It's bad matchmaking that's led us to this point. No reason why Arman shouldn't be fighting for the title. Instead we're wasting time having Arman vs Charles. Justin is also fighting a featherweight for some reason. The three most deserving lightweights of a title fight are already booked for 300 and Dustin is the only available guy near the top of the rankings. Dustin doesn't deserve a title shot but, by default, it looks like Dustin will get a title shot.
Rankings don't matter. Who deserves it doesn't matter. Where have you been? Why haven't you been able to figure this out yet?

I actually really like what you are proposing here, Chael. My only resistance to it is knowing how badly Dustin wants to claim the lightweight belt and wishing he gets one more crack at it, but a BMF trilogy match with Gaethje would be awesome too.

Colby beat a dead Masvidal to decision (who everyone knew he would) while Dustin beat an upcoming prospect who many thought was unstoppable and was on a 5 fight finishing streak. Dustin was an underdog going into the fight, Dustin jumped into the fire and came out victorious. People say Dustin and Justin don't fight down the rankings but now when they do, UFC should reward them the way they deserve to be rewarded.
Justin deserves it, I'm surprised he took max at 300 and didn't wait for Islam in the summer. But that's the guy he is. Hope he gets the opportunity before he calls it a day

There needs to be a BMF in each divison Chael. It just makes more sense. - The BMF belt held by Justin Gaiche is fine. But there should be a heavyweight, light heavyweight etc. separate BMF belt.
Idk. I like imagining a 155er fighting a light hvy or heavyweight.
By having no weight class to it, we can make fights that would otherwise never happen.
The problem with BMF in each division is that some divisions don't really have many worthy guys of that title. Not to mention it would devalue actual titles

One of the best ideas I heard for the BMF was, anyone in any weight division , put their name forward and have a one day tournament lol, sounds fun to me but obviously never happen.

It should be Gaethje vs Islam, but theyre wasting him on that BMF fight with Max. I think matchmakers are overdoing these cross-divisional fights and not letting weightclasses play out. At first it was a lot of fun, mostly because we spent a decade wanting to see GSP fight Anderson and it never happened. The novelty of it has worn off though and the weightclasses are becoming stagnant. Close the doors between weightclasses for another 5-10 years then start this up again.

I think the main reason Dustin was booked vs Islam instead of Justin (who's more deserving) is cuz the UFC is trying to set up a Justin vs Conor fight at 170 for the BMF belt. That's the only thing that can get Conor a title shot at 170 without him having to fight any ranked 170 pounders.
