  • These lovely mourning doves have been visiting the same nest for three years and last year, between the months of July & August, they hatched two eggs. They are back in their nest again and I had the opportunity to record it and share it with all bird lovers.

    I have a Morning Dove that just started creating a nest a couple of days ago on my kitchen window seal. I just hope this little treasure doesn't stay alone too long.

    That is one heck of a cushiony and spacious nest. Ours is very sparse and compact in comparison. My pair weren't very interested in making a nest. They were much more interested in making out with each other. Here, there, everywhere LOL!😂

    We have a pair nesting on top of a ladder in our shed. I was very surprised, as we have dogs that frequent the yard. I’ll have to keep a sharp eye on them!

    does dove remove chicks fecal sacs like other birds ? my wall is full of dried poops dripping whole lines down from top to to bottom :(

    • @jcnaturegraphy
      @jcnaturegraphy  Před rokem +1

      I haven’t seen mourning doves 🕊️ doing that yet and I don’t think they would because during this nestling period, there is dried poop all around the nest and the front doorway where the nest is 😆

    I have a ton of birds that are all around my backyard that look like these (dark grey bodies with black spots.... but smaller). They don't ever hoot/coo, though. They only chirp. I'm not convinced they are Mourning Doves, but nothing is coming up other than that when I search the web. I'm in northern California. Help!

      Providing a range of grains and seeds is a sure way to attract doves, and they are partial to sunflower seeds, millet, milo, cracked corn, and wheat. Because these are larger birds, they prefer feeding on the ground or using large, stable tray or platform feeders that have adequate room to perch.

      @JC Nature Graphy Thank you! But are these indeed Mourning Doves I am watching? Again, they are smaller and only "chirp."
      (Also, I have one I captured and put neelar some bushes with seeds... it was drowning in a bucket of water because it didn't have a tail)

    I love birds but these birds are replicas of pigeon rats with wings. Their cooing sound makes everyone I know want to regurgitate.
