  • These awesome prototype feeder jacks were made for the polar bears at @yorkshirewildlifepark during one of our team builds. The feeder is made up of six connected chambers, with five of them having a hole in the end. The end without a hole has a flip lid where food can be put inside and then closed and sealed using a threaded rod and butterfly nut. As the feeder is rolled the food moves through the channels and out through the holes. Because of how much timber is used, the feeder weighs a lot! But you wouldn't know it with how easily they move it about, and even pick it up.
The corporate team did a fantastic job of building these feeders during the half-day team build, and it was great to see the polar bears using them at the end of the day. As a prototype it worked brilliantly, and it has allowed us to test it, learn from it, and move forward with the design. A huge thanks to the keepers at YWP for trusting us with this idea, and to the corporate group for doing such an awesome job.
