to press on.
A most underrated movie by far.
Brandon Routh is a mirror image of Christopher Reeves in my opinion. His performance of Superman was spectacular.

@@Zuffy_ For me the film didn't capture the magic and charm from the original also i liked his take on Kent he really did do a good job and in many ways captured the look and the character but for me it was let down by his portrayal of superman and i just found the film boring along with the story it just did'tn interest me. After seeing superman the movie then the second film i cant help but compare any other superman films as the Christopher reeve version is what superman should be played like. Even Cavill had some big boots to feel in and just didn't do it for me. Maybe man of steel 2 we see a different side to the way he play's superman bringing back the charm and a bit or humour to the character that was missing and do you know also what was missing from the man of steel the iconic superman theme and the bold colours to the film

Nope. I enjoyed it for what it was. And I did enjoy Routh as Superman.
You are not alone, friend. I love this movie to death and I think Routh was AMAZING as Superman. I'll admit, I'm a bit biased as this was the FIRST Superman I ever saw, but I still feel that the movie and Routh don't get the great respect they deserve.

That's what I thought too. Hate to bring _Man_ _of_ _Steel_ up, like everybody else, but after having watched that I thought, "Maybe we were a little too harsh on _Returns_".
Jedi Master Nope, you are not alone with your opinion. I love this movie. For me it is the best superhero-movie of them all. And Brandon Routh, even when he is not styled as Clark Kent aka Superman he still looks like him.

Not exactly the same. More like mirror universes. The timeline doesn't at all align. Superman returns takes place in 2005, as you can tell from the newspaper props inside the film. Christopher Reeves's Superman films took place in the 1970s and 80s, which are the dates mentioned in thenewspapers shown on those films. So, this cannot be the same continuity since two decades had passed after Superman IV, or 2.5 decades after Superman II. Lois is not Kryptonian. She should have been 55, but in returns she was shown as a teenager. Superman Returns just uses certain recognisable elements from the Donner films to avoid creating another backstory. That is all. It's connections to the Reeve films are meant only for homage.
This is one of the best scores in movie history. John Ottman (like John Williams) is a GENIUS. The theme at 2:33 & 4:25 - _How Could You Leave Us?_ - is so amazing.

Definitely, I love this movie, a Superman who goes out of his way to save everyone possible & not just punch people through buildings in overly long ultimately boring fight scenes that seem to kill everyone within a half mile radius.

Superman Returns was amazing and I absolutely love that film. I'm SO tempted to place it over the original '78 film for the return of Marlon Brando alone. Great work by Bryan Singer. Beautiful direction and I loved the story. Just like reading a comic book! (And I even have the tie-in comic too!)

I know this is already four years old but in The Man of Steel the levels of power are very well respected that is why everyone believes that it is very cruel and bad, the fights are very intense because they respect the levels of power that superman and others have compared to normal people, the difference between a human and Superman. The Man Of Steel is more realistic than other superhero movies, Superman Returns is very nice, very sweet and tender, it makes you see another aspect of the world, but that's it, a very sweet movie.
Yes, the superman of The Man Of Steel is very dark, he does not have that charisma and that light that the superman of the comics and the superman of this movie has, they didn't respect him, they made a character very traumatized and sad and they made Jonathan Kent a coward, in the comics he was the inspiration of superman, he would never told him to let his friends die so he would remain hidden, but hey, they are fiction movies, beings that do not exist. It would be boring if they were exactly the same as comics. I love this movie and the others, for me all superman movies show a different aspect of him, some are darker, others are more happy, some are more realistic and others have no sense of logic, but that's why we see all the movies , they are all different.

Why are you singling out man of steel? What about the Avengers? (Destruction of New York) or the The Dark Knight Rises? (Destruction of Gotham via the Bat vehicle and mass riots and release of thousands of murders and rapists).

As for Returns - Superman is NOT a "savior" - he's an *example*. Nor does he ever shamelessly use his powers to snoop on people in the way he did on Lois and her boyfriend.
I'll throw a third choice in here - none of them compare to Superman '77.
