This one, Germany and Italy were my favourite episodes. Three different philosophies with visionary managers and masters of football.
How the Dutch lions were loud in Europe
- 1955: Netherlands became the first country into the European Cup
- 1970: Feyenoord ruled the entire Europe by the painting red from Rotterdam as the first Dutch team to sit in the European throne
- 1971-1973: Ajax finally sat the European throne and built the first Dutch European dynasty following with their first treble in the Dutch soccer history at 1972 under the mastermind, Johan Cruyff.
- 1988: Before the Netherlands crowned the kings of Europe in Euro 1988, PSV Eindhoven finally clinched their first treble in the club's history to put the end of the Ajax and Rotterdam's dominance to sit the European throne.
- 1995: After thrilling final in Vienna, Ajax reclaimed the long glory by winning their fourth European crown with a help by Louis van Gaal and Patrick Kluivert as a GWG.
We may not have a lot of trophies, but at least, we invented the best playstyle ever.

The Dutch did not invent total football. Jimmy Hogan and Jack Reynolds along with Hugo Meisl are the principle creators. Austrian Wunderteam of the 1930 s were the first to play that style. Torino and an Argentine side in the 1940s and along with Hungary in the 1950s
That Ajax team in 2018-19 was so exciting!

The influence of two Englishmen on Ajax and Dutch football: Jack Reynolds and Vic Buckingham, should never be underestimated. Without them, the foundation Michels and subsequently Cruyff was blessed with would've never flourished
I was looking for this comment. Ajax would be nothing without those two. Indeed they were the progenitors of Total football along with Jimmy Hogan.
@@TheLewisLegend true as a nation in football austria is less talked about but austria wunderteam executed total football first and even Catenaccio evolved from there. Underrated football nation in terms of influence.

Being able to play any position when the situation calls for it is priceless for a team

I'm sad they when talked about Ajax 1995, they didn't mention one name: JARI LITMANEN.
He was one of their best player at that time, who scores many critical goals.

That 2-3 loss to Tottenham was a tragedy. Ajax 100% deserved to go to the final, but alas their desire to keep playing instead of managing a big lead was their undoing. It would have been great for Dutch football, and to show in general that it's still possible for a non-English/Spanish/German/Italian club to reach the CL final.
