  • I had the honor and privilege of meeting Hershel Woody Williams in May of 2019 - he was 95 at the time and had so many wonderful stories to tell. You wouldn't of believed he was 95 by his youthfulness. He served as a Marine in WWII and was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman for his bravery on Iwo Jima. What a story. Williams also founded the Woody Williams Foundation which is a non-profit organization that establishes Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments and conducts outreach programs for Gold Star Families.
He was the last surviving WWII Medal of Honor Recipient.
A statement from the Woody Williams Foundation says that Woody “went home to the be with the Lord” and that he “peacefully joined his beloved wife Ruby while surrounded by his family at the VA Medical Center which bears his name.”
One of his secrets to health was to drink Apple Cider Vinegar with honey and water. This morning I'll be drinking one of those in his honor. He was 98. Rest in peace Woody.
